Halo MCC: the 8 maps you probably never played IGN First

LMAO! As someone who played Halo CE on PC a LOT, most of those maps are pretty much the only thing I remember from Halo CE multiplayer xD

Funny how different the experience was for us compare to the Xbox owners.

Were the H1 and H2 PC maps developed by Bungie, or just whatever team was responsible for the ports?

I believe it was Gearbox as they did quite a bit to the game other than just port it over, but I could be wrong. Either way, I remember and miss these maps, so it will be awesome getting to play BTB on them again.

Yeah, as someone who only played on Xbox, I'm sure Halo: CE 8v8 conjures different memories for each of us. Most notably that it involved getting 4 Xboxes, 4 TVs, and 16 people in the same place instead of a server list. I'm really looking forward to experiencing full-screen 16-player Halo CE online for the first time.

Has 343 confirmed 4-player local multiplayer for every Halo in the collection? I really want to play this thing with friends over, especially on every map I didn't get to play.

Or you were a real pro and ran that Xbox Tunnel program to play online.

That was my life for like 2 years.

And here I was thinking it would refer to the Halo 4 maps.

If you could do it in the original, you can do it in the collection. AFAIK every Halo game had 4 player split screen for local multiplayer, so you should be in good shape.

I must not be a real pro because I don't even know what that means.

Timberland is one of my all time favorite Halo maps. Glad to see its finally going to get its due. I also liked an icy forest PC map - not sure if that was a fan made one though.

Footage looks good.

So true lol

You played on XBC, GameSpy Arcade, X-Link? If so, name?

IGN is doing an excellent job with the coverage.

On an unrelated note, will we see more about the Halo 5 beta right after Halo MCC releases.

I think it's a safe bet. Hell, I almost expect something before it releases or at the VERY least, the week or two after.

Oh wow, didn't even know these were PC only, some of my fav maps were apparently PC only. Death Island, Gephy and Infinty were great. Seems like a lot of the good vehicle maps were PC only.

If you were a real pro you got your warthog through the tunnels in Danger Canyon. Or hid in the bases on Death Island with camouflage and shotgun.

Simply because Halo 1 for the Xbox had no online, they knew the maps would be unused for the most part (Infinity with 4 players? No thanks) since only those with more than one Xbox in the room could take advantage of them.

I'm excited to see people's reactions to Halo CE's online because it was honestly my favorite experience out of all the Halo MP's.

I guess they're all big maps because they assumed Halo 1 would be played by 16 players on PC. Since there was no XBL for Halo 1, it makes sense that they shipped more small maps than big, since LAN Parties weren't something they were expecting much of.
