Price doesn't factor into it. A bad/good game is bad/good irrelevant of the price.
Some of these complaints are about stuff that budget and development time are extremely relevant to.

Salty bitches shoulda bought a Wii U
Yeah, get a Wii U and Bayonetta 2. This game will be finished by the end of the day for most people. This is just the appetizer!
Not me, don't like these kind of games. Just curious if it would end the whining for a port ha.
(Plus I think Korra and avatar are much more interesting than Bayometta and the witches/angels).
That title is perfect. Good job.
Also, wow those scores. I can't say I'm too surprised since it's a character action game, but still.
Gonna re-iterate what I said in the Korra pre-load thread and say that I think this game is fantastic. As a huge fan of the show and Platinum I couldn't be any happier with what I got for $15. Like most Platinum games there is an unexplained depth to the combat with learning how to charge your Chi mid-combo and the benefits of doing so that, once you learn is very satisfying.
Also I don't think they ever explain that holding down Circle/B makes you taunt, I didn't do a ton of testing but I think it works like a Bayo taunt in that enemies will immediately come after you.
Yeah, it's great for the mechs because it taunts them in to stopping long range attacks so you have something to perfect counter.

Any videos of some high level play? I want to see what the combat system can really do.
The only review worth mentioning.
If you can afford it and have any remote interest in character-action games, do it.
I'm not very familiar with biogamergirl but I sees of folks always highly reccomending the site. What's the backstory on that? Without derailing the thread too much.

Game is okay. Feels a lot like PS2 era licensed games like Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and the Buffy games where you really have to meet it halfway and fill in the blanks the budget couldn't fill in terms of personality. The empty environments and weak story really stick out.
I love the combat, but I really don't like the side-games. Pro bending and Naga should take a hike so the game's precious few hours could be entirely action.
Korra would flip her lid over losing a charity match.

If they give it a 9, I would be crazy not to buy it!
Has anyone compared the X1 and PS4 versions so far? Tempted to just get it on X1 due to having some credit left, but would prefer the 'better' version.
I know what you mean, the last few months have been crazy expensive. All the games coming out this fall do make it hard to put extra cash forward on something I'm not already invested in. I'll most likely get it during the Winter intermission of classes. I do enjoy Platinum after all.

Then why didn't Bayonetta 2 get terrible scores all-around as well?Game reviewers being shit at action games will never get old.

I don't like L3 to lock on (which you really only need for far away enemies), but besides that I haven't had any issues with the controls, they feel fine to me.So I'm flicking through those negative reviews and the big complaints seem to be controls and lack of narrative and characterisation from the show. As someone who doesn't care at all for the source material so couldn't give a crap about the story, I'm really not sure if this is actually a bad game or if the reviewers just have issues that I won't share. Platinum's games having a learning curve that reviewers don't pick up on has happened in the past.
I'll probably pick it up after I'm done with Bayonetta 2.
So it's essentially MGR but bending?
This observation makes me think those people are playing MGR on easy mode only.

Bayo 2 is an outlier in that it's a platinum action game that holds your hand through a lot of the basics. From what I've seen Korra doesn't painstakingly tutorialize every minor element of the combat system and requires a bit of experimentation on the part of the player. It's a lot closer to Rising, W101, or God Hand in that sense. Then why didn't Bayonetta 2 get terrible scores all-around as well?
If skill at character action games was the biggest issue, then surely that would translate at least partially.
Korra has a huge pop up box every time a new technique like parrying etc. is introduced.Bayo 2 is an outlier in that it's a platinum action game that holds your hand through a lot of the basics. I mean, it's not like what I'm claiming is supposition. The IGN and Gamespot reviews both are full of factual inaccuracies about the combat system because these guys are shit and can't be bothered to learn to play.
Games with super low budgets can have great stories. Both IGN's and Gamespot's review spent too much time on the game's story, you can't expect it to reach show level with that kind of budget.
The only valid criticism I saw was boss fight and temple Naga run.
