Why would Sony sell back the Spider Man rights or whatever? Aren't they pushing forward with their awful Amazing Spider Man franchise and aren't they doing a Venom movie and Sinister Six?

Because Sony is in pretty deep financial trouble. If their situation is dire enough, I can see them selling the Spidey rights to Marvel/Disney.

But that wasn't the only rumor regarding Spidey. The Badass Digest report everyone's referencing outlined 4 different scenarios, not just the one.

But yeah, "Spidey's going back to Marvel" would be their biggest news of 2014, I'm pretty sure.

That said, it's a lot easier to sneak "REALLY BIG NEWS" past comics journalists than it is entertainment journalists, as comics journalism is by and large, a massive joke even beyond the low standards most video game enthusiasts are used to from the gaming press.
