Sweet, an IST order arrived:

Street-Level Order
Batman - Mad Love and Other Stories
The Immortal Iron Fist - Complete Collection Vol. 1
Daredevil by Mark Waid - Vol. 1
She-Hulk - Law and Disorder

Not really into the new She-Hulk, but that's a great order. You got lots of good reading in there.

I kind of want to make an IST order but I have too many things to read right now.

It kind of makes sense since I assume they will have a companion comic to the new TV series.

I've been meaning to catch up on the RiD series, but I just know it's going to fall short of More Than Meets the Eye. I didn't think anyone else in the thread read the TF books since they're rarely discussed.

I have a nice pile of it that I need to read. I recall last time I posted my plan was Wreckers, then alternate More Than Meets the Eye and Robots in Disguise up through vol. #5 of each, then Dark Prelude into Dark Cybertron which would be all I have. And someone said to make sure I do one of the volume 1s first, but I can't remember which. I really need to keep track of this stuff better.

Holy shit, me too!

You actually reminded me that Detective Comics is out as well. I'm waiting for the potential Miracle Man Omnibus so that's not going on the list. What's the word on that though? You liking the new art and all that?

Anyways, I can't think of a whole lot that I want to get this weekend. I was bored yesterday so I bought all the deluxe hardcovers of Y The Last Man, and today I figured I would finally bite on those G Gundam DVD sets. Bandai will never re-release them on Blu, so I picked up the set for $64 and saved myself the trouble of trying to find them when the final dozen or so copies dry up on Amazon.

Also, watched a little more stuff today. Did the run from Kids' Stuff up through Dark Heart (the replicating robots one). There were some nice, nice episodes in there! Really, that last on was the only so-so one of the bunch! Particularly nice to see a great episode centered around Booster Gold. Really, really love Booster Gold. And nice Superfriends homage in the one episode, too. And for my random question/comment of the day... Steel can just straight up fly? I guess I've only ever seen him before in the... I think new 52 Superman? Whichever one had his origin alongside Superman fighting Brainiac or some-such. It's been a bit since I read it, but I thought he was an Iron Man style dude in a mech suit, but he was just plain flying without jets or anything of the sort...

Oh, and Mask of the Phantasm was good, though I did have the reveal spoiled by a Topless Robot list which mentioned a toy that also spoiled said reveal like, a good while back. Still fun though and a whole ton of a lot better than Subzero was.

Definitely not a bad idea, as Bandai is sadly straight up dead. There's always a chance that somebody else will salvage it like what happened to a number of their licenses already, but it's far from a guarantee. Also, G Gundam is seriously awesome. And surprisingly not just for the ridiculous "what the hell were they thinking?!" moments with the more... questionable... designs.

G Gundam has picked up the reputation of thatsracist.gif as of late, so that's why I'm thinking nobody will ever touch that series again. It's ridiculous, it's fun, and it's one of the defining shows of my tween/early teen years.

And really, burning finger might be one of the best names for a Gundam sex act ever.

Gundam is gonna get localized again. I forgot who it was, but someone picked up Turn A Gundam for next year. Plus we get Gundam Build Fighters every week through their official Youtube channel which is always awesome.

Nice variety in there too-- comics, manga, and books without pictures! Interested in seeing what else they add.

but I am taking tiny steps forward

I want to buy something else this weekend, but I'm not sure what. I do like that mondo Pet Cemetary poster, but I also want to buy some
Books. I'm going to pick up a new absolute or two this weekend.

OKAY FINE. You ball as hard as Cheska and Freeza. ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?

Now you can stop buying things for the sole purpose of proving your baller status. :p

Don't know why anyone would buy the expensive miracle man issues. I guess it's because I've already read it years ago but I'm waiting for the omnibus version that we all know is coming. Good series though. Surprisingly I ended up liking Gaimans run in it more. His stuff was great

The Miracleman art restoration has been great, but they fucked up with this pricing. Don't know what they were thinking with that shit.

Man I don't buy that Turn A localization news for a minute. I heard the same rumors like 2 years ago and nothing happened.

The DBZ Battle of The Gods is on sale on Amazon so I got that as well.

Yes ^_^

The same shit they're thinking with $4.99 events. (edited because my bad, SHIELD is $3.99)

I'm gonna guess it's because of the amount of legal nonsense with Todd and co. that had to be sorted out. Quesada announced they had the rights back in like... 2009?

They announced Turn A at a convention or something, and then Bandai Entertainment collapsed. It's supposed to be released by Rightstuf at some point now.

What kind of heroes do you like more? Streetlevel heroes or more on a bigger level operating heroes?

Both. I do have a fondness for the heroes who work in the background of things like Bucky though, hence why he's one of my favorite characters. Cap is another favorite and he operates on the bigger level.

All about that market share and they know sucker will shell out for it.

Yep. I wouldn't be surprised if piracy becomes more commonplace as prices rise though. Marvel may pull some Ubisoft shit in a more digital future.

