Do you feel sorry for certain sports fans in which they're stuck with shitty teams?

No, why would I? No one is forcing them to be a fan or whatever. Having said that I don't follow sports at all. I couldn't care less whether the local teams win or lose or any team for that matter. To each their own I just don't get it (sports).

I definitely agree. It's more fun that way.

From what I know, Orlando FL, Memphis, TN, San Antonio, TX, Oklahoma City, OK, Portland, OR, Salt Lake City, UT, Sacramento, CA, & Auburn Hills, MI only has Basketball,

Calgary, Alberta (Canada), Edmonton, Alberta (Canada), Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada), Winniped, Mantioba (Canada), Montreal, Quebec (Canada), Ottawa, Ontario (Canada), San Jose, CA, Saint Paul, MN, Buffalo, NY, Sunrise, FL, Raleigh, NC, Columbus, OH, Newark, NJ, & Uniondale, NY only has Hockey,

East Rutherford, NJ, Orchard Park, NY, Foxborough, MA, Jacksonville, FL, Landover, MD, Green Bay, WI, & Santa Clara, CA only has Football (East Rutherford has both the Jets & the Giants), &

St. Petersburg, FL, & San Francisco, CA only has Baseball.

The rest of the cities have about between 2 to 3 professional sports (depending where you are), with Denver, CO, Philadelphia, PA, & Chicago, IL being the only three cities to have all 4 professional sports (with Chicago having an additional Baseball team).

St Pete has 2 other Pro Teams , The Bucs and the Lightning. They are called Tampa Bay and not Just Tampa for a reason.

Whatever it's the NBA (Basketball), the NHL (Hockey), MLB (Baseball), MLS (Soccer), or the NFL (Football), do you feel bad for certain sports fans, knowing that they're stuck with some of the most shittest teams ever?

Examples: Oakland, California: The NFL fans living there are being stuck with the Oakland Raiders as their football team.
Or in Jacksonville, Florida in which NFL fans living there are stuck with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Or in Tampa, Florida in which NFL fans living there are stuck with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Just my opinion, of course.

No because Leafs fans do it to themselves.

Don't really follow baseball and basketball much. I get more interested if the Sox and Celtics are doing well and in the playoffs but only because I have friends that follow them more. Was fun as hell watching the Sox World Series last year though, only time I really enjoyed watching baseball.

Also, if you're in the city of whatever sports team wins the championship the celebrations in the streets are unreal. Super cool experience.

Sup buddy

Chillin, enjoying people pretend their teams have it worse than Buffalo's.

I was raised on Kelly and Mogilny. Now I'm just bitter.

*Edit*

Though I did enjoy that short period where Satan was our top scorer. What was it, 52 total points in an entire season? Such offense.

I got this tag because I am becoming the face of sports sadness on Neogaf.

Leafs fan
Raptors fan
Blue Jays fan
Browns fan

My time will come though.

Oilers fan here. Haven't made the playoffs since I was in 6th grade and on pace for a drought longer than the Leafs and Panthers. Only bright side is that the flames are shit with us.

I was almost thinking we could be friends...

Until this =(

Just kidding, you're alright
But still... >.>

Sorry bruh. Sport just doesn't interest me. Watched them play the Yankees last season at fenway when they were actually good. Even at the game I didn't find it that entertaining.

That being said I will always hype on the boston hype wagon if the teams are doing good. Fun to follow with the rest of the city.

Wish the Revolution was decent too

But... 1992-1993.

I was 9 and 10 years old then.

Oh god this thread made me realize since I've been legally able to drink (age 19 in Ontario)

This is what I've seen in regards to these 4 teams:

Browns...nothing, I've only been a fan since 2007

Blue Jays...nothing.

Maple Leafs...Conference finals 2002, lost in the first round 2003, Second round 2004, lost in the first round 2013

Raptors...lost in the first round 2002, lost in the first round 2007, lost in the first round 2008, lost in the first round 2013

Well that's a tad depressing.

If you live in Southern Ohio, you have not seen a pro sports team advance a single round in any playoffs, even 1-game playoffs, in 20 years, when the Reds advanced to the NLCS.

Reds, Bengals, and, if you want to include it, the Blue Jackets, too.

I dare any city to top that. Two fucking decades without advancing a SINGLE ROUND in any playoffs. Who seriously has it worse than us?

Cleveland right? I mean it has to be Cleveland. Or wait the Cavs through the power of LeBron made it to the NBA Finals. Fuck, I think you're right Vas.

I'm in STL. Happy with baseball and hockey like anyone else, but the Rams are a real sore spot. Good thing they won't be for long! (if the rumors are to be believed)

No one is stuck with any team. Team loyalty is this stupid ass concept created by fans to try and give themselves worth.

