I think what really sells me on this girl is her competitive attitude. Spunk for days and gorgeous. Very marketable. This is Nintendo's chance to sweep the competitive fanbase completely under the rug like they've always wanted to and put her front and center.

Someone should introduce her to Melee.

Sorry and not to derail but calling a little girl "gorgeous" is all kinds of creepy. Back on topic good for her I hope she didn't/doesn't get too much hate from "real gamers".

Her Diddy is scary.

I'm not very good, but the last Diddy I played on 3DS absolutely destroyed me. Still gives me nightmares.

I'm disappointed in all the people trying to talk down her skill by saying shit like "they weren't pros though" "Smash is a button masher with no skill" "If a kid can beat an adult that means that the adult sucks of the game takes no skill".

Please, before making these comments either watch some of the videos or know a thing or two about Smash. Yeah, it's not the most complex competitive game out there but if you are better at the game than someone else you will body them (unless items are on then there is some luck involved sometimes). It's not "mashy" as if you mash you'll end up pretty much stuck in one place doing attacks that wont hit and giving your opponent the chance to get easy hits and throws on you.

She's legit good. Get over it.

Agree completely.

No it's not. I know it's 2014, but thinking a young girl is cute does not make you a pedophile. It also doesn't mean you like animal porn because you think a cat is gorgeous.

My four year old niece is really getting into Brawl right now so this was pretty cool to see. I'll have to show her this for a little inspiration!

Yeah no it's not.

And this is a cool story but it's not that amazing. She's 10 not 5.

Apparently most here don't deal with many 10 year olds on a daily basis. I work in a school district and many of the 10 year olds regularly outthink the teachers when it comes to tech geeky things. Why is it so hard to believe that some one in that age group took the time to genuinely master something. Not all of them are ADD, Smarties snorting wise asses.

Not to be pedantic but he didn't say cute he said gorgeous. I have no problem with cute. I'm done.

Good on her I hope she keeps kicking ass and taking names.

Uh, no?

Why should she get "hate" from anyone, exactly? In what fictional world do you live?

she's a girl who is awesome at video games.

in the very real world, the "gaming community" is rife with mra/gamergate goobers who will get really riled up at this.

People are already doing this. Just check the comments on the topic outside of GAF

ugh, woof. GAF is the only gaming forum i visit for reasons just like this.

And there's obviously chess, with a bunch of examples, most notable probably being Bobby Fisher starting to show up on the scene at age 12 and becoming a grandmaster at age 15.

no need to be a grandmaster either. the daughter of a relative of mine at a similar age, is a chess prodigy, winning tournaments nationwide against kids her age and can certainly beat lots of adults as well with ease.

Well, that throws whatever credibility esports had out the window.

But there are kids in the world who would be better than me at real sports, does that mean that sport loses all credibility now? What moronic logic.

Props to her, she can only get better and hit the big leagues.

The overwhelming majority of people have absolutely nothing against that.
Yes, even among "gamers".

Hell, I would guess you'd be hard pressed to find someone hostile toward this girl even among some the most blatant misogynists in the gaming community, because for most of them their ordinary display of misogyny is for a larger part some sort of reactionary "over-defensiveness" against what they perceive as "fem-nazis" threating their hobbies.

Or do you actually think that the average, normal, non-sociopath males hate the mere idea of any individual of female gender getting close to videogames as a hobby?

Are you a 'gamer' or just an apologist? In the misogynistic real world. What world do you live in?
I don't shy away fro define myself as a gamer (among other things) and I find the popular dislike for the term on GAF mostly ridiculous, embarrassing and poorly argumented, but beside that I'm not sure what's your point.
Apologist for what? What are you even talking about?

little girl beats a typical gamer dude at a game and the game is now a non-competitive party game in a lot of people's eyes?

you all should be ashamed of yourselves if you're thinking that way.

You were asking why she should get hate from anyone? You're right she shouldn't but she will and from your ilk. Are you saying girls who play videogames competitively don't get hate? What are YOU even talking about.

Yeah that sounds pretty sketchy

Mostly cos most of those people already thought that way beforehand lol

those weirdos chanting D1 at the start of the video. who even does that? when his opponent is a little girl no less!
