Being in Canadia, anywhere specific I should get a Clevo from? Really intrigued by the new 970M models, not sure if I'd jump for 980M.

I'm thinking Eurocom as they're based in Can (according to this site) but has anyone had experience with them? can I count on them delivering what I specified and it working as planned for an extended period of time?

Thanks, great thread.

Yeah, you are correct - I would need to replace the chassis or motherboard (whatever that means) :( So, what should I do now? I don't want to do spend over £900 if that's possible.

If I want to play the games mentioned at 1080p/60fps with high settings on a 17 inch screen, what laptop and configuration would you recommend from PCSpecialist or any other UK Clevo reseller? I hope that's not asking too much of you.

Your best move available, is to wait for the GTX 960M. The Optimus V will be updated with it, and you can build a pretty nice one for £900.

Go with Reflex Notebooks. Eurocom is shady.

Hi guys. I'm currently looking towards a good laptop and I was wondering which would I should get. Keep in mind that I'm a college student so I will need do papers and other school related activities on it. I would like to play games on at least high settings with a 30 fps as the minimum. Recommendations?

Thank you. I assume I'll be able to build one with a similar configuration to my current quote, while still staying in the £900 range. Can't wait!

Yeah the 960M should come in as a straight replacement for the 860M, at the same pricepoint.

Take a look at the posting rules in the OP. Country? Budget? Size?

Has anyone heard any good(or bad) things about ViDock?

Haven't heard bad things. Check out the NBR forum.

Got my MSI GS60 Ghost Pro and it's really nice, it's wider than I thought, but very thin which I love.

It feels very good quality wise.

Whoops sorry about that. I live in the United States. The size of the laptop doesn't really matter to me and the budget would be around $1,300. Like I said before, I want to game in 1080p on at least high settings and 30 fps being the minimum. It also has to be good for school work.

Can you afford this? Because that's what you need for what you've stated.

Cool, checked them out and their site looks good. Some are equipped/have the option for the new gen and some are not, also I was looking for a thinner one like the Eurocom M5 Pro. I like the product but not their reputation.
Should I just hold off for a bit until more dealers have them? I don't know what the base Clevo model #is either.
And if reflex doesn't bring any in, who else should I keep an eye on? Was thinking Xotic and Pro-Star.

I am intrigued by the Alienware 13. If it can retain the same awesome build quality, at the 1000-1100 dollars price point, it could really be a winner.

The big wat is that it's not launching in november with broadwell and apparently it is in fact launching with ULV cpus which is like wat. if it comes with an 860m won't it be bottlenecked?

Its thin, but not ultra book thin, but its thick enough for you to swap your own SSD, M2 SSD and ram, which is awesome.

It's weird. I have never been into AW's lights and swag LEDs and stuff, but good build quality, excellent keyboard, 8 hours of battery, decent speakers.. all those things add up. But most of all, just the fact that it will have sufficient cooling with two fans makes me hope it won't heat up to razor blade 14 levels.

Hmm, actually that "gaming series" logo on the back of the MSI is kind of a deal breaker. I need something I can also use in a professional environment without it looking like a toy. That's part of the appeal of Sagers.

I'm pretty sure XoticPC lets you remove the logo when you customize it, no?

Their decision to go with ULV CPUs is baffling. Heck Clevo's 13" is using full spec quad core i7s.

It looks pretty classy in person. Gets compliments and all.

It looks nice but I really need something that looks like a business laptop, so that excludes anything with the word "gaming" on it unless it's just one of those little stickers below the keyboard. I'm watching for Sagers, is there anything else that could work? Is Lenovo making anything with 900m series?

Requirements: Current games at high settings 30fps+, 1080p matte screen, 900m series video card, 15", numpad, looks like a business laptop, decent cooling, $1500 max.

Wait are there only a couple of specific laptops that allow for GPU upgrade? I'm not entirely clear.

MSI and Alienware show the most upgradability. But this MSI GT72 deal is the first time a company has officially supported the selling and replacing of an old GPU.