We live in a world where you can watch other teams. So do it. This blind loyalty doesn't exist in any other part of life except sports.

Being a fan is about going through the good and the bad times.

I can't feel sorry for other teams because Detroit Lion's fans are the fans that people feel sorry for.

Thankfully I've also been partial to the Green Bay Packers since I was a kid so I'm not always bummed out watching football.

I really feel bad for my pops. He's an everything Maryland/DC fan, including being a United fan even though he has only been to one game in his life lol. But he always wanted me to be a fans of his teams but that never happened. Steelers, Celtics, and all Maryland University sports for me...

My dad has broken 2 tvs and 5 remotes over the past 3 years
all thanks to the Redskins... I know not to call him on Sundays lol

Well that's a tad depressing.

I'm 19 now and it'll probably the same story in the next two decades, too. One day, Kave. One day we might have teams that don't result in several upsets per year.

Nobody says you have to root for the home team. In fact, it's kind of boring (annoying) when everyone does. There's nothing I like less than listening to local sports talk and everyone is talking about the same thing, albeit in different ways (overly whiny, overly positive, etc.).

Forget that. I live in Charlotte, hate the Panthers. I hope they lose every game. If not for civic pride, I'd very much like for them to move to another city so the local stations will actually have better games on Sunday afternoons.

Darn United States residents, liking the United States, always going on and on about the United States, everybody's doing it. There's nothing I like less than listening to local talk and everyone is talking about the same thing, albeit in different ways. Nobody says you have to like the home country. Why can't I get more people to talk about England around here?

As someone from New England who currently lives in Toronto: I feel a little sorry for Toronto sports fans. All their teams are bad (except for the Raptors kind of). It is fun sometimes to watch their teams collapse after high hopes at the beginning of the season (eg. Blue Jays last 2 years and TFC this year).

It's a shame Nomar wasn't on that time.

Indeed. That trade was part of what made it all possible, but it's a shame that he wasn't able to be there for it - and it's an absolute tragedy what his career could have been, given what it was before he got hit in the wrist.

Nope because when your team is boss, they're cunts to you. And when their team is boss, they're cunts who can't handle success.

The past 4 years of the Miami Heat have taught me, fuck everybody. Everyone is the enemy and must be destroyed.

No and ill tell you why.

In Rugby League I've followed a team called the South Sydney Rabbitohs, they haven't won a Premiership for 43 years back when they were the mot successful team of all time. 15 years ago they were kicked out of the competition because their financial situation and on field results had become so bad, but they fought their way into reinstatement through the legal system. Years of bad results followed until Russell Crowe bought the team in 2007, since then they have worked their way into becoming the powerhouse of the whole competition, if not the code itself. The most supporters, the best crowds.

Last week after 43 years of suffering and hitting the lowest of the lows, they won the Premiership. I've never seen more tears and joy from a crowd, the fans and the players all because of that history. It was so important to won player that he played through and was Man of the Match with a broken cheekbone and eye socket that he received in the first minute of the game.

So fairy tale results are still possible in sports, and that's why it's worth following your team regardless of how bad they are going

Yes. I live in San Francisco and it's crazy how much better our teams are lately than Oakland. And it'll be even worse when the
Warriors move to San Fran in a few years (though I think both towns can claim them as their team).

Only when the city really has nothing else going for it, and really could use a decent team to help morale

See: Buffalo, NY

No. As someone with a total disinterest in sports, I've always been confused by fans who cling to shitty teams just because they're from a certain city or state. If your area's team sucks, I don't get why you wouldn't just move your loyalty to the next closest team that doesn't suck. But maybe I'm missing something there. Sentimentality?

Precisely why I'm not a fan of any sports team to begin with. I just watch sports because they're enjoyable (though Hockey is kind of irritating because it takes too long just to see someone score).

Speaking for myself in particular it boils down to those teams are the ones I am able to go see in person. Sure, you can watch any team you want on TV but there is nothing quite like the experience of being in a stadium with thousands of other people cheering on the same team as you do. I'm not into religion but maybe that the same feeling religious folks get by gathering together with other like minded individuals to feel they are a part of something bigger. Being a fan of your local sports teams allows you to be a part of something bigger.

Nah, cowboys fans are so obnoxious they deserve it. Though missing the playoffs will sting a bit more this year than in the last few.

I feel bad for Browns fans because I like the browns.

Wait what? Are you saying that the bills aren't Buffalo's football team because the stadium is in orchard park? Or the patriots arent Boston's football team because the stadium is outside the city in foxborough?
