Radical Repelling looks fun. Might have to break ou my NZ account.

Anything look promising with tonight's releases? I like hack n' slashes and there's that Avenged Sevenfold game. But PG made it pretty clear that they weren't impressed by it.

Nothing else is grabbing me.

We at Halfbrick have finally soft launched our new internally developed game - Radical Rappelling!

It is quite fun for sure, liking it so far, only wished it was premium and not with so much IAP, but its fun to play.

Anything look promising with tonight's releases?

Besides this one, which I am buying tonight (a premium app, hell yes!)...

New game from Michael Brough (868 Hack, Zaga-33, Corrypt)

Angry Birds Transformers is out worldwide now, I suggest giving it a try since its awesome, F2P but really good.

Here is a preview by PocketGamer and AppSpy: http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPhone/Angry+Birds+Transformers/news.asp?c=62043

If you've been a fan of previous games of ours like Jetpack Joyride and Monster Dash, I think you'll get right into this one. It's available in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Singapore at the moment.

I've actually been super addicted to the version from work for weeks now, so glad this is out now. Grab it if you can!

Looks pretty cool, hopefully it pops up on the US store soon.

I am still hooked to Spider-Man Unlimited.

Matt-Frost, are you around? What did you think of that game?

Aside from all that IAP and the generic lane based running sections on roofs and else, I liked the boss battles and the parts where you were slinging the web around, and the game felt like Spiderman there but ultimately the thing that turned me off was double currency and timers. I have a list named "awesome games ruined by IAP design": Sonic Dash, Minion Rush, Crazy Taxi Rush, Iron Man 3, Spiderman Unlimited, Hordes of Heroes, Adventure Xpress, Super Monsters Ate My Condo, Angry Birds Transformers, Radical Rappelling, and so on. If you look to Dead Ahead, a game that had the same popularity and income of the games mentioned below (maybe a little less because a third of the profits goes to Chillingo), I can see a game can be fair and successful to both customers and the developers. It only has coins to buy. No gems. No diamonds. No energy. And I get a lot of coins in a play session. So I can feel confident to buy some IAP, because I know the game is fair. Whale Trail is another game like this but many didn't like the move it made. But in the end, only one currency, no buying revives with coins, no energy system, and that is what I wish these companies realize, that you dont need to add those obnoxious things in a game for the customer to pay, if a game is fair and plays well, it encourages me to invest on it. But with timers, double currency and so on, I dont feel as confident to buy something to give the developer back something for his work. I cant buy a coin doubler knowing that there is a gem doubler too, IAP to remove ads, the impossibility to remove timers completely -something that prevents me from playing it as much as I like without grinding, something that, without fun, ultimately makes it repetitive and a forgettable experience-, things are way to expensive and so on, knowing I would never be able to get a good user experience, and that's what I care about the most. And I would gladly pay to support that. There are people like me, then there is a lot of people who dont want to pay a cent at all, and then there is a lot of people that dont mind intensive grinding. And I am the minority, have to accept it. I have to admit that free to play adapts to a lot of playing styles, except mine.

PD: I was re-reading this to spellcheck and I didnt realize I wrote such a big wall of text, I just let myself go with this subject. I loose myself. xD

I'm not sure if this is the right topic for it, but has anyone played Baldur's Gate on Ipad recently? I have no idea how you successfully disarm a trap. Imoen finds it, but she will just walk into it and trigger it.

Where...is shadowrun dragonfall on ios?????

15 days remaining until end of month and not a single word from devs. I can't be bothered to register on their 1994 forum, it's absolutely hideous and hard to find relevant information.

Righteous rewards is a great phrase. I'll try it out.

So this seems like the best place to ask this. I'm thinking of getting an iPod Touch between now and the end of the year, mainly just to play games on. I don't really follow Apple devices or general iOS gaming at all, so would a 5th gen iPod Touch be sufficient for gaming, spec-wise, or should I wait for a new model to come out? Also, how heavily does Apple normally discount the previous model when a new one is released?

I have a fifth gen iPod touch. The games might not be as pretty, but I have yet to run into anything completely incompatible as far as games go.

I think usually Apple drops previous gen devices by like $100 when introducing a new one.

My new University Semester just started and I wanted to get a bit more into IOS gaming.

As I'm a huge fan of games like Disgaea/FF Tactics/Fire Emblem, I would like to know if there are any good games like those on IOS.

Thanks for the help in advance!

FF Tactics, Record of Agarest War, and some western ones like Banner Saga, Civ Rev, and Xcom EW.

