His rumours are so fucking vague he can claim anything.

That may be right. But in this case he was the first one to even mention those exclusive titles - he said specifically 2 Exclusive Games (1 First Party / 1 Third Party)

So if this exact scenario turns out to be true he should get the credit - i dont think you can just guess something like this

I hope that "stuff they shouldn't show off yet" isn't referring to cg announcement trailers of games not coming until late 2016/2017.

They haven't shown any CG for game yet, so I wouldn't expect them to suddenly start doing that. The initial announcement said that it's to showcase what to expect in 2015. So I think Rohde may have just been confirming that we'll be seeing completely new games without actually coming out and saying that specifically. Since obviously that wording wouldn't apply to games that we already know about.

Right now all of Sony's 2015 retail titles are scheduled to release early in the year with the exception of Uncharted 4,Until Dawn, and Tearaway. And many of their studios haven't shown off anything yet. So they've got plenty of space to fill in that lineup.

What was Until Dawn supposed to be about again?

It's basically a videogame version of a teen slasher. There are eight characters and everyone can die or everyone can live. It's heavily based on your decision making like in Heavy Rain. In other words, it should be pretty damn awesome if they actually pull it off.

Edit: It's also using the KZ: Shadow Fall engine.

Scott Rhode's (and Adam Boyes) comments make me think that new games will definetly be announced.
Hopefully this event will be a nice Christmas gift for all Playstation fans =)

Which sounds rather good if pulled off right or complete shit if they mess it up, like no where in the middle. Would be cool though.

Edit: hope I can go against horror movie tropes. I want the black guy to survive and the horny teens as well but let the virgin die.

Ohh that was the game that was shown at Gamescom right? I totally Forgot.

I am pretty sure they'll announcethe new IP from Guerilla Games
They said they want to show games that weren't ready to show them
I am pretty excited

Then don't. One of the worst things you can do in this industry is prematurely unveil a game. Few things grind my gears more than seeing a trailer for something, only for it to disappear off the face of the Earth for months/years after.

What was the point in showing that teaser of Gravity Rush 2 at last year's TGS again? It's like having your balls tickled by a feather for an eternity.

LOL

I definitely agree with this; I hate it when games are revealed really far in advance. Resident Evil 6 (reveal Feb, release Nov) and Bloodborne (reveal June, release Feb) are two big games which have done it right, while Tomb Raider (revealed December 2010, released March 2013) and BioShock Infinite (revealed August 2010, released March 2013) are quite the opposite.

GOW4 will def be shown at E3 2015, if not sooner.

please :(

Don't expect it. Cory has already suggested it's unlikely, and he's only been back at SSM since August 2013. If we assume most of SSM was tied up on Stig's sci-fi game until its cancellation earlier this year (February, I think?), then by next E3 Cory's game won't even have had the opportunity for 18 months of development.

Until Dawn gameplay maybe. I always forget that game exists at all. Whatever Giant Sparrow has been working on?

We're probably due to find out what Giant Sparrow's next game will be soon. The Unfinished Swan was late 2012, so I would expect their next game is due to release by late 2015? I hope it's as good as TUS.

I was under the impression, and I may very well be wrong, that Santa Monica Studios had 3 dev teams including Corys and Stigs. Now that Stig is gone there are now two teams, working on two different games.

However maybe that second team is the one that works with all the smaller 1st and 2nd party dev teams such as That Game Company etc.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong. Before the layoffs in Feb/March there were around 210-220 people working there, and I think redundancies were about 40 people. God of War Ascension had a development team of about 180, suggesting that Stig was working with a small team on pre-production for his sci-fi game.

Fair enough! Can't remember where I heard that before, think it may have been on of those "Sony's 1st party studios" threads.

SSM is always confused to be bigger than they are due to their external production support /team.

In terms of studios big enough to have wholly separate dev teams working on retail shipping products, it's probably only Japan Studio for Sony. London has separate teams too, but that is more from the fact that stuff like Singstar don't need big teams.

I believe London Studio is their biggest development team out of the whole WWS. I don't know where I heard that, but I'll try to find a link.

EDIT - never mind, I'm wrong. On the WWS website it says "over 300" work at London Studio and "over 400" at Japan Studio.

why is this being HYPED up? is this not a normal event that Sony does every year?

is this on par with the last year's Playstation meeting?

For me it's Share 2.0 and DLNA 2.0 and what they imply. I suspect for Sony it's really big witness the name for Share 2.0 - Masamune - Legendary Japanese Sword maker

Sony patents October 16th

AUTOMATIC DISCOVERY AND MIRRORING OF SERVER-CLIENT REMOTE USER INTERFACE (RUI) SESSION ON A COMPANION DEVICE AND SYNCHRONOUSLY CONTROLLING BOTH SESSIONS USING RUI ON COMPANION DEVICE

Second screen support for DLNA CVP2. What's new is the diagram has support for Cable, ATSC 2.0 (OTA) and Satellite.

