Xbox One Available for $349 in the U.S. This Holiday Season

Desperate as hell, go all the way 299.99
MS are so afraid to lose all year long NPDs
its obvious. If they do lose Nov/Dec its over for MS why? because Jan/Feb etc wont be any different.

So its $350 and it includes a game now hmm.. tempting. Just wish they all had 1TB hard drives.
That and it needs a revision that reduces some its unnecessary bulk

I know Europe is pretty much Sony-Land, but they should aim to do something, though I completely understand about being aggressive in the US first. I don't think they'll ever catch up with Sony over here, but there's still potential consumers available.

I just posted in the PAL sales thread so as to wonder if there are still alot of 360 owners that have not yet upgraded consoles in the UK at least.

I wonder if the price drop makes a difference to them. Lots of friends of mine (I'm not holding that out to be statistically valuable information!) still logging in to their 360s at the moment with things like Borderlands and Fifa being played. I wonder if a price drop makes a difference to them.

Guess we will see after Christmas/Holiday season.

Desperate or not, competition is good for the consumers and I'm happy that people can get the X1 at a lower price. Sucks I paid 500, but Titanfall was worth it.

What should they do, sit back and get beat? They're a business in this to win, so no shit they're gonna make some moves ... SMH.

OT: They need a draw on black friday, so I reckon we may see $299 for one day only.

Quick! someone change this face to Mattrick!

Competition? they been far from that
if Sony doesnt respond how is this helping consumers???

This is all desperation by MS, sony doesnt have to do anything and its selling?

that new lady boss doesnt want to see all year long losing NPDs its that simple.

If MS doesnt win Nov & Dec its over

I don't understand these posts that are upset about price drops. Most people who purchase consoles early know there's a chance it may drop in price but also have hopefully enjoyed their purchase in the meantime. Also, this is essentially $50 "loss", not $150 for most early adopters because I believe most who purchased it at that time was interested in the Kinect and what it had to offer.

Also, I think this is a win win for MS. As the price drops it makes it easier for everyone to get a Xbox and even those who already have one may pick up another, especially with the multimedia capabilites that it has to offer.

Uh technically you can get a bundle under $299 :p

You rat bastards that don't have the amazon visa card or w/e it is that I have that shaves off $60 off any order when you apply for it on Amazon.com .. Christ. Excellent deal still

Hmmm, tempting, but I know MS will get more desperate. If this was 349.99 plus Kintlect, I'd consider it, but as of now, NO. Come on MS, get more desperate, please. Want a cheap Kinect Bundle.

Brilliant analysis, especially the bit about "lady bosses" ...

Competition is good for everybody. Microsoft's trying to punch up to Sony's weight; if they succeed, that'll kick Sony in the rear and hopefully get them moving and shaking a bit as well.

If they fail, though...well, I remember when I bought a Saturn with 6 free games

Smells of desperation, but it will probably work. I consider this good for everyone.

I'm not sure I agree.

MS isn't producing any new games, or better hardware. They are leveraging the vast amount of money the company makes that is totally unconnected to games to buy market share. They have an inferior product, and the only reason they might succeed with it is because they can afford to take a huge loss on every unit sold.

That's not 'good' competition - whilst it delivers a short term pay off (yay, cheap consoles!) it's bad for gamers if this generation ends up being restrained because of the XBones power issues.

Generally when MS have done this in the past, it hasn't worked out for the consumer in the long run at all. I'd rather they did well because they invested in good games and good hardware, not because they can afford to sell stuff really cheaply.

The salt in this thread is hilarious.

Desperate would imply the console isn't selling very well, which it is. MS is doing whatever it can to help close the gap with PS4 in the US, why wouldn't they lol.

Good deal for people interested in a bone.. wonder if it stacks with that $100 trade in credit on a 360.

On the other hand.. the crocodile tears in this thread are delicious.

Youre assuming price is the problem, its actually the initial approach was the problem,
they aint fixing the after effects of that with desperation, it takes years to gain the mindshare back.

people out there have has very low interest on the xbox brand since Nov 2013, all numbers show facts that the interest hasnt spiked at all as npds have shown.

So this is bullshit that it doesn't start until November 2nd. I have the sunset overdrive bundle pre ordered. If I cancel and try to wait, I'd say there is a high chance it's sold out and I won't be able to find one.

Is there any other options I have i'm not thinking of?

Good god, Spencer effect. Awesome OS, great price, healthy selection of good exclusives, MCC... if this doesnt shoot them to the top this nov/dec nothing will

Hmm if this applies to pre-owned... I'm definitely passing on pre-ordering the sunset overdrive bundle and grabbing a used joint from gamestop.

If it's at gamestop... Couldn't you cancel it when you go to the store then repurchase it while there? Lol.

Doing stuff like this is not a particularly inventive thing; other companies do this all the time.

If Microsoft fails, then Sony wins the day. But just staying put isn't going to work.

It would shock me if it didn't. I forgot about that deal.

I doubt it will. No retailer promotions go over to used stuff, at least none that I've seen

Hope the retailers try to battle it out for Black Friday with an extra bonus like store credit thrown in. I'm gonna cave to play KI, and every bit helps me justify it.

Hmmm..I'll bite at $350 if they have good black Friday sales. Only to play MCC.

This could be the Black Friday deal, it's in less than a month and it doesn't appear this price drop is advertised anywhere in next week's ads, or the news would have leaked before this announcement....

It will probably be advertised in the Black Friday ads, even though the deal starts before then...

But there are always store bundles or deals....stores could do on their own deals....

I was thinking something along a similar timeline as well.

Also why are there people in here clamoring for Sony to react? They don't need to do anything to keep taking in the cash this holiday.

Do they need to? Heck nah. PS4 is probably close to outselling X1 2-1 worldwide.

My reasons are purely selfish, as I want a PS4 this holiday. And getting one $50 cheaper, or with free games thrown in, or both on Black Friday would make a year long wait worth while :)

I'm hoping MS with a great holiday lineup at an attractive price will lead Sony to fulfill my wish.

All according to keikaku*

*Keikaku means plan

Going to take them a long quite to do that.

Facts buddy. Yes even Xbox having a lady powerful boss put there to change this failing business

Wow, salt with a slight taste of sexism.

OT: This will be a big move for MS, best thing they could do, IMO.

X1 should always be lower in price than the PS4, but with a free game (even 2)? Excellent.

Good move by MS.

After last gen's glacier like speed for price drops, this is almost shocking to see a console get this low before the one year point, with a pack in game.
