Halo MCC: Halo CE footage in 1080p/60fps - IGN First

Damn you toggleable!

;)

Even if it's toggleable it shouldn't clutter the screen like that. They should prioritize the medals and not display every single one. For ex, don't display the generic kill medal (hell, they should abolish it).

The thing is that I want medals in CE, but not in the terrible way they've done it.

Yeah- I get it. But at least we can toggle them off instead of having them rammed down our throat for CE, and for the other games in the collection, we can have the medals just as we all know and love them.

The only game worth $460 dollars.

There is truth to this. I can't imagine any Halo fan not being happy with the work being done on this release.

Now, if only Reach and ODST could get the same treatment, bundled with every copy of Halo 5....

Shame that every game didn't get the Halo 2 Anniversary treatment, but it does still look better than a PC playing regular CE at 1080p.

Original HUD and sound effects aren't possible for Halo 1's campaign/multiplayer, are they?

they are, you can change back to the original game with a single click
the video above doesnt show that, its just Anniversary gameplay, but its possible, and it also has the original soundfiles then ofc
i think one of the earlier IGN First videos showed the transition between Anniversary and the regular CE game

The catch is that you have to buy an Xbox One :(

Awww come on, it's not that painful ;)

IMO any true Halo fan will already have an Xbox One anyway - Halo factored massively in my decision to get one. MCC is a massive validation of that. Unexpected but rather joyful.

I remember the framerate on the original xbox just CRAWLING whenever we had big matches on Sidewinder and there were hogs fishtailing across the ice -- seeing that bit of CTF on Sidewinder at that quality was incredible.

Pretty much. Halo was the only reason for the One for me.

Anyways, the game looks glorious, and I'm not sure whether or not I'll keep the medals. I care not for the Halo 4 style medals, but no biggie either way. I just want BTB Blood Gluch.

Day 1. God damn that song brings back memories ;-; I missed out on most of Halo 1, 2, 3 and I never finished 4 so this is going to be awesome. Probably the most bang for your buck that I've ever seen.

I'm thinking there are boatloads of Halo fans who are waiting to buy an Xbox One just for this game, but have not yet done so.

I'm not talking about the graphics, I'm talking specifically about the HUD and sound effects, which were clearly in the multiplayer footage. Halo 1 Anniversary didn't have an option to use the original sound effects or HUD, so I'm guessing the same will be the case here, unfortunately.

Maybe you should read my response instead of trying to be a comedian.

Huh? Just a harmless joke. No need to be upset, I wasn't trying to disparage your comment. I agree with you, looks cluttered. I don't even remember there being this many medals shown on the screen at once. IIRC, 3 medals would appear on screen and then if anything else showed up, it would fade away the least recent to make way for the new.

Outside of the 60FPS upgrade that maes this lookc razy especially after playing Halo 1 and 2 so much as a teen, I'm not really seeing the hubbub. I guess Halo 1 Anniversary kinda spoiled it for me.

This is probably the most value in a 60 dollar game ever. so much content. All in one place. Microsoft did a really good thing here.

I would have payer about 120 for all this stuff.

Does the game still have local MP / coop?
I think lan play still requires a certain level of onlineness, but this is from a Q&A from their blog:

Q: Can we still play local co-op and campaign?
-GravemindX2401

A: Yes, campaign co-op play will be supported across all four titles, both online and split-screen. In addition, we will be changing to a horizontal view for the split-screen multiplayer for Halo 2: Anniversary. The campaign co-op breakdown is as follows:

Halo: CE Anniversary – 2 players max, split-screen or online
Halo 2: Anniversary – 2 players max, split-screen or online
Halo 3 – 4 players max online, 2 players max split-screen
Halo 4 – 4 players max online, 2 players max split-screen

I can't wait for this game! Less than a month to go. I never really got to play CE multiplayer as I got on the Halo train with Halo 2. I'm excited to try it out online given that I'm always hearing it's got the best MP.

Halo will benefit greatly from 60 fps too.

Now, serious question:
I've never been a devoted FPS online player, so I dont know in pratice how that "ping" thing will affect my experience. But the thing is, for some stupid ISP reason, even giving the fact that we have a MS dedicated server here in Brazil, my nearest recognised server is on central USA, what I believe return to me a ping value of 200~250ms. How much playable will this be for me? Should I assume that the online competitive multiplayer is pratically unplayable for me?

I'm like extremely excited for this game. But I fear for my online experience.

I'm going to end up purchasing an Xbox One just for this even though I shouldn't be spending that kind of money.

But I will because this is Halo. :p

Have never played Halo before. And man... I'm excited! It looks SO GOOD!

Do you mean you've never played Halo CE or that you've never played any Halo game?

Either way, I'm jealous.

My PC back in the day used to struggle running Halo 1 and Quake 3 at 60fps unless I ran them in 640x480 and even then it was jumpy, so for Halo 1 I used the built in 30fps cap, playing the game at 60 will be a treat.