My heart can't take much more of this. I have never seen the show and this has been my favorite action figure of mine since I was 11 years old. I got it at EB Games on clearance when I was a kid:

Talking to my LCS shop owner, he is overwhelmed by the amount of books coming out these days. Not just any books, actual quality books. I think there is a direct correlation with how our thread has grown and how the comic industry has grown. My shop owner said that it's hard for him to make recommendations anymore because he can't keep up with everything. It's easier to recommend the big 2 characters than trying to find that perfect indie books for someone.

I think our book of the month and our whole thread is kinda like that. Ten thousand post in one month, while impressive, was not a fun month of comic discussion. Lot of noise and not much focus with any discussion. I think we defaulted to the characters we love in the voting. I'm not saying the books in the top 3 are not worthy of being there, it's just easier to have a group rally for some characters we know than trying something different. Kinda like my shop owner.

Totally agree with this, last month's thread was a fuck ton of noise with no signal. Just a bunch of people talking into the void.

That's kind of a scary though for an industry where piracy already runs rampant. I remember reading an interview with Kieron Gillen a few years ago where he was talking about how frequently people approach him at cons and say some variation of "You're so great, I've torrented everything you've done!" You know that's happening across the board.

^^ Gundam has much lower lows, but also much higher highs. Then again I'm not a typical Macross fan -- I like DYRL and 7 a ton and everything else I could really do without

dang dude, building master grades at 11?

but yeah, I love Turn A. I waffle between that and G as my favourite.

I disagree completely about it being easier for us to recommend big two books over indies. I think we do the exact opposite unless someone one asks for Cape books or a specific character. It's a cop out.

I also loved last month's thread and found it quite entertaining.

What does this even mean though? I mean we're never going to read the same books so specific comic discussion is going to be fairly difficult. As we're not going to start threads for specific tastes and cliques you pretty much have to start a topic and see whom bites.

Well, this particular figure was not a master grade. It was an actual boxed imported action figure and had all of those parts. I was building master grades at 11 though. I was a little weirdo and I don't flaunt it but I actually do draw and make things or whatever. I love to paint.

I couldn't be on yesterday :( I wasn't on the entire day due to making a costume for my little sister. And I didn't even have time to finish carving my Groot pumpkin :(

We'll end up in the Community ghetto with more threads like last month's. There was already a lot of rabble rousing in the "OTs on release date" thread about why we're still in OT when other threads aren't. If that happens, all OT is left with as far as comics is Slayven threads about which Celestial would win in a pissing contest.

If I want to talk about a specific book. I bring it up and chat with whoever engages with me. We discussed Batgirl and Gotham Academy at length earlier this month. Velvet as well. I gave no problems getting discussion out of here when I need it.

Us specifically. Interesting.

True. But OG gundam universe is still badass.

I kickstarted the Robotech miniatures since it's the closest thing to Macross we're going to get (
and I actually like Robotech too
). I can't wait to put them together. It'll be my first time ever.

To keep this on topic: I gave serious thought to getting the OG Gundam manga/trades whatever. I still kind of want them. Anyone have them? They worth it?

Attention Valiant comic readers (I think there might be a couple out there?)

I think I'm going to start culling the list. The product line was so great for so long but it feels like its in a slump. That last event felt unnecessary and should have just been an xo man of war story. So I think ill pair it down to just Archer & Armstrong and Harbinger. And I'll avoid their event books for a while. Maybe catch up on xo through a digital sale

At the very least, I know Freeza and I and maybe Rafa get these:

Not my pic, but from GAF.

I was thinking of making a DC Comics Community thread in the community forum. Marvel gets multiple threads for its events and movies and whatever they do. I'm sure there is some like minded DC fans on GAF that would like to talk about DC related stuff without having to debate. I would like to have discussions about Futures End, Eternal, Worlds End, Multiversity and any upcoming DC events. I don't want to have to go through 3-6 pages per day and try and find discussion on these topics. I want to come into a thread and and the discussion be there. This thread has become too big. It's more of an Community thread now.

I honestly wouldn't mind if Marvel and DC got their own respective OTs.

I've never felt like there was something comic related I couldn't talk about here. You want to talk about justice League just start posting about it.

As long as we still have a ComicGAF. I won't feel the need to post elsewhere.

I actually don't think you'll get the audience unless Ben Affleck makes an appearance in Multiversity or something.

The "DC stay losing" thing has just become a GAF meme for movie nerds, like gifs for wrestling, that puppet thing for PonyGAF or waifu stuff for anime/manga. I honestly wouldn't worry about it.

I also wouldn't start a thread for a DC event until a new one actually starts. You do one for Future's End, you'll get ten pages of "WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO READ 27 ISSUES AND A BUNCH OF TIE-INS? FUCK THIS COMPANY!" Best to start on the ground floor. It'll be difficult though.
