• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

It's been exactly 2 months since Destiny launched - what are your thoughts on it?

It came with my white PS otherwise I wouldnt have gotten it. Played it for only 2 days and never touched it again.

An exceedingly boring game that does nothing new. I'd rather pay Call of Duty.

Good for the people that still enjoy it though.

I got lvl 26 with probably the worst fucking rng luck imaginable. I wasnt going to buy the game after the beta. But my friends talked me into it... Especially hate p2p multiplayer.

The rng loot is terrible beyond words. Last night I played a few rounds of clash because I fancied some multi what with halo mcc pinned to my dash that I cant touch until tuesday.

Anyway, I played 3 games, carried my team in each game with my worst performance being 25 for 9. I got one shader that I have had 5 times already. In one game the guy that finished last got an exotic auto rifle. And in another a guy got a legendary arm armour engram.

I havent done the raid because I never have enough friends online to do it. and after killing sepics prime for the 30th time. It is time to call it a day.

The biggest digital purchase mistake ever.

75 hours in, really enjoyed it for what it is, shooting and moving feels amazing, art design is great

Story was lame, but i think it was kept in the background because they knew the missions would need to be played over and over, so held back on throwing them full of cinematics

No that that excuses the lack of mission variety, it's a good game, but it's flawed in so many ways, and it's nothing like Halo which i think disappointed a lot of people

I doubt i'll get to 100 hours, starting to fatigue a little, but it's held my attention for a lot longer than i thought

Just grabbed it the other day actually, £25 on the amazon marketplace. Think I'm going to enjoy it knowing exactly what it is 2 months down the line, rather than if I'd bought it full price expecting some of the descriptions Bungie had been using in the lead up.

Still playing.

I bought Sunset, I bought COD, and I found myself only playing them once I've done what needs doing in Destiny. I have genuinely been looking forward to playing a bit of Sunset, but feel obliged to complete some bounties or the daily mission.

I have issues.

I played destiny rather intensively for a bit over a month. But after just a few days of not playing it, my motivation for it flatlined. I won't buy the DLC. I'm not even sure I'll play it again.

I had an idea of this epic sci-fi game. With interesting planets and atmosphere. A compelling story. Lots of customizing.

It was nothing like that. At all.

The basic gameplay was good, so I really want to hope for Destiny 2.

Still playing it regulary with many friends who love to play games more of hanging in community boards.

Strage people them, I tell you.

I got it for my ps3, played for about a month on and off and then traded it in, there's little of interest once the novelty of grinding for the next bit of shiny loot wears off.

I have criticized borderlands for being shallow before, but it now looks positively brimming with depth when compared to Destiny.

Horrible story, terrible design decisions for the social elements of an MMO, minimal content (I don't count going to the same areas WITH A TWIST as new content like the weekly crap) and very average PVP that the gear system fucks with.

I would probably rank it as the worst full price purchase I made this year, despite FIFA nipping at its heels.

Played it and had a blast with friends for a good while.. then, got bored with it. Too much of the same.
I bought the season pass, so I'm kind of stuck with it for now...
Waiting for that DLC. Won't touch it 'til it comes out.

Hate the crucible, feels really unbalanced.
Coop is a blast with friends.

I love it still. I play it every day with my group. Weekly raids are now a thing we're doing. And then when we're really bored or just don't feel like doing anything else, we just in crucible for some control or clash.

It's really weird too. I hate repetitive games that offer little end-game rewards. But maybe the gameplay is just that satisfying that I've had fun with it. Every complaint that people have with this game, I can pretty much stand with them on. Cut content is shady. Broken promises. Minimum content (mainly loot). Expensive DLC. I really can't explain why I'm just letting this game slide on such issues that I strongly disagree with.

But overall, I guess I've just had fun going through the game over and over. The co-op experience is just a lot of fun. For the past 2 months, I really haven'y played much outside of a few Nintendo games. I was dying to play through The Evil Within for over a year and I'm only on chapter 7 since owning it day one. Even when I went to Target yesterday to get some gaming deals, it didn't feel exciting. I bought my dad a copy of Diablo 3 to play with me. We played through a mission, went back to Destiny.

I'm hoping the first DLC, as limited as it looks, is more packed than we're thinking. I'm getting to a point at this time where I'm feeling some burnout. It might be because Super Smash/GTA V is right around the corner. But I don't think I'll permanently put it down. It's a 7/10 game that I love a whole bunch.

Had fun with it for a while but stopped playing probably two weeks ago. No real desire to go back.

Can't be bothered with effort to attempt VOG and can't be bothered playing same missions anymore.

Found it enjoyable but oddly average apart from the rather nice art direction and I did like it's fantasy version of planets in solar sysyem.

I've put over 300 hours into it: it is broken, boring, repititive, and I don't believe bungie has a clue on what they are doing. It has shaken my love of bungie, and I no longer believe they can make games of Halo's caliber anymore.

I've played it nonstop everyday since launch day. I've never been one for FPS or even online FPS but somehow I'm able to enjoy the crucible and redo the story mission over and over again. the gunplay feels really awesome to me and the loot mechanic of course work with my obsessive side. and the promise of future content and further character progression keeps me playing.

Can´t stop shaking my head over these post.

"Put over 300 hours into it - so boring"

Got 3 characters levelled to 29....Got most legendary and exotic guns.

Completed Raid normal and hard multiple times, got perfect raider trophy.

Still not been given ANY RAID ARMOUR.

So had enough, playing other games, nothing to do other than keep playing raid hoping for a roll of dice...

They should of given raid armour for someone who completed all bosses in a raid in a week (could of been a random piece...

Its just too random. Also cant bear to play vanguard strikes anymore, I almost know where every enemy spawns, how many, what type....its too repetitive.

