NoA PR:
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS launched on Oct. 3 in the U.S., and even with only two days of data included in NPD’s September report, the game still managed to finish as the No. 4 best-selling software SKU for the month with more than 705,000 total units sold. Of that total, more than 135,000 units were sold digitally through the Nintendo eShop. The game’s biggest impact however may be on hardware sales. More than 140,000 units of the Nintendo 3DS family of systems were sold in September, an increase of 55 percent over sales in August.

Sales of Wii U hardware also saw double-digit increases in September, increasing by nearly 50 percent over sales in August. These gains were driven in particular by two software titles: Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart 8. Hyrule Warriors launched on Sept. 26 and has already sold more than 190,000 combined units in the U.S. alone. Mario Kart 8 sold nearly 60,000 combined units in its fifth month on the market, bringing its lifetime total in the U.S. to nearly 1.2 million total units.

A great lineup of games for Wii U begins on Oct. 26 with Bayonetta 2, the Wii U exclusive that currently holds a 91 score on Metacritic. That continues with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U on Nov. 21 and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker on Dec. 5. Also launching on Nov. 21 is amiibo, Nintendo’s foray into the toys-to-life category. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be the first game to launch with amiibo integration. Other games that will support amiibo include Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10 and Yoshi’s Woolly World, with more to come. More details about compatibility and functionality of amiibo may be found at http://amiibo.com.

The Nintendo 3DS library will soon be bolstered by two of the most anticipated games of 2014: Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire (Nov. 21).

Any data comparing to other large 1st party nintendo titles and hardware sales?
Wonder what we'll see with the WiiU version in terms of increase.

The Hyrule Warriors number is the most surprising to me. I wonder where that falls against the Dynasty Warriors series on other platforms.

That's incredible, also never thought HW would sell close to 200k in September, thought closer to 120k or something

Good for Hyrule Warriors, I was afraid it might bomb.

Hopefully some momentum combined with deepening revenue streams with DLC, and Amiibo should help Nintendo's financials this year.

Nearly 20% digital adoption for Smash 3DS. Not bad.

Sales of Wii U hardware also saw double-digit increases in September, increasing by nearly 50 percent over sales in August.
Are they trying to tell us Wii U sales increased by 10-99 units, nearly a 50% increase on August?

Sorry I couldn't resist. If you read that paragraph outside of the previous one it reads like that.

Wow, I didn't expect Smash to move that many 3DS's...Holy shit!

Sounds like this was a surprisingly decent month for Nintendo, though I'm sure the 55% increase for Wii U's is still barely cracking 100K...oh well.

like i posted in other thread

according to nintendo pr digital sales is included in npd sales ?

Almost 200k in the U.S. alone? Pretty good for Hyrule Warriors! Here's hoping positive word of mouth and the holidays near can lead to this title having legs. It deserves them, damnit!

Excellent numbers for Smash! It was expected :) The big surprise here is Hyrule Warriors! Soooooo happy to see it did well in sales. Fingers crossed that Bayo2 can do better.

That's damn good for 2 days.

Hyrule Warriors, though.... good for a Wii U game, I guess?
Good for a Wii U game in the US only, yeah. 190k for the last 4 days of September (or is it until now?).

Worldwide with Japan it's probably at 300k right now and will hit 500k worldwide lifetime. That's around dynasty warriors numbers isn't it?

I think HW had 8 days of sales for the NPD report. Smash had 2 days and was released on Oct. 3.

...Wait a moment, NoA's PR is wrong concerning Bayo2's release date, no? It says it will be released on the 26th, when it's actually two days before.

Hurdle Warriors did a lot better than I expected. How many Wii Us sold last month?

IIRC, the number for last month was ~59k, so the increase would put September's totals at ~90k. Basically flat from last September, where the only retail release Nintendo had for the console was Wonderful 101, and we all know how well that one did.

That was also the month of the price drop, as well.

Damn at Smash. I'm getting HW as soon as a B2G1 deal emerges. I'd love to get Smash but with the Wii U version really close I just can't see much necessity.

serious question, why is 190k actually "impressive" for Hyrule Warriors? seems low, especially compared to big name titles out there.

Allthough those smash 3ds nunbers are nice, only a 55% increase in hardware numbers is quite dissapointing tbh when we approach the holidy season (september generally sees more sales overall as opposed to August). Then again, smash was only released at the end of the month, the last two days of the npd so we may see its full effect next month.