Whoa... Banner Saga and I'm clearly late to the Shadowrun Returns party. My commute is saved!

Edit: and that RRH game looks slick as well. For 0.99 I'm biting.

Got myself a $15 iTunes gift card, and picked up Dragon Quest 1 & 2.

I really wish they'd patch the ugly scaling, but I can forgive them because AMAZING SOUNDTRACK.

I know DQ3 is out in Japan. What was the time delay between DQ1&2 JP and the English versions?

woah nba 2k15 actually looks pretty good visually. Like a ps2 generation sports game or better.

curious how well it runs though. I need my basketball games at 60fps.

I just tried Red Riding Hood and it plays like absolute garbage on my iPad (3rd Gen, iOS 8). It has a toggle in Settings of "Low for slower machines" and that did absolutely nothing so I don't know what the deal is, tbh. The frame rate chugs horribly and the touch controls' responsiveness lag to the point that any kind of platforming is futile.

I've never had a problem with games running poorly on my iPad before although I'm sure that I'll encounter more and more of them as the years go on, but RRH on the surface doesn't seem like it should be that demanding but there could be a ton going on under the hood that is causing the slowdown. It's a bummer because I like the presentation, but that's all I can really comment on since I haven't been able to see much else of the game.

So the next big thing has arrived for me. How this thing flew under the radar, I don't know, because it checks so many boxes and does so many things right. It's the ultimate addictive F2P game for me. This game, Faraway Kingdom, is basically a combination of Tiny Tower, Happy Street, Welcome to the Dungeon, and Puzzle & Dragons. You build your city sideways while also building down in dungeons and sending your heroes out on raids for loot. The heroes you collect are awesome, themed characters with loot that drops according to their type -Mage, Priest, or Warrior. For example, my Priest called Gabo, I've been collecting the Robin Hood set of gear for him and I'm a hat away from having a complete set. This game has all the compulsions of RPG gear collecting, Tiny Tower money earning, Puzzle and Dragons hero collecting and leveling, and just so many little touches that make it such a fantastic game for me. It looks daunting at first - I actually started it, played the first battle, then deleted it after I saw multiple currencies. The thread at TouchArcade convinced me that I should revisit it. Multiple currencies be damned, it's really generous with gems and I drew an Epic hero, Zack the Zombie Hunter, with my first pull with crystals. And it's fun to grind, as you get loot at a good rate. I'm constantly hoping I'll get that next piece of gear to outfit my Rare Priest to finish out his set. This game just hits so many chords for me. I can't stop playing.

If you think this sounds awesome, you can download it here:

Faraway Kingdom - Dragon Raiders by Smilegate West, Inc. and Dinocooler
https://appsto.re/us/kmq80.i

This game has a referral system, and if you would like to help us both out (you get 10 friendship coins which will get you a loot pull in the shop, I get 5 crystals), my referral code is: Flunkie44

Also add me as a friend with the same name, as I have an epic hero as my leader! (This goes a long way in raids, trust me)

The description really reminds me of the Kairosoft game, Dungeon Village. Only this seems more RPG focused than town building. I absolutely loved DV but I wanted a stronger emphasis on RPG than town building. Looks like someone made that happen.

Anyone else playing I Am Dolphin? It's pretty fun and innovative. Takes some time to get used to the controls, but when you do it's very satisfying to beat sharks.

It's more like Tiny Tower when it comes to town/dungeon building than how Dungeon Village works. Also- the raiding in Faraway Kingdom give it gameplay that actually feels like an RPG battle system, not just a sim-game. FK is completely awesome. Definitely try it if you liked Dungeon Village.

Hopefully there's a UK release soon. Or I could just change my store region I guess.

Anyone tried Sentinels of the Multiverse yet? Pocket Tactics has been praising the game since forever and it just came out.

My impressions will be shorter than expected. Nice visual style, story seems interesting, but the controls are just broken and incredibly unresponsive. Didn't progress very far due to the controls

You're talking about RRH, correct? Sad to hear that I wasn't an outlier then. Was the framerate incredibly slow for your as well? What were you playing it on?

Yeah, RRH. I'm on an iPhone 5. No frame rate issues yet, but there could be, I just haven't gotten very far due to the bad controls

Can't believe that Kairosoft keeps releasing games at $4.99. The number of reviews has slowed to a crawl but they haven't reverted to a more reasonable $2.99 or thereabouts price. 65 reviews for World Cruise Story which has been out for 7 months. Surely they'll eventually reverse course? I still enjoy all their games, but they're effectively the same thing every time. No one is going to pay an absurdly high, premium price with that regularity.
