Switch 2 sells 3.5 million in 4 days

Against my better judgement I picked one up yesterday. First thoughts are the old one is a better size for handheld gaming but I did get one only because I only play docked so I can even get over the poor lcd screen. The battery is horrible and you can watch it drop just sitting there.

I will not be buying any 3rd party games as I have a ps5 pro so why would I do that and only buying Nintendo games when they go on the rare sale.

Those who draw comparisons are doing dissonance. It all comes down more to available stocks. PS5 at launch was pretty limited and remain a huge demand item for a year feeding scalpers.
Who knows how M$ and Sony would have performed if they had 3.5 Millions units available at launch.

The same people who are complaining and crying about $80 Mario Kart World will gladly pay the same amount for Astro Bot Racing that carbon copies everything from Mario Kart and wins Game of the Year with it, I guarantee it.
Talk about misnomers, Astro bot isn't 80 nor is it a "carbon copy" of anything lol. Stop trying to justify Nintendo popping off a 80 dollar game that is at best 50 since they are renamed versions of 8 year games lol.

Astro bot didn't even launch as a 70 dollar game. It was a discount title. See how you have to invent hypotheticals to make Sony as greedy as Nintedo is actually being. See also how astro's playroom came free w/ every ps5.

In what universe is MK World – the only $80 game so far – a renamed version of anything

I said Astro Bot Racing, and yeah ASTROBOT is a carbon copy of Mario 3D games, you happily paid $70 for a 7 hour carbon copy of a gameplay mechanics that Nintendo had in 2002 and I never justified the $80 price tag of Mario Kart World.

You asked to the wrong people on the internet.
If it was me, I would have told you upfront that when it comes to Nintendo mediocrity is always rewarded with an obscene amount of money.
Like you said your own subjective opinion so no merit to it whatsoever. Just another salty take after a great console launch.

What the hell is an 8 year game? I mean, strictly speaking, a game that lasts 8 years has to be worth 80$ right?

That's pennies a month!

So DF have pushed back their Switch 2 review until middle of next week lol

Guess they're struggling with getting the wording on certain things like the screen, lack of docked VRR etc as diplomatic as possible. 🙂

For years we've been told that developing games for weaker hardware is bad for gaming with the Xbox series S being the scapegoat, so we really better hope no 3rd party wants to do that for the Switch 2
Publishers only care about sales potential, they really don't give a shit of console's power, they tend to up the technological improvements in order to differentiate themselves from AA and indies which has worked well up until last gen, right I don't see that working anymore due to diminishing return, anyone not in Switch 2 will leave a shitload of money on the table

If that little text under your avatar is of hint, i better buy more nintendo stock asap.
I don't know if you have two eyes but Sony hasn't been doing well lately. They keep having flop after flop of GaaS games and have offered very little Software to support their very own platform. Compare Sony first party releases on PS5 with every other Sony platform. It's laughable how little Sony has done to support their very own platform. They even do things like releasing the PS VR and barely support it. Sony has been anti consumer and sooner or later people are going to have enough. We are only half way though my prediction but Ray Charles can see the arrow is pointing down in Sony Stock.

Oh I definitely have two eyes - Sony's stock is at an all-time high.
And also according to their financials, they are doing better than ever indeed.

I even agree about VR and First party output - but this is not what the discussion is about. 2022 was 3 years ago bro, imagine if you were to really bet on what you thought back then with options.

Sony is performing really well though. They are generating a lot of revenue and PS5 is likely to be their most profitable generation ever.
