I officially have the post with the highest post number ever in a ComicsGAF thread. Aw yeah.
And October is usually the best month, except for this year when California decided that it was still summertime and felt that we didn't get quite enough 80+ degree days this year.
But this morning, since it's November now, summertime finally gave up the ghost (okay, is this not the perfect use for this idiom? Using it to explain the day after Halloween? I'm giving myself a high five for this one) and decided to start raining and being cold sometime during the night, probably at exactly midnight.
All that to say, November looks like it's gonna have October beat this year.

Jupiter's Legacy is only up to issue #4. It's been out for like a year and a half. Issue #5 comes out this month.

I honestly don't hate it. I don't think it is as great as the pitch, but the art is perfect like usual. Quitely is a master of scale and depth and is right up there with Moebius and Stokoe.

Watched The Dark Knight Returns animated film this morning and really enjoyed it. He's no Kevin Conroy but I thought Peter Weller was decent as an older Bats. As I've become more of a Superman fan I like how he's portrayed in Returns less and less but the fight scene at the end was fun. £4 wasn't bad for both parts.

Probably why both are sticking out to me. They feel so..."real" I guess is the word? Maybe authentic would be better. The art in Outcast really takes me back to late fall in the Northeast where everything is just kind of shitty, gray, and dark looking. It has a real oppressive feel. I love it. The story is fairly straight forward exorcist stuff but MAN is it well written.

Full time job here, though honestly most of my posting happens while at work. On the weekends I'm doing shit around the apartment, spending time with my GF, and trying to play video games.
Did you know I didn't finish black flag. I got 3/4 of the way through it, and then the fucking seagate external hard drive died and took all my game saves with it. I disliked the ship stuff so much I can't go back.
Also my GF and I got woken up at 4 am this morning by my server's raid card's alarm because the last of the seagate drives I bought died. Fuck Seagate. 4 drives in 2 years dead.
YAY on Batman 35 making it, at least 1 of the books I voted for made it in the list this month.

Talking to my LCS shop owner, he is overwhelmed by the amount of books coming out these days. Not just any books, actual quality books. I think there is a direct correlation with how our thread has grown and how the comic industry has grown. My shop owner said that it's hard for him to make recommendations anymore because he can't keep up with everything. It's easier to recommend the big 2 characters than trying to find that perfect indie books for someone.
I think our book of the month and our whole thread is kinda like that. Ten thousand post in one month, while impressive, was not a fun month of comic discussion. Lot of noise and not much focus with any discussion. I think we defaulted to the characters we love in the voting. I'm not saying the books in the top 3 are not worthy of being there, it's just easier to have a group rally for some characters we know than trying something different. Kinda like my shop owner.

Thanks for that, good to feel accepted! I would like to make the old wall of shame at least once though. Hopefully actually reading comics will help with that this month.

As far as I know, the only place to buy it is Bergen St Comics in Brooklyn or etsy when Michael Fiffe randomly puts issues up there for sale. It'd be great to be proven wrong since it sounds like something I'd absolutely love.
