This is not the way to introduce anime to the mainstream. I'm reminded of the nerdy anime fan + dad comic.
I want the president of Dominos pizza to introduce her.
RurouniZel pls
Miku isn't anime. She's just one of the many musical software for your computer called Vocaloids.
Not gonna lie, I had no idea what this was and had to search for it.
And now I'm just confused. Why is this a thing?
Stop trying to make Hatsune Miku happen in the US. She's not gonna happen.
IIRC, a lot of posters on the OT side don't even visit the gaming side. The real question is... why it shouldn't be a thing?
Anyway i'm a little surprised that there's people in a place like gaf who don't know who/what Miku is. I understand not being fans as I'm not a fan in any way (i only find a little tune to be actually bearable to listen) but i thought its existence to be pretty widespread in these kind of places.
its gonna happen
"Anime" is just the modern day umbrella term for "creepy Japanese crap"

So...who on GAF is really excited about this?

I'm pretty excited, I would love to upload myself and become a virtual Miku once the machines take over.
Honestly, I have never seen this once before this thread. Guess I just overlooked the references/threads about it.
How/When did this become a thing?
Agreed. It doesn't take a genious to figure out tonight won't end well. I think vocaloid is the defining musical technology of the era but it's still a very strange concept. You've gotta be eased into vocaloid. You can't just throw it on a stage and expect people to not be confused and kinda weirded out.
I belive V3 has an english voice bank, but it's not great.Does Hatsune Miku speak English? I mean, she does right?
For people like me who have no idea who the hell that is:

And a video of a performance.
...what is this, I don't even
What's the target audience for this?

What in the hell? I already thought the holograms of dead artists was bad... What's the target audience for this?

Anime is already mainstream, didn't you see the new Pharrell music video?
