Dragon Age: Inquisition Review Thread

For people who say reviews don't matter- I canceled my unity pre order and am planning the budget go towards this. All because of reviews and specifically review timing.

Man xb1 or ps4 I need to know which to get it on. Given acu debacle I'm not sure which console to get it on.

The ACU debacle is the exception rather than the norm. We already know the PS4 version is 1080p and the XB1 version is 900p. I'm sure performance will be very similar considering that's how it is on the vast majority of multiplatform games.

If you're just talking about visuals:

Is there any music from the original DAO in the game? I'm going through the ost on youtube again and man, it was so damn good.

Spoiler tag just in case.

Gamespot: "Combat requires relatively little strategy." Well that was apparent from watching all the gameplay videos up until now. Oh well, hopefully still worth playing and not too meatheaded.

I read that too. Setting the difficulty to maximum would kinda solve it, I guess.

So I read somewhere that the PS4 version if basically equivalent to high on PC. If that's the case, I think I'll be going with PS4. I'd rather not play a 90 hour RPG at my desk, and I think with my specs I'd probably get about the same preformance.

Can't wait for this, I've needed an RPG like this all year!

I play my PC games on my couch with a gamepad (unless the game doesn't support), so I don't see the problem there.

Ah, well my PC is set up at a desk and the way the rest of my stuff (like my TV and consoles) is set up it would be a pain in the ass to move stuff around. I guess I could, but it wouldn't be ideal at all.

That nitpick annoyed me, considering he didn't try it on nightmare or even hard. In the Angry Joe preview, he got destroyed in the tutorial forcing him to tactical mode. Seems like the challenge is there if you want it.

Can we confirm this, please?

I am not understanding if hard is just superficially difficult, or if it forces you to just use the tactical mode, which would be great.

For example, I dont want to play a painfully difficult game if it just means that enemies do the typical higher damage and all that, but I would like a more difficult game that forces me to rely somewhat on some tactics/tactical mode.

I've never played a Dragon Age game and didn't even know this was about to be released until yesterday. I now want to play this game SO BAD. I've yet to see a single trailer, a single gameplay video, even a single image of this game in action. I know nothing about anything even remotely related to this game, which is good, because if it's as good as the scores say, I'm in for a treat. I can't wait.

I doubt the AI routines are better, but it just forces you to micromanage to make sure your positioning and abilities are used to the max. Search YouTube for the Angry Joe preview. He uses it towards the end of the tutorial when he fights an ogre. On iPad or would link.

That armor looks amazing.
yeah what the hell, is this Fashion Souls?

Angry Joe on Nightmare

But I'll be honest, if you're a tactical purist and want more Divinity/Wasteland2, you may not be satisfied.

Thanks! :)

Actually, that's fine as well. Just being difficult enough to force the tactical mode sounds nice.

Also, do we know if there is a day one patch or a patch in the works to deal with the general bugs that some reviewers are noting? I imagine some of them will get fixed, and I don't imagine it to be too huge of an issue, but hopefully the experience is smooth. I read some particular criticisms about the tactical camera in some areas, so Im hoping that's ironed out

I'm hoping PS4 is also locked 30 FPS

I've read the same thing about the new AC.
I will wait and see Digital Foundry test :)

Just warning you that DA:I has the same open world wheel system like AC in case you didn't like it.

Killed the final dragon. Really difficult. This is how I end the game. I did everything there is.

Wow, endgame is at level 23, didn't expect that. I just remember that low levels are common in western RPGs.

That armor though. I hope it looks better on a female character.

It seems that your posts about DA:I are always have that negative vibe. It's nothing wrong to be realistic, though.

Actually, I think there is a tiny amount of level scaling. The roaming red templars are always the same as my level. I just encountered another group and they were level 23. Pretty sure they scale to my level.
