Cities/Countries you would like to see games set in

Survival-Horror set in Quinta da Regaleira, Sintra, Portugal:

Most people figure there's a real sequel on the way, it's just gonna take more time and after Triad Wars launches.

Man I sure hope so. Sleeping Dogs was a kickass game that has still has sooo much potential. Please don't let it go to waste Square Enix.

Would love to see Beijing in the 70/80s. Fuck, even 14 years ago it looked totally different from what it looked now with the majority still driving bikes.
Would love to see that.

You mean this?

Can I say a place instead of a city/country?

I'd quite like one set in a theme park. That is, set in the *entirety* of a theme park; not just the tourist areas, but also the behind-the-scenes workings.

Walt Disney World (or something based on it) could be excellent for that sort of thing: Not only do you have multiple theme parks, you have the hotels, a large sports area, forested regions, shopping areas.

Just as I was thinking that, another thought hit me: A Fallout could be fantastic in such a region. The Cult Of The Three Circles around the Magic Kingdom? Deathclaws lurking in the forests of Fort Wilderness? Ragtag bunches of survivors in Pleasure Island? Insane scientists who believe that Blizzard Beach is a naturally-occurring phenomenon and strive to mimic it?

I'd love to see an open-world game set in/based on an older city that was built before streets were grids. Car chases around the winding, uneven, unpredictable streets of London or Paris would be way more interesting than another New York.
Well Paris was pretty much demolished and rebuilt by Napoleon III, and it's as grid-like as it gets. Actually it's often used as an example for radial planning in cities ;)

Edit: gimme more hilarious RE4 Spain

I'd like to see a GTA in Glasgow based around neds, but I doubt we'll see a GTA that doesn't have guns in it really. Western Scotland would be varied enough I think.

Also, I kinda want to see how confusing they could make the voice acting for people unfamiliar with it.

I watched The Grand Budapest Hotel, and yep, that place would make for an excellent level in a game, especially for a Hitman or Dishonoured type genre.

Don't care as long as I can go in the buildings, and they have procedural processes that change depending on your interactions with residents, that's been a dream of mine for a while and seeing the nemesis system in work makes me hope that it can be implemented.

But London obviously, I would love to hold up a kebab shop steal the money then be driving to another mission and get smashed into by mobsters running a protection racket setting up a cross city chase....

*some random pics i snatched from the internet

and that's only the beaches for black flag-ish games,
u should see the forests that'll do any snake eater-ish games real justice,
the cities could do for any sleeping dogs

and we have dragons up in our mountains.

I really would have liked to see a full fledged Assassins Creed game set in the Qing Dynasty. Sort of like that upcoming Chronicles game but actually an Assassins Creed game.

Seriously Ubisoft, you had a protagonist set up in an interesting setting that no one has really seen in videogames where the Assassins in China are almost extinct and you pissed it away like that. Great job.

Was with you until this bit. First, GTA sucks, so no thanks, and two, there's not nearly enough crime* in Montreal for that to work. ;)

* Gangster-like crime, anyway... plenty of "enveloppes brunes" kind of crime I guess :P
Plenty of sex and strip clubs for GTA. Plus biker gangs, rival gangs, italian bombings. Plenty of violent activities.

Late 19th - early 20th century Rangoon/Yangon, Singapore, Hong Kong or Shanghai (early 20th, mostly). Mafia, contraband, corruption and vicious turf wars.

Late 70s - early 80s Paris, before they started taking closing up the catacombs seriously. Think about a heist game involving running through dank, bone-filled tunnels.
