Looks like Driveclub PS+ Edition might not be coming today

I accept the "situation" because I'm an adult. If you own a PS4 and subscribe to PS+, you're getting, at minimum, 24 games for $50. You're paying $2 a year per game (less so really if you're buying things at discount regularly). The choice of games is- I'm guessing- subject to change, correct?

I think PS+ is ultimately a great deal, which is something that seems pretty universal. To call customer service over the third "free" game this month not being updated as soon as you would like it seems somewhat petty.

I don't know if it's an age thing, or maybe because I'm just not the prototypical hardcore gamer, but I think a little perspective is needed. The sun will rise tomorrow, I'll go to work, and if I come home and Driveclub is available, I'll download it. If not, I'll wait til it does.

I'm less annoyed at the game not being out and more annoyed that crap like this happens on a recurring basis nearly every time the store updates.

I don't know if it's an age thing, but as an adult with a job that I'm expected to actually do and be evaluated yearly for my performance, the fact that this team has had a running track record of horrible execution of the PSN store annoys me while I'm sure there are people in this economy that could execute this properly and would kill for the job.

It's not a free game.

I know PS+ is a good deal but it's a service we pay for. At the very least they should be upfront about things. This would not even be an issue if they actually communicated with their costumers.

You don't pay for the free games. Read your terms of service. They can revoke/rescind/stop providing them at any time with no obligation of notice or consent from you.

I don't understand why I keep seeing this.

Grace Chen Time being a thing for 10 years is the real embarrassment.

Terms of what?! Who reads those!

I was planning on playing it tonight, then based on how much I liked it, buying it tomorrow on the way home from work. Damn you, Sony. YOU'VE DELAYED MY PLANS FOR THE LAST TIME!!!

Glad you liked it.

It's a very specific type of racing game, pure skill based, no frills. It's fantastic and fills a gap that very few racing games even try to fill anymore. I love that we've got two such different racing games in so short of time, both phenomenal.

And I'm not a Mario Kart fan anymore, but everyone tells me MK8 is really good too. So it seems like a great year to be a racing fan all around. PlayStation fans should straight give a middle finger to review consensus and try for themselves: they might be surprised how great it is. Because it is fucking great

Annoying but nothing to get upset over. It would be nice if Sony explained what was going on; transparency is always appreciated and I imagine people would be more sympathetic if they understood the situation.

I'd like to think there's some middle ground between people flipping their shit over not getting a game right away, and people being entirely apathetic towards services they pay for.

It's not like this is the first time they've fucked up a store update and then gone silent about it. I don't even care about playing Driveclub tonight, but it would be nice if they could finally fix this problem. It's not like those Grace Chen jokes came out of nowhere.

I just want my game!

I paid for it I want it.. I will not let Sony use me like a puppet, I am human and I have the right to have what I paid for! I just wrote a letter to Sony for all those behaviors and trust me they will listen guys. My plan is longterm but I will get them, nobody should give them a free pass.

And yes, I am joking.

Similar reasons why people think its free.

No no, I'm saying that's the game plan. I haven't actually played it yet. But I appreciate the impressions.

That's my point, nothing we get from PS+ is free.

I will never understand why people use the amount of games we get a year as a defense for Sony's shitty management of anything PSN related. We pay for the service they advertise, people have the right to be pissed when they screw up.

I certainly would be if we were given a reasonable reason why it isn't up yet.

I was never really excited for this game. (Racing games aren't my thing) however, the fact this occurred is kinda dumb. When Soony quotes a time/release date, they should do best to meet it. Not stay quiet and devs have to respond hours later.

and that sir is how you get in this position

Geez, it's already been almost 10 years, hasn't it? Yeah, yeah, it's technically 8, but It feels like yesterday the PS3 was released. Unless you're going all the way back to the PSP's release in 2005. But as I recall, the PSP didn't get an online store until after the PS3's release.

You don't buy them in the sense of legal ownership, but it seems absurd to say that you don't pay for them.

No, that's not what I mean. I mean you are not "paying" for them in any contractual sense. You can't say, "Where's my PS+ "free"/"paid for"/"obligated" game?" There isn't one, which is indicated in the ToS.

The money you pay for PS+ is pretty clearly "allocated" for a particular subset of services of which "free games" are not one. That's what I mean.

You pay for what they give you contractually.

You pay with the expectation to get 2-3 games a month from them. Sure you don't own them but you still pay with those incentives in mind.

Why do they advertise the "free" games so much if it's not the main selling point of the subscription.

You are aware that Sony is creating that wrong mindset with their marketing?

This is honestly the first time I remember them messing up on a release in a long time. It used to be a weekly thing.

To me it's not a huge deal that it hasn't released yet.

The biggest thing is that Sony and the developer have remained silent about the whole thing.

Seriously, just throw people an update.

This is honestly the first time I remember them messing up on a release in a long time. It used to be a weekly thing.

Driveclub PS+ Edition is an additional perk from what it seems. The other PS+ games launched just fine.

I'm fine with waiting a few hours for an additional perk. It will take me forever to download the damn thing anyway.

Completely false

Biggest release of the year so far was Destiny and that went on smooth as butter.

This. I've been absolutely amazed watching the comments fly of how the release of driveclub is to blame.

