I'd be very interestered in more opinions on that.
is the pc version harder again?

is the game even tactical? the lack of dedicated healing seems to turn it into a fantasy mass effect.

have a gamepad for my pc so it doesnt really matter to me, I'd gladly hook it up on my tv and play this game with the gamepad on the tv. but I'd prefer an actually tactical game.

so how difficult/tactical is it?

People playing it on normal say tacticla cam is rarley needed. So I'm afraid. I'm hoping the game is also balanced well in higher difficulties and provides adequate challenge and well designed combat setpieces.

Otherwise combat is going to get mighty boring mighty quickly for me.

No healing but also no regenerating health. You can't just run around bashing skulls because you need to make sure a fight doesn't get out of control, otherwise you might start to lose health. Then you'd have to use one of your limited health potions. There are definitely more tactical games, and maybe I'll be proven wrong once we play it, but it's certainly not a fantasy Mass Effect

Short questions about the early access program for DA:I.
When I preload the game now by preordering, will that preload be used for the early access? What about Achievements during the 6 hours of early access - will they be unlocked immediately?

I don't have an XBO, but I would assume that the achievements will unlock but they might not sync to your online profile, depending on whether MS have updated their servers or not (had this issue with PSN in the past).

Casual = Full real-time gameplay
Normal = Mixture of the two, real-time can still be used a lot
Hard = Tactical view >>> real-time
Nightmare = Tactical view is a must

I never played a DA game but Jade Empire and KOTOR 1&2. All 3 on normal difficulty. On what level should I play DA:I?

I'm going to play on casual/easy. I know. But I'm not very good when it comes to tactics and I'd rather enjoy the environments/story. Sue me.

No hard cap? Huh, that's interesting. But I assume you stop gaining skill points at one point.

I think it's more that you stop gaining experience. I believe the experience you get tapers off the higher level you are relative to enemies, so eventually you'll be getting either minimal or no experience points at all.

I guess kinda like Suikoden, where you basically hit max level at around 50-60 and it was almost impossible to get higher.

Any reviews mention PS4/Vita Remote Play?

Not that I've seen, but the devs have stated that the game works with remote play.

Yeah I noticed that lately that I'm not really into playing a game for being challenging. (outside of racing games) I'm getting old, huh? :D

Think this is going to be first 'Dragon Age' game I buy. Looks far too good to miss out. My PS4 is going to be very busy over the coming months with the amount of good games coming out :)

I'm gonna do the same. Didn't really enjoy the combat in DA:O actually so it's been easy/casual through the whole series. I play RPGs for exploration and story mostly so.

I hope hope hope this sells more than unity.

I do too, but it seems unlikely. AC has a much bigger marketing campaign whereas DA:I really doesn't. While individuals who keep up with things on GAF might switch from one to the other, a lot of people in the real world probably won't even know DA:I exists.

Ooh I see. Thanks for clarifying. :)

well after reading this thread, especially Eurogamer and Gamespot reviews, I just got my one-way ticket for the DA:I...

Choo-Choo~

I've got one question to those (EU) that have purchased in US psn via the Amazon trick or else. If you download the game and can play on your main user (using the "setting as primary ps4" thing), will you still be able to change the language of the game into one of the european languages?

e.g. I buy DA:I in US psn, switch to my normal user and with my system language set to german I would be able to play it in german?

In anticipation for Inquisition I'm actually trying to do a fast playthrough of the series based only on the choices presented in the Keep, just to refresh my memory. You can skip lot of stuff, especially in DA II. I might be able to finish it before Inquisition releases.

I'm all for a thread for newcomers/lore questions/people who are replaying the series. It was suggested a couple pages ago, it's a great idea.

Add into the fact that the previous DA Gane wad meh.

I'm assuming not, but has there been any word on local Co op?

Tis out, I am afraid. Online only.

Yeah, Ironically Dragon Age doesn't quite live up to its name since dragons are so fucking sparse in each and every game, and the stories are never about them. Meh.

Origins had 2-3 big ones and a bunch of small ones. DA2 had, like 1 big one and 2 not quite so big ones. They've never been that major, though. DA:I seems to have far more, though.

Really, the title is just there to tell the audience: "This is a high fantasy game with dragons and associated fantasy creatures in."

Spoilers: The Archdemon was a Dragon.

Also, canonically the ages are named after a significant event. In this case it was the return of large numbers of Dragons to the lands if I recall correctly.

Is real time still reasonably viable on hard? I would like to fight myself at least a bit between tactical views.

Can anyone recommend some good recap videos (or articles, but videos would be better!) of the DA:O and DA2 stories in order to feel properly prepped for DA:I when it arrives at my door? If such a thing exists?

Full honesty here: loved DA:O but I'm one of those who couldn't get into DA2, but I feel like I need a rundown of its events so I can go into DA:I without feeling like I skipped much.
