Question 1: Fusion Rifle outclasses shotgun in PvE almost 100% of the time.

Question 2: Quick charge time, being the element of that week's Burn mod, high range, or being Pocket Infinity

Pocket Infinity is ridiculous now that I have unlocked all the perks. It's an ammo hog though.

Why would you jump the pillars for the Templar phase? You risk falling off, there are spots where you won't be able to hit the Templar efficiently, charging Supers takes longer and when he Enrages the Oracles become so frequent you might miss Cleanse due to cooldown. Feels like you're unnecessarily making the encounter longer and more boring. The encounter itself shouldn't give you any trouble; just stick together. Harpies aren't really a threat and you can pretty much ignore Oracles. The Super will charge super fast if you let the Relic bearer clear the Harpies, which cuts down on a lot of downtime / waiting.

Unless the encounter is significantly different on Hard mode of course. Then I'll take everything back. ;-P

As joyous as the true full auto is with 8 (or MORE due to the effect) shots, I recommend Perfect Balance. Treat it like a Fusion Pulse Rifle. The shots count more, and you save ammo.
X2.

And Plan C and Light/Beware get honorable mention, in that order.
PI takes a backseat for this weeks nightfall.. Plan C can two-shot the centurion minibosses.

I could disagree with you, saying that they are easy when you do them right, and people already solo them, which is all true, but honestly a lot of the endgame stuff seems more tedious then fun. You die so fast that you need to just find a hiding spot, adds spawn like crazy on bosses, and everything is a bullet sponge. Sure you can exploit the damage bonus, but then you have weeklys like this week that don't have one. The game basically encourages you to find the best cheesing spot for bosses.

This isn't from someone who can't or doesn't do nightfalls either. I will continue to do them as well, just I can see the point of view of people that don't like the endgame stuff.

Yeah this is basically how I feel. I can beat them and I've done them solo, but it's usually just tedious. Sometimes I'm into it. It's not the type of difficulty I enjoy.

I think the odds probably are changing for the worse, but I'm ok with that. I think purple stuff should come from strikes and raids, and getting it from routine farming, random engram decryption, and cryptarch levelling should happen but be very rare.

No, I don't think the outcome odds are changing. Only the color of your engram balls. But the end result will be the same odds when decrypted.

Hey I didn't say it was "fair" and in fact I agree with you regarding the reward system, but just saying there are certainly additional chances; once per week and a lockout isn't accurate.

I don't think anyone is sticking their fingers in their ears and pretending anything, where is that coming from? Citation needed.

You aren't locked out of the mode, you just get chest rewards once a week per character, and boss rewards twice per character (normal/hard mode). You can triple that with 3 characters. Seems pretty fair to me.

IMO, folks saying they want to quit because of this patch probably haven't hit the frustration of doing the raid and getting ass shards, a gun you already have, and the ship you already have, and then being locked out of doing that mode for a week.

This isn't MLA or Chicago, but this is the best I can do on a forum off the top of my head. Sure, I can play the raid as many times as I want, but if it helps, I meant to say locked out of getting loot, but that idea of being politically correct every goddamn post I make can jump off a cliff.

The idea of the word 'fair' being used to describe anything regarding how the loot table works in the raid is about as appropriate as thinking the auction house in Diablo 3 was a good idea because you spent a hundred bucks on an in-game amulet for your character. In other words, it's not. Not no way. Not no how.

I mainly play PvP, and I stick with a scout rifle, shotgun, and rocket launcher.

Due to the weapon imbalances would you say I am at a major disadvantage? I'm still usually positive and sometimes still get a 3.0-4.0 k/d ratio. However every encounter with ARs and Fusion Rifles seems near impossible. It seems like 3 bullets from the AR take me down.

Very frustrating

I will stick with the scout rifle as I like to feel that I am precisely aiming my shots and not getting lucky with spraying.

Meaning: I believe it to be fair to get 3 runs per week and 3 chances at chest/6 chances at boss loot. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

yea i cheesed it earlier and it was boring and inefficient. and if the relic guy falls down it's game over.

