“During its first 24 hours on sale, blew all forecasts and predictions out of the water. The award-winning Strategy RPG, originally released in 2008 for PlayStation 3, forced its way to the top of the Steam download charts, beating a host of brand new games to reach number one,” Sega said.

Sega Europe’s senior VP of commercial publishing John Clark added: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the fans for their support in the phenomenal success of this launch. We’re also delighted at the response from the Steam community which indicates that newcomers to the series are finding it as enchanting and engaging as those who have played it before.”

No concrete sales figures, but very encouraging!

It is my first time playing it and I am copmletely enthralled. I hope this helps SEGA understand that Vanquish needs to be on steam.

I played this for the first time last night and got completely sucked in for a couple hours. Game is fantastic. I was legit shocked when I stopped playing and checked the top sellers list to see if it charted and saw it at the top.

Doubt anyone at Sega thought it would outsell COD at launch.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
SEGA, so VC4 on PS4, XBONE and PC right? Of course, the demo comes with VC2/3 HD collection. ;)
This, or Skies of Arcadia 2, would make my life complete.

It's happening! I really hope for vanquish and Bayonetta as well. This is how it's supposed to work guys with supply and demand.

Yakuza next, all leading to the glorious ressurection of the series in the west, and the arrival of the games we've missed on PS3 and PS4.

Seriously, make this a thing.

I hope SEGA will think about doing other ports after this positive experience.

I have a lot of money that's waiting to get grabbed over things like that.

Awesome news!
Let's hope SEGA decides to port more games now, in various genres (Vanquish, Virtua Fighter, Resonance of Fate, etc).

To get to number one it was charting over some pretty big games too, on a revenue basis no less.

Oh really? I thought it was a unit basis with how many times I see something cheap up there, but that really is something given it's a cut-price release.

hopefully we see Yakuza pc ports and they will get localised

Can't believe I had to scroll down this far to find the correct answer for "what's next".

Which games made up the rest of the top ten?

It's no longer #1, but Football Manager, Call of Duty: Advance Warfare, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Assassin's Creed: Unity, Isaac, Just Cause (sale), Enslaved (sale), and Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

The game is truly enjoyable, so I encourage anyone reading this to give it a shot.

Time for Miku on Steam though!? Sega Japan pls

Great to see Valkyria Chronicles expanded to a whole new audience and a success to boot.

pl0x Sega port more VC games (including the 3rd one) or at least port some of your other games.

It works on revenue, not by number of copies sold?

Wow, that's even more impressive.

Yeah, this is why you sometimes see things like the Arch Age $120 pack.

VC seems like a damn good fit for a PC audience which:

1. Loves turn based strategy games
and
2. Wants more JRPGs than it gets.
