For optional stuff sure, not so much when the game has 4 objectives and the latter two you do become stupidly easy. But this game isn't structured like DAO.

I'll just come out and say it... I have zero sympathy for people who buy video games when they don't have internet access. (*not* counting military out in the field)

I'll leave it at that.

I don't know anyone who doesn't have their consoles connected to the internet 24/7. This is 2014.

None of my consoles, outside of PS4 which I recently connected for a update, are connected to the internet.

Yeah that article makes me want to reconsider not using him much. Dangit, what class is my inquisitor going to be now.

I don't really agree. Its not fun to steamroll through a dungeon because you arrived overleveled later on. Also means loot you find will tend to be meant for lower levelled players, too, reducing incentive and satisfaction.

Agree with you. I don't see the point in going back to a dungeon when you're way over-leveled, I think it's a waste of time and I don't get much fun out of that.
 
These are looking very positive and I'm sure this game would scratch an itch I have (well just the fact it is a good game that's on PS4 is practically enough), but kotaku says it isn't newcomer friendly. Hasn't anyone made a nice movie-length catch-up video I can watch? I don't really have access to anything that can play the older games right now even if I wanted to.

Exactly. I adore DA:O and I am currently playing through DA2. I only have the ending and one DLC left to play and I don't hate it but it's nothing close to Origins. If I just play it "casually", focus on the characters instead of the plot and so on, it's pretty fun. Some of the dialogue (from Hawke/companions/DA:O cameos mostly) is awesome.
But as soon as I start thinking more about it I just get tired from all the faults it has. And I should say that reused locations don't bother me as much as it seems to do other people. :P

Mass Effect was basically the same. Adored ME1, only ran through ME2 once and disliked most of ME3. Hrm. Don't really trust reviews of these games at all.

I'm glad I can get my money back if I don't like DA:I. That money back thing is the best thing EA has done lately :D

Though I had DA:I on preorder for awhile and wasn't likely to cancel it barring some heinous impressions, I really have to tip my hat to Kotaku (and Mr. Hamilton) here for putting together a great "better-than-a-review" effort. It was a great way to segment the different things the writer wanted to highlight and make it easy for people to scan for the things that matter most to them.

I hate juggling multiple games so I need to hurry up and finish the two I'm playing by this weekend so I can devote my full attention to this beauty. Hype!
 
Wow. Good reviews. That's what I was hoping for.

Wish we could've gotten a review copy to get impressions up this early. Ah well. I'll spend some money next week.

Why I loved Morrowind so much. Go to some old temple, and get stomped by a level 18 Golden Saint, later on, Golden Saints are childs play, because the Nerevarine is a fricken god. I loved stomping through the game overleveled to hell lol.

I'm only talking about playing the single player campaign.

It's great when you get your arse handed to you and are forced to leave a dungeon to level up and go back. I love it.

Yes. Just keep in mind that the Champion of Kirkwall, Hawke is a badass dude/dudette and the whole Mage Templar thing is his/her fault (kinda... not really)

This is the Dragon Age Keep, it works both as a small recap of events and to set decisions from previous games, I recommend you give it a try only after you've done some reading about them and have more of a general idea of things. You can either choose to alter things or leave the default world state that BioWare provides, it's up to you.

Edit- You need an Origin account for this, just so you know. You're probably going to want to use it if you're getting Inquisition though so better get familiar with it now.

I agree 100%. It's almost 2015. If you don't have Internet, you have no business buying a modern video game console.

Man Female Dwarf looks pretty awesome. Not too child like (FFXI FFXIV or the thing in Tera) and not too overly cute and expressive in the "look at me, I'm so short and cute! Hiiiiiiii (does bunny dance)."
