Valkyria Chronicles for PC [Nov 11, £14/20/$20, has all DLC, 60fps/1080p+, $14 GMG]

And with one swift strike, my Sega boycott ends. Well played Sega, well played.

Seriously can't believe this though, I'm more shocked than FF13 pc. Somebody hold me

Gah, speaking of boycotts, this isn't going to get the kind of attention it deserves since TotalBiscuit has been on a permanent Sega boycott ever since Sega of Japan got overzealous with copyright claims a few years ago.

to pop up, because as any VC vet knows, that didn't do well for the franchise's future back then.
The franchise is dead, so I'm not in a particular hurry to re-purchase the game on the PC. However, if they make vague promises of a Valkyria Chronicles 3 localization if this port is successful, then my stance would change completely.

Well, with an attitude like that...

This is amazing news! Thank you Sega!

Sorry if this has been covered already but...

Didn't Durante make Sega an offer to port this? Wonder if he's involved maybe?
I hope Sega doesn't base their decision to port other games on VC sales alone. It's kind of a niche title IMHO. But then again let's hope it's better suited to PC.

I bought it day one on ps3, Ill buy it day one on PC in hopes its sparks SEGA to revive the franchise, or at least give us an HD collection with 3 in it.

3 is supposed to be a return-to-form, although I still haven't gotten around to playing it myself.
That sounds promising!

Nope, but I wonder if his offer made them reveal Valkyria Chronicles first if they have more in the pipeline.

All things considered, don't PEGI ratings only usually come around close to release? Assuming that, this PC port was probably already being worked on well before Durante made that post.

This is incredible. I am definitely purchasing this ASAP.

I really reallllly hope this does well enough to keep this trend going. It feels like a PC gaming uprise, and it's only just beginning.

Does anybody else get all giddy when titles like this come to PC?

Seeing this announcement is bringing back a lot of memories of this game.

My chest still gets heavy when I think about the ending and a bunch of other moments throughout the game.

I definitely recommend this to anyone who's interested in turn based strategy games with real time elements.

Valkyria Chronicles gameplay, story, aesthetic and music are something that I think a lot more people should experience.

Scout rushing still requires some amount of planning and strategy, however little. In XCOM you could get though plenty of the random maps just by having two Squad Sight-ed Snipers overwatch and leave the rest to them. It's also not really optimal if you're not killing all the special units that award you weapons and extra rank, but I guess that's splitting hairs if you're still getting rank A.

Again, most of this is solved in the DLC ex-hard maps: no orders, no tank and interception fire kills just about anything in a couple of seconds. Hopefully they can work on a similar rebalance for the main game.
I never bothered with the hard mode DLC because I didn't find the base game compelling enough to continue, but that's still extra content that doesn't change how most of the game plays. I don't really see Sega making design or balance changes to this port.

Will rebuy just to support the game - not sure whether I'll actually play it. Sorta like Legend of Herors - Trails in the Sky that I bought and never even installed.

BTW, VC2 was disappointing but VC3 (which I played on PC on an emulator + translation patch) is very very good IMHO.

I think they should port VC3 to PC despite PSP level graphics.

Oh shit, will rebuy day one, first bit of good news out of Sega in a long time. Hopefully this well get some success on PC and ultimately get us the calibre of sequel this game deserves.
Waiting for the Yakuza series to make the leap now, I'll happily buy those again too.

Just make a proper sequel and call it Valkyria Chronicles 2.

They could remake VC3 with bigger maps and that would be good enough for now.

Jumping between tiny maps on PSP was annoying (for those who did not play VC2 or VC3, because of PSP limitations maps were split into little maps joined by junction points).

I feel a bit guilty for waiting for both this and Vanquish to be pretty heavily discounted before buying them. Both were worth more than what I paid for them.

That would be great.

VC3 was a game worthy of its IP. It deserved a full fledged remake.
