Cities/Countries you would like to see games set in

Assassin's Creed Revelations, Uncharted 2, Driver 3, From Russia with Love... Istanbul has games about it more than any other city.

I'd say less popular cities, like Stockholm, Prague or Warsaw. Prague, especially. Some kind of 3D Castlevania game sets in Prague would be wonderful. Not by Mercurysteam, of course.

GTA in Amsterdam. High-speed bike chases please.

More like high-speed bicycle chases. And caravans. Don't forget the caravans. ;)

I would love having the Netherlands as an open-world setting though.

As a personal preference, I'd love to see a cool game set in Ireland. But don't get me started on Dublin. It's gotta be Cork!

Prague.

The first thing I thought, The Order 1886

Shanghai. It can be any time period, but Shanghai is a fascinating place no matter which way you slice it, and I'd love to explore it in virtual form.

Surprisingly, I don't think there are many games that show you Washington, D.C. There's a lot there: the Capitol and White House (obviously), a bunch of monuments and memorials, museums, cherry trees, the waterfront, and some pretty seedy ghettos not too far from all that nice stuff (where you can put some back-alley action).

All barely used countries and locations would be pretty exciting to me as long as they're not merely used as a back-drop. North-Korea, Indonesia and India would for instance all be pretty rad.

Perhaps a bit off-topic, but I also think the next God of War should use Hindu mythology.

Speaking as a native, Toronto should get some love. Although seeing the 16-bit CN Tower and SkyDome get nuked in Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon intro was good for a giggle.

To be honest it was refreshing to play ZombiU and have the game based in London of all places. At least it was off North America.

Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack! is also set in Toronto, it seems.

I'd like to see a Grand Theft Auto style game set in Toronto, though.

would like something akin to preclassical mesoamerican civilizations, or angkor wat would be another one.

Or a Bloodbourne set in a massive French Quarter -esque setting.

Am I the only one who thinks that you should have to say where you're from when you suggest ideas? I feel like everyone is just saying where they're from hahah.

Montreal.

We have a ton of devs here, yet no one wants to make a open-world game that takes place here. :(

Drive Club

Driving games don't really give you a good feeling of a location in my opinion, you're still mostly focused on the road and the cars, and the location is just there for aesthetics. It's like saying you visited Prague because you raced at 200 km/h on the St Charles bridge in Forza.
Games like Midtown Madness can give you the feeling of "visiting" a city, though. But that's because you can get through its streets and iconic monuments with a relative freedom.

Also, I am very curious where will Watch Dogs 2 take place. The Chicago they built was beautiful and joy to explore for me, so I hope they will select some great not-before-seen city again.

I wish Rockstar would get out of the rut of remaking the same cities over and over. Yes, NY and California are beautiful and well done. But remaking them in new engines over and over is kinda lame.

I want a Pokemon Snap or survival/exploration style game set in the Galápagos Islands. Maybe even add a sci-fi twist or something that deviates from the history with Darwin's research.

Having visited those places... I'm down for this. They are amazing and mindblowing and it's the best trip I've ever taken in my life.

A Pokémon Snap-like would be too easy though. Most of the animals there had few predators and didn't evolve a fear of human the way many mainland animals did, so they just lay there for all to see. xD The Equatorial jungle is a different story, however. I took a few treks in the Amazonian rainforest in Ecuador, and animals have so many predators that they hide constantly and are really difficult to spot. I'll always remember our native guide spotting animals I'd have never, ever spotted myself even if I knew where to look (everything from a small poison dart frog to a barely visible sloth hanging really high around the treetops).

Canada... Says no one ever :(
I would!

Playing a Native American hunter or something living out there in the Canadian wilderness, preferably pre-colonial times, could be really cool. Canada has amazing nature sceneries and wildlife.

And I was disappointed that the Montreal level in Deus Ex: Human Revolution wasn't a full-fledged hub like Detroit or Hengsha. That would have been really cool to see, especially since the game was developed in Montreal so it'd have been likely to be accurate.

Edit: for The Llama, yes, I am a Montreal resident. :P

Edit 2: oh, I want to see more games with an Angkor Wat-like setting. Eternal Darkness did it, and Dark Souls had a level with similar architecture but in a fantasy setting with tons of lava and it was really cool (even if gameplay-wise it kinda sucked). But other than that, I feel it's an underused setting. Same with ancient Egypt and Mesoamerica.

As a resident of Chicago, I'd absolutely love to see a GTA set here. I wanna see what rockstar does with my city. I was excited for Watch Dogs to be set in my city, but their interpretation just didn't cut it.

I've never lived in the city I recommended, though I've visited it more times than I can count. I'm from Miami, but I honestly don't think it's a great setting; there aren't many landmarks or defining features there.

Las Vegas from 1960

Perfect period and setting for Mafia Game :D

Holy shit, this please.

I'd like anything that's not in present day America, really, and playable through a character that isn't American. Maybe Dubai or Istanbul. Come to think of it 1920's New York would be rad. Go full Gatsby.

Only if we get a Death Wish style game set in 1970s New York as well.

Where's my Escape from New York game that is suppose to be set in an alternate 1988 where the entire city is turned into one huge prison, with segregated gangs and steam powered cars.

Also I want more games in British Columbia.

Travesty this never came out.

Cook a cat! I forgot they even mentioned a next-gen Getaway :( The most optimistic part of my brain says they're working on it but who knows? It's not like it wouldn't sell. Free-roam, London in a gritty cops and robbers story.

Fallout somewhere in the Rockies, except that the nuclear apocalypse hasn't completely destroyed all of the vegetation in the world.

Ancient Egypt. Not sure what type of game though. Would be fun to play a kind of "build a civilisation", sourcing water and food, constructing myths, fending off assaults, developing language, and building the Pyramids.

Have you guys heard of the city called New York? It's pretty indie.

In all seriousness, somewhere in East Europe like: Bulgaria, Ukraine or Czech Republic. If not, maybe other countries like Australia, Mongolia, Sweden.
Actually try and look for alternate locations for once.