Enjoyed it while it lasted. They need more variation for extended play beyond 1 month, even in spawn points, enemies (need more). It becomes too predictable for seasoned players.

its been out for two months?
well, I havent played it in over one month.

I have bought it digitally, and also have bought all dlc available to it,
so therefore I presume that at some point I will re-visit the traveler.

hopefully my next trip will be better

got perfect raider trophy.

Legit or seeing off Atheon after a reload? Someone told me a team of 6 could jump in to an Atheon save, kill him and have it pop. Seems sketchy though.

Still not been given ANY RAID ARMOUR.

That's the biggest problem. RNG for everything is a huge oversight and the crutch that keeps some poor guys playing in spite of the game, not for the fun of it. Thing is it's not an oversight at all, it's the very core game mechanic at the heart of everything. It's cynical, cheap and... I should stop here.

It was okay for the first few weeks where it was the only me and my friends would play. The graphics were pretty but nothing amazed me. The story is not there and I won't read up on its lore on the bungie website. The gunplay is good, but I generally don't enjoy shooters all that much.

The amount of money it was poured into it though seriously is embarrassing for the amount of stuff that was undelivered.

Somehow I'm having a blast with Advanced Warfare and I think it totally beats Destiny.

Game of the year for me. Absolutely love it and still playing 2 months later. Actually nearly logged in every day too. It's been a blast both on my own and playing with friends. Looking forward to more content and the changes being made. It's not perfect and u recognise it's flaws but beyond those it's still high enjoyable and a great game.

How did you get the perfect raid trophy? Before the patch with Athlon?

I've played 300+ hours in Destiny. Got a lvl 30 Titan and a 29 Hunter. Destiny will keep me playing as long there is some progress to obtain.

GOTY peoples - GOTY!

Legit, on normal though. All lvl 29 / 30 strong players - under 40 minutes.

Don't / didn't think you can cheese perfect raider ?

Also the crucible 30 FPS is a issue, you cant play such a fast paced multiplayer game at 30 fps its annoyng

After a month long break during which I tried to sell my Ghost edition, I returned to it, got hooked and play it too much for the past two to three weeks. I just wish the campaign would have been better - the lackluster and downright lazy performance in that department has soured the game for so many people and almost had me give up on it.
What they could and need to fix in the current game - more matchmaking for people who don't have a set group of friends to play with.

2 months later, the only thing they patch is nerf on weapons and nerf on cheese in the last boss of the raid that 5% of players actually did.

Meanwhile, the week one promises of budding Bad Juju, Thorn, the adress of the too small deposit box, no in orbit safe deposit for equipement sharing with our own characters, tons of bugs in raid (enemies elite disapearing and reapearing with full life or behind you, various teleportation bug or oracle not registering being killed etc...) never...

We got a month worth of " events " that were amateurly dealth with. None worked properly and none mattered in the end.

Last weekly update ? They promoted the new zone we'll see in the DLC, guess what, you can no clip into ALL of these already with your disc.

Adress the elephant in the room Bungie.

It is my GotY.

Score of the game is not even fair from most reviewers.

A game like Shadow of the Mordor is AC/Batman rip-off with only 2 big map and super repititive gameplay and it get higher score than Destiny.

Advanced Warfare multiplayer mode give big middle finger to non-US gamers and co-op mode is a lot more boring than Destiny but it also get higher score. (Single player mode is medicore)

Played for 50 hours, don't regret my purchase as it's a great game, but I won't continue to support the franchise.

Bungie's relation with the players is horrible. They keep making these "funny" posts in their blog, without ever talking about the game's problems and things that need to change or to be fixed. Instead, they keep removing things that players find in the game, to narrow your options to what they intended as the way you should clear the content.

No free content, everything will be expanded with expensive DLC that don't even add that much content. I prefer to pay my monthly fee in FFXIV and continue to receive the amazing support we get in the game.

Stuck at lvl 24 with zero desire to progress. The end game stuff is aimless to me without an objective and its just raids which im not keen on in most mmos I like crucible and do well at that but the game modes are sparse. Just waiting on gta & dragon age so I csn sell it.

If this is really what bungie wanted its a waste of potential for what a game like this could be. Something the next mass effect might nail.

Bought it expecting it to be my next main multiplayer fps but the Crucible is so barebones that I just bought Advanced Warfare and never looked back.

The single-player portion is just a skinner box with slim content that is designed to hook you in with the promise of more loot and it's a waste of time.

The core gameplay is very solid but apart from that it's just a way to get people addicted without enough content to sustain people beyond that.

You can tell it really burns a lot of the people in here that, over in community side, the OTs just keep rolling at a historic rate.

Kinda messes with their "THIS POS IS A FAILURE, EVERYONE TRADED IT IN!!" narrative.

I don't know what the fuck they were thinking by releasing it. Either Bungie is clueless or their company is unstable to the point of this being the result. Shooting mechanics, the raid and art are probably the only good things about the game. It's really gotten to the point that 343 Halo 4 is the better game. That's terrifying.

I enjoyed it for a couple of weeks but after doing the same missions every week and hearing the price and content of the dlc I knew I could no longer support the title

only reason i didn't get refund for it is because my friends are playing and i join them from time to time.

It will be forgotten once MCC hits.

To time consuming sadly for me to continue playing it, hours wasted every day on the same routine to finish dailies and grind for pure RNG drops that I remembered why I stopped playing WoW.

I do not how can't I get boring killing orcs and dogs all the game.

How many enemy types are there in destiny? and how many different maps? The entire game is built on the concept of repetition, of grinding the same enemies on the same maps for loot.

And at the same time, it seems it must really burn you that the game isn't universally loved. Seeing as every Destiny thread has you popping into them and immediately be in Destiny defensive mode.
