Lol I know and you're like the only one.

I am going to make a Walking Dead OT sooner than later, but it's because Walking Dead is just to big to handle.
Sort of like my D.

But yeah, I've said it to a couple of you in person, and I'll say it here as well: Comics are fucking GREAT. I love them. GH and I have had some awesome discussions about the medium.

I'm also a real human being as well, and I consider a bunch of you regulars friends; but comics can only stretch a friendship so thin.

A lot of you are awesome. I'll probably end up meeting some of you in real life. I travel, I do comic con and all that shit...so there has to be something other than comics to talk about. If we're sitting there shooting the shit, and someone busts out some shit about their favorite colorist or whatever...I'm gonna give you the weirdest fucking look.

It's about more than comics peeps. It's about you.

I hope to meet some of you guys someday, I just gotta find some local friends/family willing to go to a con far away with me.

I totally agree with everything you said by the way, and I love Velvet too, there's lots of us! :p

I think the publisher specific threads would focus more on storylines and stuff while the main OT is still functioning could work. Hypothetically.

Exactly, this thread will still function exactly as is. The only thing that would change is on Wednesdays when people come in here and give their impressions of a book they bought that day, it would be put in the respective community thread. We will still do list in this thread, we would still debate news and everything. But I want to enter a thread and talk and theorize with like minded people about the books I read as they come out. Some people don't read their books on Wednesdays either and by the time they get to reading them, it's old news and they don't even bother. Grand Harrier reads his books days after they come out and post his impressions and they just get overlooked. It's like he talking to the void because he didn't get to talk about it when everybody else did and now we're on X subject. I read my books probably before most and my discussions get caught in the void. Tim rarely post his impressions of books he read any more and I value what he likes. Tim and I have had more meaningful conversation on Twitter than ever in this thread. I just want more focus.

Kipp

but I am taking tiny steps forward
I come here to see Kipps drawings and his passion for saving money. I am rooting for him to get his first job as a zoo keeper so he can continue to not buy any books.

Hahaha
And this is exactly why I love this thread.

I think in the end we can all come together and agree this is Kipp's fault.

I think this whole issue would be solved if there was a separate COMICS! |OT| and a COMICS! (with no Kipp) |OT|

He's saving the animals by not buying books, because they come from the rainforest or something.

Seriously, Korupt, you are good people, like all the regulars here. I love seeing your statues and stuff even though I am broke at the best of times (I used to have a big action figure collection, but most of it is gone now, time and other hobbies took precendence).

Tone's a hard thing to put across on the net. I'm pretty sure all the posts about Book of the Month voting are just funsies (maybe not, Comics: Serious Fucking Business).

The only book that needs an OT is Walking Dead, because it honestly has no place in ComicGAF. It's the equivalent of a soap oprah and has an aggressive marketing campaign and a whole lot of unnecessary shit that non fans would find annoying. It's somewhere that I and others could go to talk about the latest issue, catch up, and make sense of the gigantic main and secondary character list.

Why turn this into a Civil War

or Wolvie+Xmen vs Scott &X-Men, AvX or JLUvsJLA.

let's keep the love in.

Lashley

Why does he wear the mask!?
Hell no, even when 90% of my Comics are Marvel books, I dont want another shitty reason for your laughable and childish Comicbookfanboywars o_O

Oh god, what is happening, domt split up :( ComicGAF is best GAF, dont change how it works :(

Separate marvel and DC OT threads? Hell no. Get out of here with this nonsense. I already hate the non official OT comic threads that seem created more for MCU interest than anything. Plus it's very myopic since we have a very healthy and well rounded collection of posters, comic interests from all companies.

It's ignorant enough to again reduce comics to the big two when I'd say a good third of discussions in this thread are indie/image related.

This place works unlike almost any other comic book forum I've experienced because it's not echo chambers of similar experiences. It challenges peoples tastes and peoples enthusiasm fuels people to expand their comic tastes and interests

The only time I have seen something similar was early 2000 ign forums where I was a mod. And as a side note the other mod there Arune I became threads with and he went on to become a Marvel Exec!

Maybe the problem is nobody wants to talk about Future's End or whatever gimmick DC is doing this month.
There's nothing wrong with making a specific thread about a comic topic. That's what GAF does now. In this case, make a Future's End thread.

Got something specific to talk about like a character, event, announcement or whatever? Make a thread about it. Those interested in that specific topic can talk about it. I don't like the idea of splitting up the general comic thread. There's more to comics than DC or Marvel.

Ok, I respect what everyone has to say and looks like I am wrong. It's also looks like this is not the place for me then.

Now you're being melodramatic. I certainly don't want you to leave the thread. I just don't want to have to discuss comics across multiple threads. ComicsGAF is efficient as is.

Perfection.

Is Nocenti writting the Messi Tie-In?

I think the important thing to realize is that Marvel has been taking advantage of films as a new platform to reach people, and DC has yet to do that outside of Batman. That's why Marvel gets so much attention outside of just comic fans. When DC movies start hitting theaters, we'll see how it turns out.

Yup. Just like DC reached people with their TV output. Especially their excellent CW shows

If people post in a DC Community Thread they should lose the right to vote in the Comics-GAF thread.

I'm solving problems one at a time.

I think it's a good idea to have a separate thread for events if people want to realllllly go over them. But having a separate thread for DC by and large is silly.

Chaos reigns? ComicGAF about to self-implode on itself? well well. let the games begin.

I don't know why we picked Civil War as the event. It's more like Battle of The Atom. There's been a shit ton of build up and it's going to go nowhere.

I just don't think it is reasonable to expect that come Wednesday we would all go to separate company topics to discuss our new issues from that company and then come here to talk about news ect. As for when people read their comics. The same would happen there of GH reads his issues after everyone else the conversation would likely have moved on already. If not then the thread would get buried by how fast OT moves.

Also if we split into separate company threads right away mods will sense an issue and come here and relegate us to the community section where we will become more insular and stop getting new members (I seen this exact thing happen to futbolgaf)

I love seeing you post and would hate to see you leave. You would be a big loss to the regulars but you do what you need to do.

:(

This is truly the greatest picture I've ever seen in here. I am trying to catch my breath I am laughing so much.

Decided to reread flex metallo in anticipation of Pax Americana. Might just be morrions best work

you have chose wisely, my son. Dat last issue, tears breh. Every time.

So why aren't we in the Community OT ghetto?

Because there's a thread every month. Once Spike leaves after one too many snarky comments about his art and sillymonkey321 sells us out to the mods, its off to the ghetto of irrelevance
