10 year old girl attends Smash Bros WiiU event. Beats several top West Coast players.

Haha props to her tho the world does not need more Diddy players lol. Not seeing exactly how this is being staged/faked.

That was fun.

A 10 year old playing makes it more exciting. Still, even with that, that was boring to watch. This is a really limited game. All those diddy games with just: 1. defense, defense, defense: mashing all kind of dodges like crazy, shielding and 2. offense was mostly: grabbs into aerials again and again and bananas. And im not talking about her. Both players were doing it, becuase the game allows you to play like that.

Sometimes kids turn out to be really good at something. It's pretty cool. There are 10 year old children that could put most practiced adults to shame in various subjects and activities, so why not video games?

I thought this kid was the chosen one.

Califorrrrrnia.

Completely unrelated to the girl's clear skill: it does sort of bum me out that this is the way high level Smash 4 is played. I would have preferred a game that rewards offense a bit more.

Damn. Little girl got mad skillz. Reminds me of a time in an arcade machine at 7-11, when I was playing Mortal Kombat 2 at 12 yrs old and made it all the way to Shao Khan. Had like 10 people around me, cheering. That Klarissa has mad skills. Hope Nintendo sends a bucket of cash to her, cuz seeing female champion Smash players kick ass, is gonna appeal to more females who will find her cute and adorable. Smash definitely appeals to all ages.

I think it's a bit too early to call this high level play. It's best to wait for the community to try it out after release for a few months/year and see where it goes.

This is the best. THE BEST! Love watching all the bodyings getting handed out.
Also comments that its staged/fake.... you people need to get GUD. let the salt flow! (not directly talking about gaf, but some of those youtube comments.. seriously?! people pls)

Holy mother of god! Shes amazing!

Kids are like sponges man, give a kid a fighting game or a FPS and some time and they'll be better than you thats for damn sure.

It's legitimately kind of sad that I read this thread from page 2 (100ppp) to here and instead of people respecting and admiring both the talent of this young player and the crowd around her who were excited as hell SEEING HER PLAY [you all don't participate in enough gaming events if you consider this heckling] there's a larger sense of disbelief in the ability of Karissa going so far as to say the event itself was staged and disingenuous to support your own inability to accept what is happening here. Equally funny/sad are those people here perpetuating the stereotype of "hurr Smash not complex/low skill ceiling/not competitive" with no idea of the basic fundamentals of fighting games in general being displayed on a near consistent basis through the two videos linked here.

Smarten up guys.

We found the real Hi-Score Girl

Haha, this is great.

Can this be the next Kayane? I really hope so! I grew up on Tekken and Soulcalibur, and sure I could beat any of my friends, but I was no where near as good as this!

Hm, you've got a point there. The game's only been out for a month. It'll be interesting to see the scene develop.

I've got a friend who's convinced this is all a publicity stunt to rev up discussion for the game. Not sure what to think. (I think she's legit) Talented kid or stunt it's got people excited and talking alright

Both sides of this thing are being a bit ridiculous, tbh.

People just love the upset narrative. Reminds me of that Gandhi thread.

There's no way this is staged. D1 being in the position he is will certainly seize the opportunity and make the most of it to help the game get exposure though.

Most of the responses have been positive. It's fun video of an excited crowd and promising young player with a spirited personality, really what's not to like.

This is awesome! I hope it's real and if it's staged that I never find out because I like the thought of her being amazing than it all being fake :P

I guess the negative responses just stuck out to me more. It just feels like lately the most negative posts in GAF threads have been really really out there sounding and with something as harmless as this it pushed one too many buttons. Sorry.

Kids really good. Would probably wreck me. As a side note I kind of would like to see shields not regenerate so fast, game doesn't seem to favor relentless offense.
