Yoshida: Sony is "Working Diligently" on The Last Guardian

Only logical thing I can come up with at this point is that it's now a Morpheus title and it's waiting to reveal it alongside a release date of Morpheus.

Considering FFXV is really going to come out within the next two years, I wouldn't be surprised to see TLG finally be re-revived again in the future :).

I mean, Studio Japan finished their work on a number of games last year (Soul Sacrifice, Puppeteer, Tokyo Jungle, Rain, Knack and this year, SSD and Freedom Wars), so they had to have a number of people resuming work on Last Guardian at this point :D.

.....The only part of Studio Japan making games for Sony right now that we know about includes Gravity Rush 1.5/2 (Team Siren) and Osoka (sorry I spelled that wrong X(), so their has to be a large number of people working on TLG again I think :).

Him saying 'Development is progressing great :D!" isn't just some easy lies.....I think he is telling the truth :). I would gladly eat crow if I'm wrong but next E3, KH3, FFXV and The Last Guardian will be big games of the show in some form (even if the latter is only a trailer).

Ditto

Probably gonna string people along all the way till the end of the generation and then announce development has been moved to PS5.

At this point I'd rather he just say something like "We're not going to discuss TLG until we have something to announce". Saying development couldn't be better seems like an odd phrase to use given what this game has been through.

They don't want to reveal anything until they're sure it's ready, and they have a release date in mind. Basically they want to avoid a repeat of its reveal first time around.

That's why they made almost a whole E3 with 2015 or TBD release dates, yeah sure they don't want to sell things solely on promises.

I personally don't believe anything until I see actual gameplay footage so he can be right but I'll be hyped again when I will see a gameplay trailer or gameplay impressions with screens etc.
I'm also so afraid the game to be bad

At least he didn't say Sooony?

I think people need to cull back their expectations for this game. When do games in development for this long ever end up being good/meeting expectations?

This has the be one of the most interesting development of games I have ever seen. I really want to know what has been going on with it from start to finish. Would probably make for an amazing editorial.

I think most people have. From what we know (which is very little), this sounds like the definition of development hell. There's a few examples of a game going through something like this turning out great (Sleeping Dogs development story is insane, and that game is very well-regarded), but that's the exception.

"No guys, we swear, it's still alive!"

"Just get a PS4 so you can experience it really soon!"
Greatness Awaits!

In all honesty, if this thing ever comes out, I think people will buy it only for the included "Making of TLG" video, which will deliver the greatest video game story ever told!

I desperately want this game, but Yoshida doesn't sound confident. It feels like the words he's trained to say in response to The Last Guardian questions every time he's asked. Yoshida, you're lying.

E3 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If not then, then for sure, for SURE Tokyo Game Show 2015!!!!!!!!!!

But, even if it isn't ready by then, it will be at Gamescome 2015 WITHOUT a single doubt!!!

Even if it isn't at Gamescom next year, it will 100% GUARANTEED be at E3 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If not, then we really shouldn't worry at all because it will no doubt at that point be unveiled sometime between now and E3 2020!!! That is actually the most likely date!!! WHY??? Because you want to SEE The Last Guardian and need 2020 vision to SEE IT, get it? 2020? Sony is so ingenious with their marketing!!!

I'd expect a lot of sugarcoated PR bullshit from that video if they ever make one.

I don't even understand why interviewers keep asking about it or people keep discussing it when they do. If its not canceled and they have nothing new to announce, its going to be the same response every time. Its not like Shu ever said "wait till..." Since it was announced that it was basically going back to the drawing board, but people sure like to act like he did. Call me crazy but I feel like when they have something to say about it we won't have to wait for some random game blog to ask about it, Sony''ll just tell us.

I love how people are acting like they've given up on the game or aren't still hype as hell about it. That's far harder to believe than Yoshida's answer. I remember people saying similar things about FFXV until TGS and the demo announcement.

I expect the same about-face here when they re-reveal the game.

At this point they need to answer with a "no comment" and be done about it until they have something significant to say.

I wonder if their reluctance to (seemingly) dedicate full resources to this game's development is down to the likely high cost of of getting it completed when the game is likely one that wouldn't be such a big seller. Certainly it's hard to imagine it'd sell so well as to make up for how long it's been draining resources.

Though that is assuming development in whatever minor form has been continuous on the title I guess.

Even Square is better at dodging questions.

I remember when Square's refusal to answer questions about FFVSXIII led to Kotaku announcing the game's cancellation a few years back.

Staying completely silent on the matter isn't without it's pitfalls as well.

Safe to say Sony will go under before we see The Last Guardian released.

So a 2015 release for the title could still happen, basically?
