honestly, I don't particularly care if a game is 900p -- Ryse was 900p and I don't think it looked blurry at all.
I just don't like bullshit. Deciding to reduce the performance of one version of the game for the sake of parity -- whether the reason is to stop discussion or to appease MS as part of some marketing arrangement you have with them -- either way, it's bullshit, and fuck 'em. Anyone who has a PS4 or who is fair minded should be offended by this -- that your version is being reduced for no good reason.
Awesome. Lol Couldn't be anymore truer.
they can't change the resolution of the game from outside of it, no. Ubisoft would have to get MS to allow them to do that...

Not sure how you're meant to improve on perfection but worth a try.

What a load of fucking bullshit.
I knew this would happen this generation.
I know who. I just think we should not jump to conclusions like this. "MS might've paid", yes. "Definitely paid", not sure.
I know I shouldn't be surprised at this point but it's still crazy to me how much people lose their shit over stuff like this. It seems like such a ridiculously minor thing to go crazy over.
I mean, I can understand being a little irritated by it (assuming the PS4 version is capable of 1080p anyway) but to start going on a crusade of twitter hashtags and preorder cancellations just seems so insanely over the top that it's not even funny anymore.
I'm not in the business of telling people how they should react or feel but damn...I think a lot of you might be overreacting a bit over this. It's just resolution.
why would ms pay for parity and not pay for the better version?
Because no one would believe it.why would ms pay for parity and not pay for the better version?
Cool, let me go load up the superior version of destiny on my PC. Maybe I will play a little GT5? Or how about gran turismo? Last of Us? Mario? Link? what?
i think the article is more about framerate, they say in the same article that if cpu's were not the obstacle, and it was graphics alone they could do high framerates.
about resolution, instead of jumping to conclusions, I say again that I look on their very last game. it was 900/30 on ps4, even lower on xbone. and sony had the marketing deal on that one.
and this one is more demanding.
You realize consoles hold back PC games too right with inferior hardware?
why would ms pay for parity and not pay for the better version?
The parity in Destiny was a huge thread here on NeoGaf when they announced both would run the same resolution....it was discussed a lot and I'm surprised you missed the thread...
The thing with this though is that the game isn't cross gen. Based on Ubisoft's horrible statement, I could see them using that fact as an excuse as to why they can't do a 1080p patch similar to those games you've mentioned.
They shouldn't have said anything at all involving parity to be honest. Many would have assumed that the PS4 version would have better visual effects and/or a more stable frame rate even at the same resolution. Just really stupid.

If there is GPU resources to spare and the game is CPU bound, why would they limit the resolution?
What the absolute shit is this from Ubisoft, is this a joke:
UBISOFT: ASSASSIN'S CREED UNITY COULD NOT RUN ON WII U
"It wouldn't be possible."
"It wouldn't be possible, in our minds wed be cheating fans by providing a lesser version of the same game".
But It is OKAY to cheat PS4 Owners to a lesser version of the game??
What if neither game could run at 1080p?? People seem to think that 1080p is the benchmark for next gen but what if it isn't? ?
The game has 4 player coop and a very large crowd system working and a very open a free roaming world....maybe the differences will be in other areas going foward
I doubt that 1080p vs 900 is really going to change the experience of the game
Does this mean Farcry 4 will be 900p on both?
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I remember reading that most of(if not almost all) of the multi-platform games from the PS360 era were generally superior on the X360. If this was in fact the case, then I feel that this could set a very bad precedent for gaming. Now I will come out and say while I have owned previous Xbox systems I have no real desire at the moment to buy a XB1(I primarily play RPG's which are rather lacking on MS systems historically) and am primarily a PS user.
Now, if I am correct about last gen, I feel all those that are cheering about this are probably the biggest hypocrites as if this had been enforced last gen they would have been the loudest in complaining about the 360 version being held back by the PS3.
In regards to this being bad for gaming in general, I am looking at a worse case scenario of which all developers decide to make all multi-plats have 'Enforced parity' for all future releases. So imagine if this happens and the next gen systems come out in 5-7 years with the new MS systems being more powerful than the next Playstation. Would you be happy if you suspected that game on your system were being held back because of this issue? Could this be the thing that takes over from ubiquitous dlc as being the most hated/damaging thing in gaming?

Not even Microsoft's money can buy that. Buying exclusivity would be wiser.why would ms pay for parity and not pay for the better version?

Eh? Gimping one of your versions and needlessly giving your competitors an advantage hurts sales even more.I think we all could have predicted this pre-launch. Devs have always developed for the weaker console, and ported to the better one. It worked against MS for the original Xbox, but for them with the 360. I'm sure they fully believed that it would work for them this gen, too.
I don't think they understood how well #Resolutiongate would resonate with a lot of vocal gamers. Mostly, their launch was run so poorly, that this is just another area that makes it easy to ding the XB1.
But at some point, it will become obvious that publishers will sell more games if they both systems have nearly identical looks and gameplay. Putting out a game that lets one set of fanboys tout their superiority over another set of fanboys hurts sales.
Regardless, I cannot fathom how they thought this was good information to release. It's almost as bad as their excuse that women are too hard to animate. They would be best served keeping their mouths shut. I'm sure Microsoft, if they paid for parity, aren't happy.

There's a PC version right?
That'll be at least 1080p, 60fps, right?
You realize consoles hold back PC games too right with inferior hardware?
No one is saying PS4 has to be 1080p. We are saying, it has to be better graphically than XB1. Parity does not have any place in a scenario where one system is notably weaker.
Uh no? Without consoles pc wouldn't even get these games. The games target specific requirements which are the closed platforms, so the better the hardware the better it'll scale to high end pc's.

My bet
As watch dogs, ACU target 900p30 for ps4 and 720p30 for xbox.
Microsoft could have paid more dev time to ubi to improve xbox version. More money always means better performance. Devs have to set a goal in order to reach a date, but what is good enough for them can always be better with external funding.
Maybe they can release a post launch patch for 1080p in ps4 using the tricks they found in these extran man work days. Using it in release date could not be fair.