Clevo/Sager usually comes down to BIOS support, which is spotty at best.

Pick a Sager.

So I've been looking at the new shiny stuff coming up in this thread. I was thinking of investing in a boss laptop at some point but then realized I don't need that for my purposes.

I'm in the US. I'm looking to buy around tax return time, honestly, but I want to get an idea on what to shoot for now.

I'm looking for a laptop that will play pretty much any fighting game thrown at it, with a solid frame rate. I'm also entertaining of using the laptop for streaming. Which means it needs to be able handle a USB capture card, microphone(s) and usb camera(s). Good cooling is a must.

I'm not looking to spend a ton. A graphics card thats a few gems back is ok if it could keep up with fighting games. Under $1000 and preferably under $800.

So i sold my y50 to my friend. Now wait for y50 with 960m continues.

I wish i could buy sager laptops here in Saudi Arabia. Shipping charges are 400 $ which is ridiculous and beats the whole point of getting sager laptops in the first place

Country: USA

Max Budget: I'd love to keep it around $1000.00

Max Size: Size is not a concern

Planned Usage: The laptop will be for my wife, she primarily plays MMO's (not recent / demanding ones), although she also occasionally plays The Sims 4, SimCity, etc.

She already has a nice desktop computer for gaming, but wants something portable in addition. It would be great to find a laptop with an 860M or equivalent just to future proof somewhat in case a new MMO comes out that she might be interested in.

I was hoping to wait until black Friday to find a good deal, but I decided I would like to surprise her with it as soon as possible.

So, Im thinking of getting my next laptop with Raid 0 since it is cheaper to get 2x 256 ssds rather than 1x512 one...and I have heard a lot of good performance things about it. Is there any reason to go for 1x 512 gb ssd instead of 2x256gb in raid 0 besides the higher risk of failure?

MSI's implementation has always intrigued me (ctrl+f "super raid")... that 1600 MB/s read speed! Must make load times hilariously fast.

Not really an answer, but SSDs really are the perfect thing imo to RAID0, I mean, the chance of failure is already minuscule (I think) compared to standard HDDs... where you'd maybe want RAID 5 for the redundancy.

Haha, its funny that you bring up that MSI cause I was looking at an MSI laptop with raid 0 ssds.
Just trying to get a new laptop makes me realize how complex and beautiful these machines are. And it kinda amazes me at how someone/team came up with these techniques. Its just fascinating to read about how these systems work

Can anyone link me to an extra battery that will work with the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro.

Amazon or newegg will work.

This is all I could find.

This.

Anyone know if they're going to release ultrabay version of the 900 series?

They are not.
hey what are the gpus that are projected to run witcher 3 nicely, im kinda clueless about this

GTX 980M, maybe the 970M too.

Will I be able to upgrade my 870m into a 9xxm in my MSI GT60 Dominator laptop?

They've released a GT60 w/ 970M, so your chances are high. The one question is, will MSI sell you the heatsink.

Any opinions on this laptop?

ASUS ROG G750JS-DS71 17.3-inch Gaming Laptop, GeForce GTX 870M Graphics

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IEV85OU/?tag=neogaf0e-20

A lot of good reviews. My daughter has a more budget Asus and I like it's build, trackpad etc. I have been using a Lenovo and not a huge fan of it's build and trackpad etc.

Any opinions on that Asus?

I'd recommend grabbing one of the new models with the GTX970M instead. The price is about the same but the performance is probably quite a lot better,

Were my listed requirements a little to specific to get a reply or did I forget important information?

Looks like I didnt mention anything about size or resolution. Anything 14" and up should work and I'd like a 1080p screen.

I'm sorry, I swore I replied to you also. Your best bet is this. Nothing around $800 will play your fighting games at 60fps.

Ahh I see these are due out in a few weeks? Like this one?

http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=34-232-203

Is that pretty much the exact same laptop with a 970?

Yes. There are minor design changes, but it's the same machine.

Thanks. Now I have a target to shoot for. It may take a bit longer to get to the point where I'm willing to pull the trigger then I originally anticipated though.