Hey based on that DLC leak, did I see correctly that there will be another Raid? Didn't bungie say that there wouldn't be raids in those expansions? And didn't someone post the preorder card for the DLC and it didn't mention it? Who do I believe?!

we knew there would be a raid per expansion for awhile now. And bungie confirmed it like 2 days ago. A raid on the moon in the first and a raid in the reef(zomg new location finally) in the second.

I'm also part of the camp. The bullet sponge + throw all the adds gameplay is getting very old. More "how long is this going to take" than challenging or fun.

So now people are complaining about legendary engrams turning into energy.

oh boy.

Okay, I'm getting kind of tired of all these weapon/armor parts. We need something to do with them.

I know it's optimistic, but I'd love a way to either turn them in for rep, or even more awesome, turn in like 100 for a shard/energy.

Currently sitting on 540 Plasteel plating, and 290 weapon parts.

Had around 20 blue engram's saved up, got 1 legendary hex caster arc AR, 2 motes of light, and broadsword(camo shader really wanted this). Everything else was trash.

Keep ranking up Vanguard post level 3, or jump to a Faction?

Also, post-patch Legendary engram just turned into Exotic "Universal Remote". :)

I would. While I love scout rifles and use them in PvE they are just so so bad in PvP at the moment :(

I guarantee if you started using an assault rifle like the Suros, Shadow Price, or Shingen your K/D would rise a decent bit.

Patch 1.0.3 preview:

wtf!! another way shut for getting ascendent shards and energy bungie hates me. I still need so many to get anywhere, so far I've been stuck at lvl27 longer than any other and I keep getting exotic weapons!!!

I guess I'll keep truckin :P

Well my character also has red hair, red face markings, and a red gun so it sorta fits. The Alpha Lupi armor looks especially amazing this shader.

I like some contrast. The one i'm using on my warlock iirc is gilgamesh. Red coat with dark blue helmet and gloves.

Alright, let's see if I can remember who was coming

Marvel
DeathJr
Zoba
figadapaura
Myself

And I'm not sure if Afrocious was referring to us in that post earlier.

And I believe that's only a way to alleviate the underlying issue because you have the opportunity to be potentially screwed out of loot, regardless of if you even do both raid difficulties. And even if you did have three characters, because everything dropped in the raid is a gamble in the purest form between you and the game (and not between you and the other teammates as more competent games have shown), you STILL have the chance to get jack shit. Just this time, you get it 3x in a row.

I cannot consider that to be fair. Not for a raid.

Did they reduce crucible rewards or something? I've played 3 games now (1 rumble, 2 skirmish) and only seen 1 reward given out at all which was a blue helmet engram to myself. Could just be the random nature coming into effect of course, just seems unusually low is all.

I've said it 100 times.

They need to let you exchange different materials for any other ones.

Just set different materials at different rates based on rarity. You should be able to turn in Plasteel and Weapon Parts for Ascendant Energy and Shards.

that sounds like when i play lol.

OH yeah and does anyone know if this patch gave the promised buffs to Thorn and Bad Juju?

I was waiting to see what they were going to do with those.

Yea I've brought this up before as well. Think I have like 800 something sapphire wire now :/ Need material exchange or something.

3.0 to 4.0 k/d is really good, I think you should play with what you like. I see people with ARs get <1 k/d all the time, actually at least once a match, team or rumble. skill tends to win out overall despite what people might think. Shotguns are viable but you need to do more than corner camp to make them competitive (master that "slide and blast"). i am certainly looking forward to the AR nerf, though :P

You do get rewards for every subsequent level after 3, so it is still worth while. That being said, if a faction has gear with stats/bonuses more to your liking you should go for said faction.

On that same note, does anyone know if there is any kind of reward for hitting rank 3 with all the normal tower factions? Might add it to my random goal list if there was something neat for it.

Also this patch is gonna be awesome. I stashed so many blue engrams for the purpose of leveling my cryptarch rank. I may not get much (nor do I really need much), but I'm still excited.

I'd like to try and knock out the Nightfall tonight, dunno if I should attempt another solo run or see if some of the fine people here would like to run one. Bah, still too much time before work is over.

The main thing this patch drama has taught me is that an amazing amount of people don't know how to read or to grasp what they've read.

Makes me frightened for the future of Democracy.

Still, I'll run strikes / heroics / nightfall with even the most illiterate.
