Xbox One Available for $349 in the U.S. This Holiday Season

I'm not sure if half the people here have kids or even know someone with kids.

Protip - For Christmas Little Jimmy gets what he wants, not something he didn't ask for because it's $50 cheaper.

Good on MS though at this rate I'll probably jump in on a good BF deal

You know, that is a dangerous precedent that Microsoft is setting regarding Xbox One.

These constant barrages of price cuts and promotions could produce an undesirable effect where consumers could actually be hesitant to buy the console because they'll just wait till they cut the price again.

It's a win for consumers, but from a business perspective, this does not instill confidence in Xbox One, and it exudes desperation.

This is very true. I know I am now clearly in the wait and see how desperate they get boat.

Why jump now? It's not like the software is that compelling.

I am also not sure how much I like this race to the bottom.

Yes it serves us as consumers in the very near term, but at what point is it no longer viable to maintain support? As we head in to these digital media ecosystems, I begin to wonder how long these companies will keep these things in life support? I mean look at the 360, how much longer does MS keep that thing alive? It is clearly hurting the One. If they keep slashing the One at what point does that expedite the death of the Xbox brand?

Very worrisome. I would like to eventually own every system but even at $350 there still isn't compelling software for me that I can't get and play better on my PC.

From $500 at launch to $350 less than a year later. Ouch.
This probably says more about what position Microsoft is in than anything else. Xbox One is NOT selling well.

Is this for real?

Let's take a step back for a second and try to look at this from your average consumer's point of view.
They probably don't give a shit about the distinction of what is, and is not exclusive. So they look at the big games this Holiday. New Assassin's Creed, Farcry, COD etc all launching on both consoles - except one is more powerful and statistically, they may have more friends playing on it too.

I'm just not sure where this mentality that the XB1 exclusives are a threat when multiplats and mindshare sit overwhelmingly in favour of Sony. Worst/Best case scenario is that Sony get marginally outsold across Nov and December and then continue to stomp for the majority of next year.

Regardless the competition is good. I'm looking forward to seeing if this price cut turns up in Australia in some form, because Halo MCC is looking tasty.
And 2 of those 3 games you listed have an XB1 bundle which is now $50 off.

I get what you're saying but i think Sony cares more about profit than "winning" a few months in the USA.
Remember they did VERY well with that $450 Destiny bundle last month.

That's true, but holiday shoppers have a lot of gifts to buy and there are a lot of PS3 and 360 owners yet to buy in to current gen. Giving them a better value at the right time of the year is smart business, whether you like MS or not.

Honestly it's probably the only place WW (outside of UK) they have a shot at making up some ground. May as well spend the $$ where it'll have some effect.

I thought they did well in all English dominated speaking countries? (Canada, Aus, NZ) And Mexico/Brazil.

Guess so. I wonder how much of their sales come from US. 70%? 80?

60% up until recently. Last gen is was 50%.

I kind of feel like waiting a week is a move to write off October NPD numbers in an attempt to do everything possible to win November.

Sucks for Sunset Overdrive on launch day. Seriously MS, you couldn't OK the SO bundle to be discounted a week early? :\

Lol

Sorry but getting your ass kicked at home and getting utterly tea bagged world Wild is what spawned this move not them Rollin up their sleaves and pulling themselves up by the bootstraps.

That said, as much as I hate the Xbox brand right now I will Probaly grab one on Black Friday so I can play exclusives with my Xbros

Lol, just like a lil kid who resorts to slapping, scratching and biting, love it =)!

Sunset is gonna get a sucky NPD opening but hopefully by the end of the year we get LTD's cos I think it's going to do better than most think.

And yeah, they're really maximising Novembers #. Nov 2nd is first day of November NPD counting period.

Let's be real here now. The price of entry is cheaper with Kinectless SKU but removing Kinect and selling it separately for $150 is not really a price drop.

I say they stand their ground and win Nov & Dec, then people will realize the reality of this gen.

For some reason people are hungry to see MS
win Nov & Dec, they forget MS wants to win every single month since nov 2013...

This is correct. The odds are still that Sony will continue to sell more consoles even with this temporary price cut.

This.

Not sure why ppl are referring to it otherwise. It cost a $100 less because there was less in the box.

We know that :) I'm just happy for all people that waited for a price drop and less than a year later they can get their console for 350. I wonder how on earth can they afford this. Any suggestions?

what are the chances that 1) Gamestop does follow suit with the $50 price drop and 2) I can "return" my purchase and rebuy with the $50 off.

I'm not really interested in Sunset Overdrive, or the AC games, so I might just sell those codes.

Any word on how long Microsoft stores are doing their trade in deal?

Because MS has lowered the price of entry by any means in less than a year, and thown in a free game. The kinect was supposed to be Microsoft's bread and butter.

Their rival hasnt done anything.

Either way, consumers always win in times like these.

People seriously need to stop with this MS has unlimited funds crap. Xbox is a division. Divisions have a thing called a budget. They do not have unlimited money to throw at the console or to take deep hits on it.

It was a tiny bit of sarcasm :)

Yes the fact that the deal is US alone is telling. Or, they're simply content to only work harder in the place where 60% of their sales come from.

Told my coworker about this on break. Target Discount + RED Card bonus is going to be so good for any of these bundles. It'll come out to about $310 for him.

I'm also going to hook my friend up with my discount, too. Cause I'm a good guy.

There's a pretty decent install base that the game can potentially chart well regardless. Plus I'm sure there's people who will get the bundle anyway just to play the game now as it's reviewing quite well.

If they win November and December is that really a victory though? It will just go back to normal starting January. Whatever gap they've shrunk in the U.S. won't matter.

$350 is going to move alot of consoles though. Waiting to see what Sony does. If they feel they need to do anything at all.

if i buy the so bundle on tuesday and the price drops in five days i can call target and they will give me the difference right? i mean i could always return the item and rebuy it so why would they make me do that

Why don't they drop the price in Europe? The console is somewhat dead at least in Germany and MS doesn't even bundle a game to the console for 399€ (500$). Last week a store manager of one of the big retailers, Saturn, told me that the stores are making bundles themselves to reduce stock while loosing money.

On the other hand I'm still pleased that I bought a One with 2 games for 370€ half a year ago.

I dunno, don't retailers return stock they can't sell or get a better margin from the supplier rather than taking a hit ?

Bundles have been common place for months and keep getting better. I don't think all retailers are going to suck that up themselves, Microsoft must be helping behind the scenes. From the deals in the UK, I don't think Microsoft is going to offer much more, your getting two, three games for around £350, and even around £300 on the odd occasion with one game. The console itself goes for £329.99. A retailer can't be offering those sort of deals by themselves and happily sign up for more stock from Microsoft down the road, waste of money on their part.

Amazon France have the Fifa Bundle for 375 Euros.
