Nintendo Downloads - October 2014

Guys can anyone help me with the following..? For my 3DS I still haven't linked my profile to a NNID. If I do it will I get stars points for club Nintendo for digital games that I already have or will this apply only for future purchases?

Linking your Club Nintendo account doesn't retroactively give you stars.

From the post though you might not be aware an NNID and Club Nintendo account are different things and one isn't required to do the other (NNID is a sort of account system* while Club Nintendo is the rewards programme).

Always make sure the Club Nintendo account is linked before purchase if the stars are a worry. Games take up to a day to appear. Also remember the double stars bonus for retail games only applies if you do the survey within a month of buying the game.

*-Not mandatory on 3DS and not using it means you're free to change countries on the 3DS. Using an NNID locks you to a single country which sucks when things like this happen.

yep, they are always trying to do things. They would love to bring DQX to the west. They are considering a DQ7r localization but, you know, reasons... They would like to see DQ11 on a big screen.
So many wishful thinking from Square Enix these days.
They probably won't bring FFVI in the west VC. They already are saying that you can download it through Wii VC. Too bad. I would get it again.

Why must they toy with my emotions like this =(

Shovel Knight coming to EU 3ds 6th Nov - is Wii U the same date?

I see Picross E5 is comng 13th Nov which should please EU Picross GAF

Just to be clear, someone tweeted that Shovel Knight listing at Yacht Club and they had no idea whether it was correct or no. NOE has erroneously listed thing before, so don't get too excited.

I would be shocked if they didn't bring it over. Bear in mind that the Wii was well into its lifecycle before Square-Enix brought RPGs over to the service. With that said I'm as impatient about this as anyone so they can hurry up and give 'em to us already.

Maybe in the December-January lull? I assume we're getting DKC through most of November and they won't drop them then.

The difference is that it took Square-Enix ages to release Wii VC games in any region but once they got going they released them everywhere, whereas they've already released a crapload of Wii U/3DS VC games in Japan but haven't even hinted at international releases for any of them.

I refuse to acknowledge your reasonable outlook on this because it means we will likely not get Square-Enix or TurboGrafx games on the Wii U and I simply cannot live like that.

That tweet is extra depressing because it's seriously the first time I've ever seen S-E even acknowledge the Wii U VC. I know the US/EU branches probably can't initiate these releases on their own, even if they want to (and I'm not sure they do), but I don't get why games journalists haven't questioned them about it, or questioned Konami about TG16 games, or anyone else.

The localized Miiverse titles keep me hopeful that TG16 games will make their way west eventually. MSX too although that's a longer shot.

Hopefully. I'm beating a dead horse but I don't see why they can't just throw one or two games per week on top of the usual one they put out. Maybe not on days with a major release like tomorrow, but how about when they release Life Force, why not throw on New Adventure Island too? Would that affect Life Force's sales? I tend to think not.

So, The Voice comes out digitally on the eShop today at noon. I know, not very interesting. However, it's worth pointing out that it's an Activision published title and they've never put their games in the shop before. Also, both Wii U Skylanders games are listed as Retail/Digital with "TBA," meaning they should be in the eShop soon too. Hoping maybe this means Call of Duty Black Ops and Ghosts finds its way there for an affordable price, I'd like to have them digitally.

Also, I thought Demon's Crest was this week? Maybe I have my dates mixed up, Nintendo's page is only showing Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow for today. Oh well, I'll be able to come home to a Smash Direct and start downloading the Bayonettas at midnight! Woohoo!

I'm hopeful that their plan for the dry months after Xmas (Jan-July) is to hit the Virtual Console hard to keep the games stream flowing. But I also hoped for that for the last two years too :/ Not sure why they can't seem to get Sega on board with Genesis titles, the Sonic games are obvious omissions. Some 'Turbo or Neo Geo lovin' would be nice too. N64. At least get it up to Wii's standards. Here we were thinking we'd get Dreamcast and Gamecube lol.

Ah, that sucks. That's the version I wanted and I seriously don't know if I want to buy the game twice...

Well, just so you know, they're pretty much the same game aside from HD character portrats/UI on Wii U; they didn't redraw the game in HD like they did for Mighty Switch Force, it uses the same graphics as the 3DS version.

Hmm, interesting. Didn't know that. So technically it's just a 3DS game that was upscaled?

More or less, yeah. Some of the character portraits and other stuff like HUD elements are in HD but everything else is as-is from the 3DS version. Mighty Switch Force 2 for Wii U is the same way.

So I might be a special case, but I had this actually happen to me!
Trying to go for a promo for buying Zelda ALBW on release day on 3DS I booted up my laptop. Shit I forgot my Club Nintendo password! No problem, I'll reset it. I then proceeded to buy ALBW on the 3DS and stared at my laptop for the purchase to show up in my Club Nintendo Account. Now it turns out that because I had reset the password before the purchase, I had unlinked my Club Nintendo Account from the 3DS, since I forgot to also change the password there. So now treasure chest bonus, and no stars!

However, when I got myself an NNID to link with the eshop and my Club Nintendo Account, I suddenly had ALBW pop up there, eligible for stars and all.

So, I don't know. YMMV?

Really hope that "december" for Shantae on Wii U is "december"

Crap, hoped it'd be a cheapie, guess I'll pass. Can't draw for crap and thought it might be good practice if it were ~$15

Hmm, interesting. Didn't know that. So technically it's just a 3DS game that was upscaled?

Sort of but it won't look like ugly upscaled games--pixels should be clean, but it's still pixelart. They did it for MSF 2 on Wii U which is a shame, the first is lovely.

I think we need to add Sweet Memories: Black Jack to the drinking game of "take a shot every time this game goes on sale".

See also Atlus titles.

I got my physical copy of Bayo1/2 today. Sort of suck that we wont have an OT until tomorrow. Where am I supposed to GLOAT like a mofo?

Two, indeed. The Voice and Korra.

Skylanders: Trap Team is available for download as well, even if just on Wii U but not on 3DS.

I wonder what blocked Activision so far from putting content on the eShop.

Awww yeah Castlevania! And Bayonetta tomorrow!

It's a good time to be a Wii U owner
If you like classic games to take up time between retail releases!
XD

My daughter traded in a bunch of her old wii and ds games to get some eShop cards in anticipation for Pokemon Art Academy. I love raising my kids to be Nintendo Kids :-p

Ahhh Pier Solar! the Wii U version is looking very promising. Might still get the Vita version, not sure. Also, Wii U version of Shantae and the Pirate's curse was delayed? Shucks, seems like I've been waiting for that game quite a while.

Wii U version wasn't delayed. It was never announced for an October release.
