Blizzard announces Overwatch. Team based MP Shooter [Up: Trailers, Screens, More]

I watched the first trailer and raised an eyebrow then watched the gameplay footage and now I'm hyped. This looks like some crazy fun!

Yeah I noticed.... I noticed....

Can't wait for the sexism debate.

Honestly, the character designs we've been shown thus far have been pretty amazing. Not since UT2k4 do I remember seeing a large body type female in a competitive game. Looks/feels good man.

Blizzard and Valve are the two greatest developers of all time when it comes to pushing content post-release, so I'm definitely looking forward to this. The worst thing about getting into a game like this by any other developer is that as soon as it loses support from the devs, the population count starts to dwindle. I believe in Blizzard after seeing the amazing turnaround Diablo 3 made.

I want to point out that the setting for this game involves time stream displacement, robots that have reached enlightenment and a moon colony that has been taken over by super intelligent primates...

Sounds pretty fun to me.

Its the battle for the FPS MOBA title next year between this and Battleborn. Let the best game win

From the looks of it, this isn't any more MOBA than TF2, Dirty Bomb, or Firefall PvP. No indication of creeps, lanes, or leveling up in-game. The characters and roles are more MOBA-like, but that's not a unique feature of that genre.

Holy shit you are dense

A rebroadcasted stream is a pirated stream

It's not about him paying for the stream. It's about you paying for it and why it's against their rules for people to restream something they should be paying for if they want to watch.

The 2500 people in his stream certainly didnt pay for it.

So every game you watch on twitch and not pay for it makes you a pirate? lol

Wait..
What..
How..?

The CG Trailer was me asking myself "This is a BLIZZARD Game?!"
The Realtime gameplay Trailer was me asking myself "This isn't another CG Trailer?!"

DAT IQ. The fuck engine is this running on?

Sounds better than the Darkness.

i hope theres SP it looks like a fan universe to be in some story would be great, one of the down sides of TF2 we got these amazing videos and i always wanted a campaign

you have 4 skills and an ult on cooldowns

My BIGGEST problem with Overwatch is that the characters just don't have the same charm that TF2 characters do. That's gonna be a hard thing for me to overcome.

Eh, I'm not feeling it. Maybe I'm just feeling a bit burned out from multiplayer-based FPS's, but it doesn't look that grand to me.

Looks much more fast paste and exciting. Everyone is OP

I'm sure that will last when people are paying £10 for a character and they keep getting killed by the one with poorly thought out abilities. Blizzard have an awful record at balancing games, especially when people are probably going to try and force this as an esport.

People like the character design?

It looks incredibly generic.

Its a mixed bag I think, some look good some not so much. They go well with the overall aesthetic though. Blizzard rarely makes any truly interesting designs these days.

With regards to the game itself, it seems quite different from TF2 now that I've watched the gameplay trailer. A few of the same character types and trappings are there, but by and large it seems to take a much different approach in general. Certainly the class system isn't really there, much more MOBA style in that regard, so it should be neat as they add more characters. Looks like a very fast paced game as well which I can appreciate. I'm certainly willing to give it a look, I'm not sure how well the balance will hold up in the long term as more characters get added, but I do enjoy the big character list without having to actually play a MOBA which is not a genre I care to learn.

More TF2 than CS. The skill ceiling on games like this and tf2 are nowhere near CS's. It looks like a very fun team shooter.

It definitely reminds me of TF2, but the small team size puts me off completely. Hopefully they change their mind and allow for double that at some point.

Love the music! So is it teams can only choose 1 character per team?

I hope it's only one character per game like DOTA. Don't like in HOTS how you can have the same character on each team. Maybe even have a draft at the start. OK I am trying to make this into DOTA I'll stop.

This is large? Her waist is incredibly narrow, her face is skinny, and even covered in armor her hips are no larger than the sniper chick.

Well, at least she doesn't have a standard lithe silhouette. More Samus-esque, I guess?

Also yeah, she's not a small character. That's also neat.
