Counting down the minutes until Ubisoft says that this guy mis-spoke, or what he said was based on previous builds and there will be a day one patch for 1080p on PS4. It's really the only thing they can do now haha
 
How blunt must Occam's razor be for this to sound even remotely plausible to anyone, be it the whole truth or not? Even conspiracy theorists would be assailed by doubts.
 
Sony should make some sort of rule, if Pubs dont make use of the power they've provided and instead gimp a product in the name of parity, no release on the system. How could ubi turn down the bigger install base ?.. not a chance of this happening though.

This is so fuckin stupid.
 
So how many upset people are going to buy it anyway? Every time I see posters boycotting a company, the next week most are playing the game.

Will be interesting to see what's left in the PC files this time around.

I'll end up snagging it on PS4 anyway but probably not for another year or so when it can be had for $15 or less.
 
They explained it in the article "CPU bound" is all they needed to say. The advantages of PS4 don't apply if performance is limited by CPU, infact with the higher clock the Xbone could have a small advantage on the CPU, but they are locking them at 30 so it wouldn't be noticeable.
 
Come to the PC people. All are welcome. Come into the light (to avoid shit like this).

You can't avoid UPlay.
This is why I hate buying Ubisoft crap.
It is either horrible on the PC from optimization or UPlay, or just play it on console for downgrade.
The only good news is that Ubisoft has the worst franchises from any publisher so I rarely buy their game at full price.

It really isn't. People are buying a product that could be better but is being held back because of the other console with inferior hardware.
PS4's CPU is actually better according to Matt (a trusted insider/developer who visits this forum)
 
I shared this news in one of them Playstation only facebook. One guy said "fps and resolution doesn't matter."

I should get a gaming PC If this bother me so much. is also what he told me.

Yeah you should.

People acting like the PS4 is a miracle machine because it can do things PC's have been able to do for years.
 
I just can't wrap my head around the logic of this. 1080/900 splits are common and expected, no one gets worked up about those. Most XBO owners just hope for 900p at this point. It's the least controversial difference that there could be an resolution is far easier to change between two platforms than other things like AA, effects, enemy numbers, etc. There's no reasoning that makes sense here, especially if the idea was to avoid debate.

Destiny and Diablo weren't controversial because they were both hitting 1080p at the target framerate. This situation is just weird.

Yeah. It doesn't make sense to pay for parity on 900p. All it would do is make you look bad, Ms has to known that.

Option 1: "PR mis-spoke. PS4 version is not at 900p/30fps for parity, we couldn't make it run any better"
Option 2: "We are doing this for the gamers. We don't think any gamer should get an inferior version just because they bought a different console"
Option 3: "Resolution isn't set in stone yet for these platforms, we are still in active development." Followed by complete silence. Followed by DF analysis post-launch showing nothing changed.

I'm putting my money on Option 2.

Option 1 because the AC engine is garbage.
 
PS4 version will be cheaper right, around 30% right? After all 30% of my PS4 won't be playing the game.

It has been stated multiple times that cpu does not deal with resolution and effects. Just framerate.

I don't understand plenty of games run the same on both. Why the outrage?

Because they outright said "You will be getting an inferior version because we didn't want to step on MS toes"? I don't know I guess that's nothing to worry about then all is well and good.

1. Yet they could make the XB1 version run the same, eventhough the hardware is not on the same level with the PS4.

2. That didn't stop them from making the last gen ACs run better on the 360.

3. Yet many other publishers manage to make their games run at 1080p on the PS4 long before the release date.

There is no way for them to come out of this as impartial without actually making use of the more powerful hardware.

Last gen we crunched every fucking frame and game OT's first few pages were always about what version ran better. (360 usually) Now that Microsoft has the slow dog in the race we are supposed to all hug it out and just enjoy the games? while I agree with the sentiment. I cannot support my version of the game being downgraded because it will make your's look worse.

Remember how it was last gen with PS3 ports being inferior and sometimes to an unplayable extent?

While it could have been better (hypothetically) it surely isn't "worse".

The gap is closing courtesy of choice (dictated by a myriad of reasons), not specs.

CPU has no bearing on resolution. That quote is referring to why it's 30fps.
 
That is not the issue here. The issue is that they CAN have the game in 1080p. If 900p was the maximum they could reach becquse the game is soooo demanding, then people wuldnt have a problem with it. Its the fact they openly say its parity that sucks

Like Watch Dogs? Yeah sure. It would mean that they tried and failed to get 1080p. From that comment it looks like they are not even trying.

It's not strictly about the resolution. It's how PR literally said they made design decisions to achieve parity on both consoles and seemingly not willing to put the extra effort into exploring both consoles strengths.

You are completely missing the point, just like many others. It's really sad.

It's not the lower resolution, it's the fact that the PS4 is being intentionally held back to said resolution.

Yes. If they can't hit 1080p legitimately on PS4, then whatever. I bought Watch Dogs even though it was 900p.

Some of you are literally saying you would buy the game provided the X1 version looked worse, even if the PS4 version looked exactly as it does now. So you're happy with how the game looks but you require the X1 version to look worse.

I have never understood this sort of attitude. It's just like people saying they will boycott all EA games because Sim City required online. Peggle 2 didn't require online, but you're boycotting that because of the EA logo. This sort of "gaming politics" baffles me. You're preventing yourself from playing potentially amazing games just to stick it to some PR mouth.

1080 was the only reason to buy AC series since playing one AC=playing all AC.

This is an attitude I can understand, even if I don't agree with it. The game doesn't look good enough therefore I won't buy it.
 
Well... Hope the PS4 user base votes with their wallets.

This is only a problem for ps4 owners? Treating everyone like the console they own makes them apart of some kind of race gets so annoying. This is a problem for EVERYONE. Just because it doesn't affect you now that doesn't mean it will never affect you.
 
I don't come on here much but I heard this was causing a ruckus over here. As an xbox one owner I'm glad they kept it equal.

It's funny how one sentence can cause all these people to cry and say they aren't buying it now.

They would have far less problems.

It would be a bit less actively horrible, but still a questionable statement though - CPU bottlenecking framerate (which is all he actually said) is reasonable, but holding back resolution is a little less regular. Usually a CPU bound is actually a good excuse to jack up res or other GPU work, at least until the GPU risks becoming the bound.
 
I'll still pick up Unity on PS4. It still looks like a ton of fun and the 900p on Watch_Dogs didn't bother me a bit.

The fact that this news is getting this kind of reaction here on GAF doesn't surprise me in the least, though.
 
Don't really think it's MS' fault. They seem to be fine with 900p.

Of course, which is why they sent engineers to Bungie and Blizzard to bring their 900p games up to 1080p.

Is absolutely anybody saying this? What people are saying is if the game runs acceptably at 900p on Xbone then there doesn't seem to be a good reason why the PS4 version couldn't be 1080p with the same assets and performance. Which means that the PS4 version is being made intentionally worse for no good reason.

Nope. Remember when Phantom Pain was showed at E3 2013 on MS's stage?

Then after the ground zeroes Graphics comparision, MS told Kojima to never come back to their stage again, and thus Sony picked them up.
