This is such a stupid question, but it's driving me up a wall and I'm really hoping someone can help me out

The chord progression from Tina Turner's Simply The Best is extremely similar to another song that I can't QUITE place

It's the 4 notes heard here from 14s-18s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GC5E8ie2pdM&t=14s

EXCEPT! In the song I'm thinking of the 4th note goes back down instead of continuing to ascend like in Tina's song. Also I'm fairly certain it's a male singing with a deeper voice, my first thought was that it might be Pearl Jam but I skimmed through most of their songs I'm familiar with and came up short.

Please someone put me out of misery D:

Okay there's been a bit of a breakthrough! The chord progression I'm thinking of is basically straight out of Billy Jean , HOWEVER I'm not convinced this is the song I was thinking of as the singing is not in line at all with what I was imagining, and Billy Jean is just slightly too up-tempo as well. Maybe this new info can help someone steer me more in the right direction :)

Hey guys, I need that Jack Nicholson gif where he's emphatically nodding his head yes. Someone please post it.

Is the term "tramp stamp" (used in a sentence to reference said tattoos) sexist?

Not per se, no. A tramp is a person without a home who does not live in one city or town, but moves from place to place. A drifter would be a similar word for it. A tramp as a reference to someone's sexual behavior means that they often move from bed to bed, and this is not a distinctly feminine behavior. Since the latter is what the tramp in tramp stamp means, it is not sexist as it can apply to anyone, not just a woman.

Anyone tried Redwood Creek Cabinet Sauvignon? I appreciate it's like only $5, but it tastes like it was bottled a week after the grapes were pressed. How about the California winery's Merlot? The cab is growing on me a little bit, but it would have to be half that price for me to consider it again. I had been regularly buying Aconga (2013), an Argentinian Merlot mix for $3.99, which is a bit rough, but at least it tastes like wine. I know, for those prices, what do I expect (Aconga was supposedly marked down by Kroger from $9.99)...

I was watching Life of Pi a couple weeks ago, and got to wondering what causes
the ship to sink. Obviously it was a pretty huge storm they were in, but a lot of people online seem to think that Pi leaving a watertight door open when he went out to watch the storm could have been a critical factor letting enough water in to sink the ship. Would one such door being left open in a typhoon really be sufficient to sink a ship that would have otherwise weathered the storm just fine?

I guess a dude could be a tramp. I don't know it's ever been used for a guy, though. When in doubt use the other term, translated from the original German, "Ass antlers".

Thanks for the response guys, I do understand the full meaning of the word "Tramp" don't get me wrong guys... I'm more focusing on the "tramp stamp" on women, specifically.

saying things like..."I saw a chick (a woman) today and she had a "front" tramp stamp, rather than the more common, back one, it was kinda crazy"

Or...

"I hate women with tramp stamps, 98% of the time it looks so trashy ."

Does any of the above sound sexist or derogatory towards women?

This is Lance Hoyt. Everyone that I know who's seen this tattoo calls it a tramp stamp, and derogatory things are said about him whenever it is brought up. So no, it's not just a female phenomenon.

My girlfriend's laptop doesn't seem to have any built-in scrolling software for the touchpad, beyond moving the cursor. Can such a software be downloaded and installed regardless of manufacturer etc? If so, what's a good program for doing so? :)

You know when you chew minty gum and then drink water it really hurts, why is that?

http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/fn35i/why_does_drinking_cold_water_after_chewing_minty/

The "active" ingredient in mint is menthol. This gives you a refreshing cooling sensation because it chemically activates the cold receptor TRPM8 on your sensory neurons (horseradish/wasabi also activates these receptors, btw). When you subsequently drink cold water you are physically stimulating the same receptors and potentiating the cold signal being sent from those neurons to your brain.

I use my tablet to surf the websites but the problem is some websites have mobile version and they force me to use the mobile version
is there any way to avoid mobile version on tablets?

I'm looking for the name of a book or series of children's books that I read when I was younger.
I was probably 7 or 8, so probably looking at books published around or before 1980. They were set in New York City and involved boy who had a friend who was a Spaceman or Astronaut, probably with one of those words in the title of the first book.
I've tried looking, but my Google skills obviously aren't up to the job.

How do you create a poll on here? I tried googling it and it said to check a certain box at the bottom of the create a topic page. I looked and looked and found no such box.

Why do americans put the dollar sign before the amount ($15) but pronounce it "15 dollars"? Shouldn't it be "dollar 15"?

If someone tells you it's to prevent fraud, that's not true. It's just as easy to add a number to the front of 20$ as it is to add a number at the end of $20.

I think it's actually standard in British English too, but you would write all currencies, even those that technically come from countries where the currency symbol comes after the amount, with the currency symbol first. The inverse also holds: countries where you place the currency symbol after the amount would write dollar amounts with the symbol after the amount.

Oh, ok. Thanks!

What shirt is Charles the dog wearing in the Da Funk (Daft Punk) music video? I'm putting together a costume for my boyfriend and need to know!

Thanks!

Is there a thread for fixing things, like 'around the house' do it yourself advice thread? I had a furnace issue where there's water dripping from a part of it, and I was wondering if there was a specific thread for that kind of thing. I do have a professional coming, but it won't be for a few days.
