Cities/Countries you would like to see games set in

There's a hell of a lot more places than New York and renamed New York to set games in. Major props to inFamous SS for showing Seattle some love, but I want more. I think it would be interesting to see a game set in the Hampton Roads area. There's a lot of historical stuff there, there's the major tourist attraction of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront and there's also the largest concentration of military force anywhere on the planet.

As for countries, can we talk about Singapore?

I want a Pokemon Snap or survival/exploration style game set in the Galápagos Islands. Maybe even add a sci-fi twist or something that deviates from the history with Darwin's research.

Everywhere! Scandinavia, Spain, South America, China and I want much more of Africa. Far Cry 2 is the only game I know of that did open-world Africa. The environments themselves were good, but the world was empty, boring and the game design was poor.

I wish there were way more well done open-world games set in unique locations. Ubisoft is doing a pretty good job with Assassin's Creed in this regard, I must say. They did well with Italy.

Speaking as a native, Toronto should get some love. Although seeing the 16-bit CN Tower and SkyDome get nuked in Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon intro was good for a giggle.

To be honest it was refreshing to play ZombiU and have the game based in London of all places. At least it was off North America.

Battlefield 4 does go to Singapore

Spain, for the historical cities (apparently the Assassin's Creed movie will take place there, so close but still not a game :( ).
Scotland too, mostly for the landscapes. I'm not sure what kind of game I'd want to play there, but at least one where you could walk/fly around the countryside.
Canada ? Sure why not.

I'd also like urban games to try to capture the feeling of smaller cities, even villages, not always huge metropols like NY, Paris or Hong-Kong. The first Shenmue was amazing for that.

Philadelphia, but only because I've lived there most of my life!

Hometown bias aside, I'd like to see some non-London European cities. Maybe Madrid, or Athens, or Berlin.

Singapore would be really cool too. Or maybe Beijing or Shanghai.

You could also visit the Pißwasser HQ.
Yes, they could make all of the Rhine area available, so that you could drive over to Düsseldorf. ;)
jk

GTA Tokyo would be great. Even though there is already the Yakuza games, I never liked their gameplay and character design

Haha.
I made fun of Kölsch.

I think Scandinavia would be very cool to see.

Considering Remedy are finnish devs, I'd like to see them do something along the rural areas of Finland.

Newcastle upon Tyne in England would be perfect for open-world, Victorian mystery, Georgian period piece and it's close to the coast and Hadrian's Wall. Beautiful landscapes in nearby Northumberland and a really distinctive provincial English town with its own metro system. You could have Metro Toon Army: Geordieland Edition.

I'd love to see an open-world game set in/based on an older city that was built before streets were grids. Car chases around the winding, uneven, unpredictable streets of London or Paris would be way more interesting than another New York.

My adopted hometown of Bangkok, Sleeping Dogs 2 in Bangkok would be amazing, maybe spend a bit of time on one of the islands in Thailand too

Forza Horizon 3 set in the UK please. We have great roads, fantastic scenery, all weather types and are also home to the worlds most famous music festival. It's the devs homeland too. It makes sense.

England could be the main area where the festival takes place. Also featuring a couple of cities and some countryside.

Scotland up north for the mountains and twisty roads.

Wales for the Rallisport inspired rally events!

Do it Playground!
