This has been happening for decades. I'm not sure if we have like an actual statistic uptick of these incidents in the last 5 years. But it's likely that we had just as many of these incidents before, they just weren't reported as often as they are now. People have been suffering a long time under the abuse of the law.

They didn't want to set a legal precedent guys. Imagine the number of cops who would be on trial if they were no longer above the law and were tried and treated for crimes like everyone else. These guys put their lives on the line everyday, and doing something like that isn't fair to them. Here is a link to a youtube video of an incident that happened in 1998 that totes justify the current 'shoot on sight' mentality that some cops display. These officers have families to get home to so at the end of the day its going to be you or them. Besides we don't even know if that old man had a weapon in the passenger seat that caused the officer to shoot because he feared for his life. I mean not to victim blame but if he simply pulled over when the cop asked him to this wouldn't have happened. Doubly so after that one post in which a police officer explained how they can fuck if your day if you don't give them the proper respect. He should have just pulled over and let the officer do his job, again not justifying or victim blaming, I'm just stating the obvious and easiest route to not getting shot. I'm just trying to make sense of why he killed this guy it just seems random and makes no sense. I mean if he went for his gun then yea...

I'm just trying to get an understanding of how this could have happened and not jump to any conclusions.

The problems with the justice system are bad but not so much that we can't rely on the police to do their job now and again. But please continue telling people not to call the police when they want them to mediate a problem.
Of course he doesn't deserve it, but that is a crazy "habit."
