Valkyria Chronicles for PC [Nov 11, £14/20/$20, has all DLC, 60fps/1080p+, $14 GMG]

Ok, is this the part where I go into Hype Overload™? Is that allowed yet? Vanquish + Bayo 1 coming to Steam with 4K resolution and/or 120Hz support would seriously be the greatest thing.

That plus the prospect of Atlus stuff coming over if Sega goes full throttle PC makes me way too excited.

The hype is forever real.

Well, JP Kellams (IIRC) is getting Durante's PC port manifesto translated into Japanese, so maybe if Vanquish does get on PC, it won't have a 1080p cap.

I usually don't like SRPGs but I loved Valkyria Chronicles, one of my favorite of all PS3 games. PC gamers are in for a treat. I'm also happy for the possible implications for future Sega ports of niche console titles.

Hold up...which Shining titles are you thinking of? Were you possibly thinking of the Shining Force games, the older strategy type games?

sega started making shining games with the valkyria chronicles engine/team for the psp around 2011 or 2012. we never got them because sega had abandoned the platform around that time. there's a new shining game coming out next month for the ps3 based on that version of the series.

JP Kellams too.

Well this should be incentive for people to support this release (other than you know, VC being a really great game and I want to see the series come back).

This is one more reason not to sell the UDON Press art-book I bought at a convention years ago. So much detail about the weaponry alone.

Wait, such a thing exists? (PS I love that UDON released all three VC art books, well outside of Duel)

Edit: read it wrong and I'm dumb, thought there was a special press book.

Ooooh man this is great. People with even a passing interest in stylized strategy games need to give this a shot. Cool art/narrative/characters, and cool character-based team planning and scenario variety.

Probably my favorite game of last gen despite its flaws. Hope all the new players experiencing the game for the first time enjoy it as much as I did.

Excited to have this confirmed, impatient for further details! All I need is a release date, confirmation of the DLC packs being included and will there's be kb&m support and resolution options. To be fair the artstyle and filters used in VC all it really needs is a resolution boost to clean everything up to look gorgeous, well more gorgeous.

They actually have 3, one for each entry though the first is gigantic weighing in about 400 pages.

Holy shit...is this reality? Valkyria Chronicles was one of my favorite games on the PS3! Despite my love for that console, my PC has become my go to platform of choice in recent years, so being able to play this with the possibility of so many graphics settings...oh man, I -need- this so bad. SEGA is delivering the goods!

Now, if only we can have Jet Set Radio Future...
*dreaming intensifies*

Capcom would just throw GFWL on it and make sure it is controller only and 720p at most. Because you know, it's Capcom.

...After Capcom has moved off GfWL and is in the process of porting Biohazard 5 to Steamworks?

Please.

Capcom has hasn't used GFWL in over two years, and with a few exceptions, their PC ports are extremely good. So I don't see how anyone would expect a bad PC port from them. I can't even remember a single port from them which was max 720p or controller only.

Really surprised it hasn't happened yet.

Sorry, my bias got in the way :). Isn't the Dead Rising 3 port still a mess, at least by a performance stance?

Gotta love Patrick Klepek being totally dismissive.

lol what a joke

Valkyria Chronicles with some Steam features, graphical options, and proper mouse M/KB support will be my gaming highlight of the year. All these years later. Sega does PC right too, so I've got 100% faith in the outcome--none of the Squeenix or From locked res bullshit.

I can't wait.

For someone who liked Fire Emblem and X-COM, I'm surprised that Patrick doesn't care for this game.

Anyway, the more games coming to PC the better as it becomes almost impossible to play older games down the future otherwise. I'm about halfway through the game on PS3 (have been there for a year now) and really loving it.

It is. I'd say that falls into the camp of exceptions (although, you could argue it's a problem with the game itself and not the port, since it doesn't exactly perform great on Xbox One).

Capcom's ports done inhouse are all great. I wouldn't be surprised if DMC4 and RE5 are among the best optimized games you can play on PC.

Hahaha, oh man.
What a lame behaviour. Even if you don't take into account the fact that Taro and Grief contacted him about the petition... nobody asked for this ? Yeah, what about 13k people signing the petition ? What about even the people interested in the game ?

Even just the fact that this thread went to over 1000 posts in less than a day kind of makes it hard to argue that nobody was really asking for it.

That's his schtick. I tweeted him to check out Trails in the Sky when it was out on Steam and he favorited it.

It's frankly incredibly irrelevant even if true. The fact is, it's here, and more people can play one of the best games last gen. More Japanese devs supporting Steam and the PC is a great thing. Being all snarky about it is counterproductive and is irritating. Patrick can be hit or miss with his stuff IMO :(.

Indeed.

I think less people asked for this in particular because nobody expected it to ever happen, at all. It doesn't mean many people wouldn't have loved to see it, as this thread has shown.

Even if the demand wasn't being cried from the rooftops, it's a welcome move from SEGA and doesn't warrant such cynicism.
