PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | September 2014

And oh look, Suikoden is on sale.
One of my all time favorite PS1 titles that I would buy this very instant to play on my Vita.
Only you can't.

Has anyone ever given an official reason why they just disallow certain classic titles from the Vita?

Is it a distribution rights thing or... what?

It's so damn frustrating

Suikoden is definitely on my Vita right now, so I can confirm that it is sideloadable from PS3. (In NA at least)

What's this Tizoc thread about?

Read the following : "It’s officially October, and we have a great new promotion for you to get the most out of your PlayStation gaming experience this month. If you spend $100 or more on the PlayStation Store in October, we’ll give you a $20 credit to your wallet to spend in November! This is a store-wide promotion, so anything you purchase using your wallet will count towards the $100 total. One caveat: the credit back is limited to the first $100 you spend."

He says he has an official confirmation without a source.

Is it a better deal to buy SOTN now, or buy Dracula X Chronicles at some point? That latter has "more gaming" technically.
SOTN is hard to say no to at that price, but the DX Chronicles definitely has more content. If you are buying the collection for SOTN, the are a few things to keep in mind:

1) The aspect ratio is kind of messed up. Menus are proper 4:3, but actual gameplay is stretched a bit.

2) The smooth filter cannot be fully disabled. It doesn't affect gameplay, but it definitely isn't as sharp as playing the PSOne classic.

3) This version of SOTN is not the a Saturn version.

Thanks for the reply. I think I will probably end up getting SOTN PSOne classic.

If you're a hardcore SotN purist, the PSOne SotN is the only way to play the game, and I could give a laundry list of reasons why (ExitPlanetDust covered a few of them)... but it really doesn't matter, 'cause if Dracula X was the only option on Vita, it would be perfectly serviceable, and Dracula X has other stuff in it that's worth owning and playing too. Rondo of Blood is a masterpiece, the apex of traditional, pre-SotN Castlevania games imo.

tl;dr Dracula X is one of the must-have PSP games imo. If you want to play SotN, standalone SotN is the best way to. I keep both games on my memory card, though.

Fantastic, a great co-op title. Not sure the online will be as lively anymore, but it's good fun, and features offline co-op as well.

So I have one person saying it's good and one person saying it's bad. Hmm, well I have no impulse control, so I think I'll just buy it. Besides, I've got a Castlevania itch to scratch :P.

I'd like an answer to this as well. Never heard of this game ever.

Basically, it's a remake of the Wii title Little King's Story. Fans of the original game probably won't share my enjoyment for the Vita version, but I've never played the Wii game so I don't have much frame of reference. Basically, the player has to rebuild his castle and kingdom from scratch. There are quests to complete and princesses to save - all of which will go toward rebuilding the kingdom and fighting a greater evil. Instead of traditional combat, you recruit villagers to join the royal guard, which you then give commands to during battle.

It's accessible but fun, and it's all topped off by an adorable art style. Unfortunately, there are some framerate issues and I remember having some issues with the touchscreen controls. Otherwise, it's a great game!

Great job with the icon, SCEA.

Just got my 10th platinum (Soul Calibur II HD), aww yeah!

Now I can take it easy on the trophy whoring for a while. :lol I've been saying for a while that all I wanted was to get up to the double-digits in platinums. And now I have.

(And to make this post slightly more relevant to the thread, I just might be joining VitaGAF soon...maaaaybe, if things work out.)

Can we all please chant in a virtual circle to induce a massive ps1/psp/vita sale corresponding to the release of the PSTV in NA?

On that topic. I know it used to be 5 mobile platforms but now it is 2 mobile platforms which I assume is also PSTV. So since I had Castlevania SotN on my PSP and Vita will it not let me play it on my PSTV?

As the other replier mentioned in his post, He believed he "wasn't playing it right" and I think that may be the case. HoD may not have the best graphics, it's the models from the DS games, but it's fun as hell, most of their powers and abilities are present, even Soma has souls from basically everything in the game.

It is a game where you'll have 100 times more fun playing online than off, it's a bit grindy to get super powered, but the aspect of playing with up to 5 other players at any time is good fun :)

As long as you have online, I'd be happy to play with you! My PSN is leechaolan

I think the online must be the deciding factor. It definitely can't be played as if it's a typical castlevania game

oh god they hurt.

Aso do ALL of my PS3 cases. 2 different header styles, some with PS MOVE TM on them, one with Cero on it instead of ESRB. Urg.

Sure! I'll send you a friend request in a bit.

I think the current pattern for PS Plus lineup announcement is "Wednesday preceding the first Tuesday of the month".

So tomorrow.

Yep, and trust me I love SotN and all the GBA and DS ones, but this one is just as fun to me, with the ability to play in 6 people parties. working together to fight bosses and the great cast of characters to play as. Different experience for sure, but plenty fun to be had, just online is pretty much a prerequisite.

It isn't a bad game, but it runs terribly once you get a decent size army. I couldn't finish it.

Definite slow down with a full army while in your 'town', but it's very playable outside of town and I didn't spend much time in town anyway. If some slowdown makes you tear your eyes out, skip, if you can play past stuff like that it shouldn't deter you from the game if you're otherwise interested in it.

Any micro USB cable should work for charging/connecting a Dualshock 4 to the PS4, right? My PS4/DS4 won't blow up if I use the cable that came with my Kindle?
