Frame Trap: A sequence of attacks designed to make the opponent think they have a good opportunity to attack, when they are actually in a poor position to attack. Almost always refers to Counterhit Setups.

You can go here for most of your fighting game terminology needs.

Wow, sound complicated.

The fuck is this? lol

Yeah some sections in that D1 video looked weird. Didn't want to start shit in this thread though, but now that this homepage of her got posted...
Also there's another comment under the video in addition to her moving while not holding the controller at 2:00 she also does this:
Around 1:13 she threw a banana in the air and perfectly caught it while looking a way from the screen.

That kind of thing is uncommon but isn't unheard of either.

Then again people love their upsets/rooting for the underdog.

Noah was 8 years old when he beat several top players in UMVC3. And he is quite skilled in other fighting games.

Kayane was around the same age when he was beating up on top players in Soul Calibur 2 which she became world champion before she was 13 at one point.

Jayce the Ace was less than 16 when he beat several top players in SFIV.

There is a very young, around 13 years old Filipino Tekken player who made it to the Global championship. There is also another young Tekken player around the same age who is also as good.

Sonic Fox is 16 years old, started earlier than that and he has won several majors in several fighting games in the last two years.

I can list more and more young competitive gaming prodigies. It isn't far fetched to see a 10 year old kid play Smash at a very high level.

Also Wawa for KOFXIII.

Whether it turns out to be completely real or not, people so desperately wanting it to be staged are incredibly pathetic.

My friend's 8 year old brother beat me in Brawl last year.

I can certainly believe it. Kids have what many adults cannot afford to use up: time.

Ah I remember the day Daigo and Wong fought each other. Guile vs Rufus. So many #staged moments. I don't recall which event but that night was a treat.

You can't stage the stuff she's pulling off in the video.

Apparently she learned that Diddy Kong just by watching other people play. That's some Mozart shit.

Her hyperadaptive intelligence will not be used to advance science, repair our economy, or invest in the future of our species.

No, none of these.

It will be invested in playing Super Smash Bros.

Exactly. It can be completely staged, but until then, if you guys are so intimidated by a 10yo being better in Smash than you are, going as far as investigating a 10yo's identity ffs, and you aren't intimidated by 14yo geniuses entering University, then you have completely wrong priorities.

Yes, how could she ever know where a banana item she threw upwards would be a split second later? clearly this is faked

/sarcasm , if it wasn't obvious.

Yeah, that moment at 2:00 was a little suspicious. She lifted her hand from the control stick while Diddy Kong was somehow rolling and dodging then jerks her hand back as if she forgot she was playing...

I don't have a problem with the existence of a 10 y/o Smash prodigy but this is looking staged at this point.

More worried for those guys.

College at 14? I could never handle it.

Yeah, why be intimidated or bothered by a kid's success at all? Why not just be happy for the kid and amused at the unexpected nature of it and leave it at that?

back in the Soul Cailibur Dreamcast days, one of the best players in the world was this little girl from France, number 1 usa guy went to Europe to play some Euro players, he lost to this little french girl.

If this girl really is playing there, she definitely plays better than i do and i'm damn proud of her. If we start being jealous of our children's success and try to negate it, then we have already lost everything.

Most likely Kayane if you're thinking of Fetz who played Cervantes.

Then again as someone who plays fighting games competitively I already have enough reminders that I'll never actually be any good as is, without adding genius kids to the mix. I know it's real but for the sake of maintaining my own motivation to keep going I'd rather not think about it too much.

All she does at 2:00 is dodge roll. She probably entered the input and removed her hand for a split second to wipe away sweat. That's nothing I haven't done.

I mean, you can definitely still roll around using just the C-stick when you shield in Smash so it's not like she was doing anything that would be impossible with one hand. Her jerking back was just a reaction to what the other player was doing. She had to itch her nose or something but then quickly needed to put her hand back to have full control over her character again, nothing out of the ordinary and I'm sure you could find a similar scene for tons of professional Smash players.

Was the little girl Kayane?

Also, keep in mind- she's had the 3DS version to practice on.

This kind of thing isn't super uncommon. After all, Hax$ was like 13-14 when he started playing and was extremely good at Melee. Let's not forget Mang0, either, who was also really good at a young age (I forget how young, might be the same range as Hax$). And then of course Kadey already mentioned other fighting games have really young players as well that are just as amazing as some of the really old players.

isn't she using a gamecube controller?

The Smash community are very good at debunking hoaxes though.

I know that's not very fair since leaks are often fake

I agree that it's a bit sad that people really want this to be fake.

those weirdos chanting D1 at the start of the video. who even does that? when his opponent is a little girl no less!
I didn't get the joke at first either. Anyways,

In Smash, when someone is losing, or at high damage, about to die, the in-game crowd starts to chant their name. Stating that they are the underdog, in trouble, and need help.

Everyone is chanting D1 saying he's in trouble, and about to lose to Karissa.