MOBILE PHONE GAME INTERFACE
Systems, apparatus and methods for enabling a mobile station to control a virtual world being executed on a console system are described.

Second screen support for a virtual world game

Both of the above make Sony Tablets and Phones more valuable being used with the PS4 and Sony 2015 Smart TVs (Android L with TV support)

While I agree with most of what you wrote Sony have showed non in-engine trailers, both Shadow of the Beast and Bloodborne wasn't in-engine I believe (though in Bloodborne's case it wasn't a sign of showing it off to early thankfully).

No its not an annual event.

PS Meeting happens only when new generation of hardware is announced.

I thought so... seeing this thread enter 30 pages gave me pause to wonder

Sony like to patent things, at this stage its a hobby for them

Because I get hyped for everything!

typical gaffer right here, I suppose your avatar on that absurd 'hype train' :P

Its time for Uncharted 4 gameplay footage.
A year ahead of release is the usual time for Naughty Dog to release gameplay footage.
VGA/X are shit now, E3 and Gamescom 2015 are too late.
Playstation Experience it is.

Yes they patent everything but DON'T publish patents unless they plan to use it or to warn someone else off of an area they have patented. Publishing October 16 th means features are coming soon that are described in those patents. Soon for Sony is very vague.

idk. I feel like if we were to believe the things Jeff feels/says are coming (back earlier in the year especially) that my ps4 would be shooting lasers out of the disc drive by now.

a lot of words but I don't see anything concrete. ever. feel like if DLNA was coming in 2.0 or a month or two following it, then it would've been said by now.

I could be wrong though :)

I'm pretty hyped myself, though I go in with low expectations of anything unannounced.

Just give me more info on Rime, Ratchet, Uncharted 4, Wild, Tearaway, Order, etc, and I'll be more than happy.

I can't help but get a bit hyped for this, but these things are almost always disappointing. At what I think is a realistic bare minimum, hopefully we'll see a lot more gameplay footage of games we know about, like Rime, Rapture, Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, Soma, Axiom Verge, etc. If we get new reveals on top of that it's all gravy.

Having low expectations means all... most events will be good for me. =)

But of course, there are times when publishers break even your lowest expectations... EA's presser for E3 2014 was simply stellar in that regard.

Vita will support DLNA with the next firmware update and in Slides shown in Mexico DLNA was supposed to be coming when Vita was released so VITA DLNA has had a longer "soon" than the PS4.

Remember DLNA 2.0 was just finalized a few months ago and certification for DLNA 2.0 happens after September 2014. This is why XB1 DLNA is coming this month.

Sony is stressing games with Share 2.0 and there is no DLNA 2.0 (DLNA CVP2) ecosystem at this time but it starts very soon with a FCC mandate for June 2015. Till the chicken and egg issues creating the ecosystem are satisfied, Sony will use Share 2.0 and DLNA 2.0 between Sony platforms.

DLNA support for the PS4 is not like DLNA for Vita. As a Media Hub it will likely support the same file (container types) and codecs that the XB1 supports and they both use Xtensa (IVP & HiFi) DPUs to do so. XB1 supports Apples MOV and likely the PS4 will also and Play or transcode for other plarforms. The PS3 can't do that and likely the Vita either. With MOV support Apple owners will likely want a XB1 or PS4 in their living rooms.

If they loved me, they'd bring back socom. But they don't love me :(. But seriously they've gotta have an online shooter of some sort eventually right ?

Remember, mfers never loved us! Remember?!

confrontation 2! Sony has all those assets from slant 6, use it! Go to the Socom forums and use the feed backs from there and learn from the abomination that was Socom 4!

at least HHour is coming (hoping for a map editor)

How come I only saw this now!
Get fuckin hyped!!
All I want is what Bend's studio is doing I mean how many years these guys been in full production?

While I'm not gonna get myself hyped, I think there's a chance we'll see some real crazy stuff here since it's a 20 years of playstation celebration. PS1 IPs returning, perhaps? There will be something announced specifically to celebrate the big 2-0 for the brand. Unrealistically specific possibilities:

Parappa by an indie dev
MediEvil/Twisted Metal/old Sony RPG by a mid tier dev with ExDev/SSM/Japan Studio support
Jumping Flash! as a flaghsip Morpheus title, or at least a tech demo
Bang Wombat returns

Maybe a first look at a Morpheus game from a big-name developer?

If they want that thing to be successful from the start, it needs a big, impressive game to launch with it.

Really hope that either PS1/PS2 games are finally playable again, or the rumored emulator will be availabe for the PS4.

This is my most sought after update. Those rumors from Eurogamer and elsewhere have had me anticipating every bit of news, but still not a word about it from Sony.
