2014 Fantasy Football Advice Thread

My dynasty league trading is heating up. Peyton was traded for Lamar Miller (the guy has Luck as his backup). So I missed out, but now people are coming for Thomas.

Which trade option do you like better:

Julius Thomas for Alfred Morris

or

Thomas for Stafford and Hyde.

Either way, my backup TE would be Cameron. I'd prefer the deal with Hyde as I like Morris but his production this year hasn't been great.


****Also is Lacy for Thomas an awful dynasty league trade?****I know Lacy isn't producing now, but I still have faith.

I'd keep Thomas.


Would folks start Carson Palmer or Drew Brees this weekend?
 
I didn't start Decker considering he's on Revis Island, he still appears to be getting a lot of looks and I'm afraid he's gonna score again.

Vereen is the only RB with a defined role (passing back), he's the easy one to start.

Revis isn't the same Revis, he's been burned alot. However that involves trusting Geno so I get why you benched Decker.

Thanks for the input. I can tend to get drawn into the trading hype, simply for the sake of trading.

Brees always. The AZ could be a run fest potentially, but I'd never bet against Brees if we're comparing him to Palmer.
 
Just pulled another trade off here in the dynasty league..Standard scoring basically..bonus for 300 yard passing and 100 yard running/receiving games.


I sent Percy Harvin and Larry Donnell (my starting TE is Julius Thomas)

Oof. AP I'm assuming, hopefully for you Antone Smith continues to put up some numbers.

Also, I see a few people you can drop there, and maybe you can consider starting Floyd over Hester this week, but mostly see who you can get in the RB department.

Revis isn't the same Revis, he's been burned alot. However that involves trusting Geno so I get why you benched Decker.

Yeah, I feel Decker would be so much more reliable if Geno could get it together.

Well no team is beyond saving, but time isn't on your side and going 7-0 at this point is unlikely, so you won't make the playoffs..But glaring problems I see.

-Defense...No one should be starting Carolina at this point.
-Kicker-There has to be a better option than Suisham..If not, it's not a big deal, but I think there could be.
-Devin Hester and Helu should not be starting on anyone's team..Pretty much ever. James Jones would be a better WR than Hester.


The rest is fine. But it's probably too late..But with a few changes, you play the spoiler. I wouldn't bother trading as it's not worth it to you.

I am. I love trading. I usually do okay, but sometimes I screw up. I'd love a trading fantasy league..You score points, based on creating good trades.

But what do you think of the Harvin/Donnell for Edelman deal?

I had to get off the Donnell stock as it was falling pretty hard. I'm glad he's out of my hands before there's nothing left.

I think it's a pretty good deal. Harvin has kinda sucked, The SeaChickens are just not big on the passing game. They ride lynch for better or worse.

I do think you over paid in our league with the rivers deal.

Forte and Tate. Absolutely no question. Basically as long as they're healthy Forte and Tate will always be the answer. Forte should never sniff the bench under any circumstance.
 
For fellow Fantasy Focus and Football Today listeners - looks like Pod Vader is no more, he's leaving ESPN. He could be annoying at times but he was one of the guys. I'll miss the cut of his jib.
 
Is there something I'm missing with why James Jones' ESPN projections are so much higher than Cobb and Jeffery? Trying to decide if I play Jone' or Fred Jackson at flex this week and noticed he's my highest projected WR by a margin. Jeffery only 7.6? Dafuq?

Frank Gore
Bishop Sankey
Jerick McKinnon

...am I crazy for benching Gore and playing Sankey instead this week?

Yeah, I'd go Gore. This year he's tough to predict, but Sankey more and more is looking like a bust. He's getting opportunities and is doing nothing with them. McKinnon is interesting but not worth the risk at this moment.

I think Gore at least has a chance of a sneaky TD, maybe more..

Yeah, I was saying all year before I got Percy, "when has a Seattle WR ever been fantasy relevant?" Doesn't look like this year will change that.

I agree that technically I overpaid in our league with Alshon and Rivers deal, but in this case it was really exchanging Andre Johnson for Alshon in my starting lineup..That's a great move. Rivers was expendable due to having Rodgers, so yeah, I made another team better, but I also feel I made my lineup better.

well i mean i can play two of them and i was gonna try out Sankey and McKinnon because Gore is getting fewer touches and he lost me the game last week and first place so i'm not exactly happy with him anyways. 3 fucking points. dammit Frank. but yeah you're probably right, i'll most likely bench McKinnon and play Gore instead.
 
