pleases no

I'm reading this right now, I don't know why anyone thought this was a great idea.

Please, YES!

It wasn't JUST a "great" idea, it was the BEST idea. Infact, you can even say it was the most SUPERIOR idea ever had!

Superior spider man is still ongoing, so...

Is it? I thought the latest one was just another continuation for Spider-Verse and that was it. I don't think they're doing anymore beyond the 2 comics post-ending.

I dont think they'd sell it either, I think they'd reach a deal

Yeah I think Sony may look at finding a way to get itself into the MCU for the benefit it would bring. Maybe a closer relationship with marvel writers etc. so they can boost movie quality etc.

I mean rumblings are the venom movie is being shit canned and it was intended to be one of the building a bigger Spiderman universe pillars.

Believe.

Sony has a whole spiderman universe planned, I don't think they'll sell it unless two or three of the movies bomb

They might have come up with some deal where Sony gets a cut of the Spider-Man Marvel movies with the understanding that Marvel would franchise SM.

It's a long shot no doubt.

Considering the financial situation Sony is in, and they fact they sold all the merchandising rights back to Disney, I think they could sell. The prospect of spending all that money, and getting very little back may not be worth it to them anymore.

Why would Sony sell back the Spider Man rights or whatever? Aren't they pushing forward with their awful Amazing Spider Man franchise and aren't they doing a Venom movie and Sinister Six?

Marvel hasn't said anything. unlikely we don't get at least a couple more as spider-verse goes into full swing.

It can't be something TOO huge, otherwise the Hollywood trades would have been all over it before now, I think. We'd have hints at something beyond a "what-if" piece from Cinema Blend.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's going to be THAT big if it's a Marvel Studios announcement as opposed to a Marvel Comics announcement.

Venom is said to be on the cutting block. Sinister Six maybe a soft reboot of the franchise with a new actor apparently. Sinister Six sounds awful too because instead of it being Spidey vs his villians its supposedly Spiderman teams up with his 6 famous villains to fight a bigger threat

I don't think they do.

I think that MIGHT have been the plan, but ASM2 didn't do anywhere near as well as they thought.

Sony is better off here making a "deal" to incorporate spidey into the MCU, getting a boost in viewership from being tied into the rest of the marvel films, as well as a larger cast to play with.

Well GotG doing gangbusters and ASM2 tanking might have caused Sony to do some hard soul searching.
