Legend of Korra |OT| Bending the Rules of Nature

I don't even really think it's that - even for a $15 game, it's pretty content-light.

I do think the IGN review, at very least, didn't know how to use the battle system. Complaining about only having two attack buttons was missing the point by a mile.

Yea IGN review is weird, he complains about the parry system also
"Once I’d gotten the hang of its annoyingly short counter timing windows"

I assume he would of also hated MGR on anything other then easy

Excited to get home and play this once it goes up on the Xbox store. Reviews in general no longer do much for me,I find them interesting and prefer to visit them after I have completed a title so that I can compare my criticisms with that of "professionals".

PS4 is definitely 1080p and 60fps. Looks very smooth, though it doesn't really look like it's a graphically demanding game.

Yeah, when I saw the 2.9G size, I just decided to pre-load on XBO, since I figured it'd be the same as PS4. I think for $15, the graphics are serviceable (I'd kill for a AAA Korra game). I'm in love with the animated cutscenes though.

Would be nice if Sony / PSN would get their shit together regarding preloads for EU / AU. 8 hours and 20 minutes before it's up for me. I really need to sleep.

that's right. Straight from the producer's mouth/tweet.

And I just regurgitated from one of the earlier, pre-OT threads. So kudos to someone.

The timing windows aren't short. I think they're excessively large for this kind of game.

The most important question is "Will this dry my salty tears at not having a Wii U, this being the week of Bayo 2's release?"

No, bayonetta 2 is going to blow this out of the water, assuredly. At least, based on impressions so far.

This might scratch a bit of the Platinum itch if you're willing to really invest in the battle system.

Both IGN's and Gamespot's review spent too much time on the game's story, you can't expect it to reach show level with that kind of budget.

The only valid criticism I saw was boss fight and temple Naga run.

But value is the ultimate in subjective criticism. While $15 may not be a lot to you, maybe someone else thinks that's a lot to spend on a game. Should the review then state that it would be a better deal if you picked it up in a sale? Value is completely different to every single person so you can never be all things to all people. It should be taken out of the review entirely and the game should be judged on it's merits alone. A bad game is a bad game, regardless of value.

This so hard. Eventually, those $60 games will be $15. Should my review of the game then change? What if I bought it at release for a discount, like how I got Dark Souls 2 for $40?

Judging game off of value is just dumb. (though so is taking points off the review of a short game just because it's short)
There's more to it than just how it costs, though. It's a $15 licensed game published by Activision. With how they handle licensed games, it's no surprise about some of the things.

dat title, hahaha

As they were in MGR, and people still thought it was really hard.

I always feel like I'm missing something when they say stuff like "Extreme difficulty will be as hard as Platinum fans expect it to!", so, no hard at all unless you're not familiar with the genre?

Step it up, Platinum, I want some challenge.

The animated scenes aren't done by the regular animation company from the TV show, Studio Mir. They're done by another company called Titmouse, so that's why it looks different.

Super bummed out about the initial reviews, but I'm not gonna read them beyond the score, Like most games I want to play it a fair bit myself to form my own thoughts without them being coloured by other opinions.

Also super bummed, all of my consoles are in another city so I can't play this for another week .__.

A shame about the early reviews, but as with anything, I'm better off trying it myself and doubly so with a Platinum game.

Won't be playing it until I catch up with the show. And after Bayonetta 2.

People would best know Titmouse as the company that animated Megas XLR, Metalocalypse, Afro Samurai, Black Dynamite, and they also animated the intro for Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Playing Bayonetta 1 then 2 will be a joyous occasion. I freaking can't wait. The demo was glorious.

This Korra game does not look good at all

THE GOOD
Bending looks cool
Pro-bending matches are reasonably fun
THE BAD
Throwaway story fails the source material in every way
Repetitive boss fights
Lots of careless details sully the combat encounters
Uninspired runner segments
3
BAD

I came here .gifs and videos, but I'm leaving disappointed. Has there been any pre release hype for this game? I've watched the whole series with my kid and have just heard of this game now.

2 questions

Are there leaderboards?

Is there a bloody castle like thing where its just you, an arena and a shit ton of enemies to bend?

Bonus question

how's the music?

don't mind a $15 appetizer when the $60 full course meal is so close

can't wait when the game unlocks tomorrow on XBL.

Gaffers (in the Korra Xbox thread), who have actually played it, think its a fun budget title with decent combat but are aware of the shortcomings.
