Ideally you have experience of all the raid without cheesing and some experience of going through the portals as the patch has hit now. Be good to have mostly 28s or above.

Hopefully some of the guys I have raided with over the last couple of weeks fancy it.

Waylon, go to the Destiny OT (9) and look for Hawkian. Last Thursday night we did a raid for new raiders. It was at 9PM EST and we went a while, but eventually finished it.
Cool people, nice attitudes, lots of learning.

He'll likely do another this week. Not knowing your time zone I have no idea if it will work for you but the atmosphere was great.