The missing ps+ edition is an annoyance for sure, and I think it speaks to one of many problems with how sony is handling ps+. However, the bigger issue for me was missing out on multiple game invites, friend invites, etc throughout the day because the service, sadly, 100% sucks. Today has been the worst for me thus far, but this isn't a new issue. Members have been talking about problems like this for well over a week. It simply is in no way excusable for an online service that is paid for to perform like this as frequently as it has been.

I'm a PS+ member because I get free PSone Classics, exclusive access to Betas and a free Qore subscription.

I wonder if it being an additional game has anything to do with it. I have no idea how their servers work but if there were only 6 slots to upload games to, that could make things a tad tricky.

Sony doing it's best to destroy PS+ and psn reputation, and now they are charging 49.99 for this stuff so there is no excuse "well it's free" people are paying for this stuff. they deserve answers.

Guess it's not out now...

Guess I'll sell my system and swear off from Sony products for good.

I gave up my day with my kids for this.

I divorced my wife and lost custody when she couldn't handle my Sony tats and my Driveclub-inspired scarification. She said I was obsessed when I legally changed my name to Evolution James Bartholomew Studios, but I knew she was just jealous. What'd she expect, that I'd change my name to Janis? That's a girl's name for god's sake! Ridiculous!

So what if my kid skipped a few lunches, there were trailers and new info was released, I mean I missed lunch those days, too. You don't see me bitching about it, crying and banging on the walls. He always smells like crap, too, like my wife never changes him or something. I mean whenever I shit my pants from a new trailer, at least I have the common sense to change, age be damned!

But today was supposed to be the day. Here I am sitting in my lawnchair, naked mind you, ready for the PS+ version of DC. I can't afford the full game yet, she took that with the little ass machine. I managed to nab the 10 inch tv from the nosy old lady who used to call the cops on me whenever I won yelling matches with MY son. Don't even ask how I managed to get a converter, but I got it and I feel like I could drown on all the mouthwash I needed after. I barely kept the PS4 hidden when they went through my crap and decided it all belonged to "her". And now, I'm sitting here in the dark corner of a neighbor's shed, stealing outlets and wifi (who still uses admin as a password?), looking at a bottle of lube that only gets more and more empty, waiting for love that was obviously too good to be true. Whatever asshole lives here keeps a mirror on every wall, and I have no choice but to see myself every time I check for the release. I see a man, standing up and screaming "FUCKING HELL SONY, WTF?" in whispers so as not to get caught. What is wrong with me? I must have done something, made some sort of decision, a mistake along the way, that took me off the right track that I was on.

I'm pretty sure it was the TV, I should have gone for a bigger one, cause that old hag is probably gonna rat me out.

Bit on the nose.

5/10

Amazed they haven't said anything yet. I love when shit like this happens and the entire social media team just goes off the grid.

Has Sony seriously not said a word about this yet? My goodness, such a bizarre PR blunder. It's doing them no favors. Over 600 comments on the PS Blog and one of the only times there is no replies at all there, and they're just acting like this thing does not exist.

Basically: WHAT IS HAPPENING?!

I mean, why would they not even say anything? Who does that?

People defending Sony over this are ridiculous.

It's 10pm on the east coast now - that's not "today" for most people on a week day (particularly counting download time) because, surprise, surprise - most of us work (well, those of us that don't work on the PSN Store in NA work anyway).

The fact of the matter is that the PSN store in NA has been run by a bunch of buffoons for years and for some reason SCEA doesn't care and SCE as a whole doesn't seem to want to do anything about it by making examples out of any of the idiots that are apparently in charge of it.

It's hurting their brand and it's hurting the software that's affected by the incompetence of the people that they have running the operation.

Between the incompetence on the store and the incompetence in the PS4 firmware development team and the fairly lousy WWS output thus far we can only hope MS pulls out some NPD wins through the holidays so that maybe Sony will start giving a shit about actually doing right by their customers.

Yea, I can't believe the number of times I've been disappointed at Sony since the PS4 launch.

This will be the first and last time I ever by a console this early in a gen :/

Just sold my Sony products guys. They can hurt me no more.

I'll buy the walkman off you, if you still have it.

You pay for what they give you contractually.

That would be incorrect where I live for a whole host of reasons. Can you link the US terms of service for PS+, or SEN if they are a part of the same conditions? I can only find the European ToS but struggle to believe they could be so different, even with the US's reputation for terrible consumer protection.

I don't know why they don't have automated store updates instead of random ass times whenever the community guy feels like it.

Lol at people believing what phone reps say.

I don't give a shit about the Driveclub delay (mostly because I'm in Europe where it's not supposed to be out yet), but your post sums up how I feel about Sony's last year. After the incredible year of PS+ on the PS3 and Vita in addition to the amazing PS4 hype and wonderful launch, it feels like they've run out of gas or something, and I can feel my opinion starting to turn a bit.

The store updates are a mess, and the firmware should not still be without any way of organising content a year after launch. Get your fucking shit together, Sony.

And people who paid for PS+ and relied on Sony's advertising regarding the availability of the game have every right to be annoyed, though it's not yet a refund situation. The amount of corporate apologists in every thread like this always astonishes me. Really though, it's the lack of communication rather than the delay that is the issue. Delays happen, so what. But one line explaining why would defuse people's frustration immediately, and stop people from checking every ten minutes if it's out yet.

Exactly.

I don't give a shit about Drive Club being late. It's everything about the store, the continual compounding errors, and complete lack of communication.