Wow. ANOTHER dynasty league trade I did and this is one I've wanted for awhile. Got Jimmy Graham.

I sent: Julius Thomas, Desean Jackson, and Ryan Mathews for Jimmy Graham. I'm pumped.

My starting lineup is now:

Brees
Michael Floyd
Julian Edelman
Gio Bernard
Andre Ellington
Jimmy Graham
Ahmad Bradshaw
McManus
Baltimore

I depleted my bench, but nearly all my important bye weeks are done..I'm 2-4 and had to do something. Either way, we keep 7 in this league, I like the 6 I see and will find another before the end of the year. If Antone Smith takes off, he's on my bench already.
 
Yo. I currently have Stafford and Palmer at QB. Foles (who is on bye) is available to pick up. I'm not super comfortable with my QBs the rest of the season. Would you pick up Foles for one of these guys? I could drop Palmer and tough it out with another week of Calvin-less Stafford.

I guess I should mention I'm in first place (6-0) and the guy in 5th fighting for the last playoff spot is 3-3.
 
So, Harvin to the Jets apparently. Value will probably go up, right? What should this mean for Eric Decker?(annoyed because I almost traded him and his value might take a hit, and was pretty eager in starting him in the upcoming weeks)
Anyone on Seattle get an increase in value?

That is the crappy part of it. I never look at who I'm playing when I do a trade.

The Graham trade i just did today, I play against that team next week, but he's 0-6 now, probably 0-7 next week, I'm going to assume he benches his good players to completely tank to get Gurley next year....But then again, there's a reason bad teams stay bad. He might go balls to the wall against me and screw up his draft pick chances over a meaningless game for him....

If you have Foles and would be giving away AJ Green and Ingram, I don't like that.

Basically the side getting AJ Green wins, unless the starting QB is someone much worse than Foles, imo, like say Eli, Stafford...even then I'm not sure I like it..AJ is a beast.

Also, why is Cecil Shorts even included in this deal? He's the definition of a meaningless piece.
 
Do I start Matthew Stafford against New Orleans without Megatron (projected 23 points)

OR

Do I start Cam Newton against Green Bay (projected 15 points)

PPR leage. Stafford has been trash since Megatron's injury and Newton's been playing much better of late, but don't like either matchup.
 
So is Jermaine Kearse the guy to grab on Seattle as a speculative add for this Harvin trade or is it Paul Richardson? Doug Baldwin is already gone. Not that Seattle WR's are going to do anything but I have a bench spot I can stash someone for potential.

Yeah, I dunno. Seattle receiving really hasn't done much, but Baldwin, Kearse, and Richardson are all available in my league. There's no one I really wanna drop so I probably won't make a move on 'em
yet, but I'm still interested on how well they're supposed to do.
 
I was reviewing all the trades I've done in my dynasty league (past 2 years) and they've been pretty good for the most part. I think I get enjoyment out of turning nothing into something. In the last two years, imo, I've one had one bad trade. I did the following over the last two years (other players were included some times but in the end this what they ended up being)

-Aaron Rodgers for Drew Brees...this one sucked for a keeper league, but it was my first one..Remember these weren't straight up trades, just at the end of the year who I ended up having as a result).

-Patterson for Julian Edelman...Good.

-V-Jax and Andre Williams for Gio Bernard...great

-J. Thomas and Lacy for Jimmy Graham and A. Ellington..working out well..
 
Thinking about starting Romo this week (Giants) over Brees (Lions). What do you guys think? Detroit's D is good. They give the fewest points in the league.

I was thinking this too but then I thought, maybe with Harvin there it'll take some focus off of Decker and open him up for bigger plays?

Start Cam Newton (at GB) or Russell Wilson (at StL)? Currently have Wilson starting but they both have the chance to go off again.

Pick two: Andre Johnson (at Pit), Mike Wallace (at Chi), Torrey Smith (vs Atl). Jordy Nelson is my WR1 thank god.

I'd pick up Foles and drop Palmer. Foles is piloting a much better offense and is not an injury risk.

Colston has a chance to make some noise with Graham out but I can't really trust him until he shows me something this year. Go with Crabtree.

Assuming Benjamin plays, I think Cam against a soft GB def is the play.

Johnson and Smith for your WRs.

Cam Newton definitely. I wouldn't think twice about Wilson pretty much ever.

Johnson and Wallace..While I think Torrey could have a decent game, I feel Wallace is safer even if they both crap out.
 
I'm first in the waiver wire for tomorrow. I need another RB. Top two available are Chris Ivory and Darren Sproles. I'm in a ppr league. Which one would you take?
