Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Posted this in the pick-up thread but figured I'd share here as well. Just picked up this little guy:

Plan on using it for PS1/2 and Dreamcast.

You gotta do this with it:

Did anybody buy an HRAP4 from amazon? They said they shipped today and now they're out of stock. Just wondering if they were released.

I preordred from Amazon since June. No info as of yet when they plan to ship. I know that the stick has been delayed twice already.

Hey, fight stick people... got some good news for you!

Skullgirls on PS4 will be the first game to support PS3 peripherals.

http://www.polygon.com/2014/10/22/7040253/skullgirls-encore-ps4-supports-ps3-arcade-sticks-madcatz

We'll give the driver code away for free to anyone who wants to use it, so... tell them you want them to use it.

Perfect timing with this news. Since the HRAP4 was released today and my July pre-order was delayed again, this made canceling my Amazon order a lot more easy.

Thanks to Cowboy and the Lab Zero team for working on this issue and offering to share the driver to others.

This seems like the best place to ask here...

Is anyone here familiar with candy cabs? Specifically the Capcom Impress?

I ask because when running my CPS1 games (mono) I am only getting audio out of the right speaker and I'm not sure if that's normal for this particular cab or if it's supposed to be outputting dual mono through both speakers. Anyone have any insight?

Thanks :)

Are you plugging in any audio outside of the JAMMA connector? Typically if you don't have a stereo output on your source you just let JAMMA do all the work for you. Sound is part of the pinout there.

I know next to nothing about wiring bit it doesn't appear so. It seems like the audio is running from the JAMMA connector to the amp (?), and then out from there as Mono. Could it be that the cab is just wired for single speaker use when in Mono as opposed to being wired in series?

I guess at the end of the day I'd love to be able to deduce if this is simply how the cab was wired, or rewired, or if one of the speakers is dead. Unfortunately I don't have a stereo board to test out or the wiring/tech knowledge to truly understand what's going on in this bad boy @_@.

got the adapter-setup-of-hell running for xrd demo:
sega hss -> mayflash saturn adapter -> pc -> cronus -> ps4
it works - amazingly flawless .... i´m kind of suprised :)

Might want to search (and/or register and ask) on Arcade Otaku. Did some quick searching myself and found this thread which might help:

Anyone get one of those HRAP4's yet

Not from Amazon.
edit: I emailed them about it. They replied with a wall of text where they apologized, said that "it's been taking longer to get the items from the supplier than expected" (I specifically asked about delays - no mention on that), said something about shipping and gave me $10.

Anyone here bought it from the Hori USA website?

Please, can you write more deep impressions about cronus, because for many ppl this device will save allot of money

Well mine main question is does it worth it?
i guess you mean - is it worth it:
for me yes - it works surprisingly lag less and that was my main concern (as far as i can tell by testing inputs of a stick in comparison to a ds4).

And also I want to know how setup works, you need to programm it on pc and then plug ut in to ps4?

1. you connect the cronus to your ps4.
2. connect a DS4 via USB to the cronus
3. connect a pc on a second usb port to the cronus.
4. connect whatever to your pc and map the controls of it to your DS4.

You create a profil on your pc for the device you use.

Hmm...I might try this later. lol

I really want to play Xrd with a stick.

hmm...the other controller must be pluget in to pc when you play, or you can use it instead of ds4?

Found a Hori Mini Stick 3 in Gamestop of all places for 19 bucks on Friday (Oct. 24th). Its like brand new. The person before barely used the thing.

It is smaller than I thought in person but I am getting used to it. I have gotten used to the Fisher Price tier buttons but the gate being smaller is taking some practice but I am getting there.

Its perfect for what I needed just for the PC.

I have a capcom impress, but I haven't tried any CPS 1 games, only CPS2 and 3rd Strike. Do you have the Q amp?

got my qanba mostly the way i like it. seimitsu main buttons and a sanwa stick.
however, i also have an aluminum ball top that is slightly too heavy even with the 2lb spring, any suggestions? i much prefer the feel and look of it but it tends to hit the opposite direction when returning to neutral.

thanks, i do too. i'll probably get it printed again as there are some seams and hasty cuts, in addition to the print being kinda fuzzy. but, it works for now.

I'm in the market for a new arcade stick and I'm having some trouble sorting my options out, so I'm hoping some of you folks could give me some advice.

I play fighting games mostly on 360, but I have a few on PS3 that I also frequent. I also kinda want to get Xrd on PS4. Right now I'm using a TE and I have a 360 to PS3 converter for when I play on PS3.

I wish there was a stick that was just compatible with all 3 systems, but barring that can I find a decent 360 to PS4 converter so I can use my TE for the PS4 version of Xrd? Or if I get a PS3/PS4 TE2 can I find a converter so I can use that version of the TE2 on the 360?

Thanks.

Markman, can you give a date when the TE2 will ship?

I hate having a 200 dollar charge looming over me with no idea exactly when it will happen.

So Guilty Gear Xrd will be the first major fighting game release for the PS4. Any word on whether or not they will enable support for PS3 sticks, since it has been established that this is up to developer implementation?

IIRC the Skullgirls dev have a driver to support it and are giving it free to those who want to use it, but it's up to the developer to use it.

I did. I cancelled my Amazon preorder and bought it from Hori directly. I got my stick in about a week.

As far as I'm aware, there are no PCBs that combine a current gen Sony/MS console with a previous gen of the other manufacturer. So no PS4+360 nor XBone+PS3.

The CronusMax adapter has a workaround where you can connect your 360 stick to the PC and the PC (w/ special software running) to the PS4 to allow use on the PS4. It's a wonky solution, and I can't speak to how well it works. I have one coming this week and hope to try it out since my PC is close enough. I'm not good at judging lag, but I think it's not bad from what I've heard. The CronusMax devs noted they have a new product they're working on which they implied might have some sort of PS4 functionality, but they did not give more more info when I inquired other than it wouldn't be coming til year-end at earliest.

I had a PS4 TE pre-ordered, but canceled it for now until I see how all this pans out with this adapter and upcoming sticks by year end. I can deal with this franken-method for now until I see how much I dig KI and Xrd.

Nice, at least we know Hori USA got them :p

But they don't ship to Brazil, so I'll keep waiting for Amazon. Getting to my hands before Xrd launches is enough to make me happy.
