Sega very happy with Valkyria Chronicles' Steam launch

This.

I know a lot of people want Sega's more niche games, like the Yakuza series, but I am not sure how well those would translate into sales. It's not as though PC is lacking in open world adventure games with RPG elements, and it's not like everything on the Steam is an instant success.

Resonance of Fate would probably make sense though. It's already been localized.
Vanquish at least would make sense. Mouse keyboard would be insane for that game.

You mean if you release a game on a platform that people own and actually buy games for then it'll sell? Holy shit.

Amazing. Now please, the rest of the series and Platinum's catalogue. I would double-dip Vanquish easily just for the chance to have that chaos at 60 fps.

Holy shit, imagine a Vanquish COOP Multiplayer.

Great news. I'm glad I finally got a chance to play this game as I've heard so much about it. Would also be very interested in Vanquish, Bayonetta and Resonance of Fate, as others in this thread.

As a side note, the artstyle of Valkyria Chronicles has also made me wonder what Asura's Wrath would look like on pc... a man can dream.

I think the big question is, does anything else use the CANVAS engine? That would make the most sense since the groundwork is there. I don't think anything else did though, unless someone can correct me.

I put 300 hours into the game, and only stopped because I got the Platinum Trophy and 1000/1000 Gamerscore on it. Even though I do not care about achievements, when you 100% them in a PS3/360 game, I always stop playing a game for whatever reason.

But I care so little about Steam achievements, and I care more about the Playtime. So I'd probably play through all 10 difficulties and do so much fucking around that I'd end up with probably over 1000 hours in the PC version.

Isn't the big thing about the PS3 version of VC people like to voice their opinion Bout is the lack of trophies?

It would make sense. This is Sega though. "Hey VC sold well, lets break out our old library and re-release....

GENESIS COLLECTION MEGAHITS 3 - Now with Sonic 1, Altered Beast AND Shinobi: Once more with Feeling!

Dragon's Dogma

They'll probably turn round and say they binned the original assests an hour after they finished it

Surprise you make a good PC port of a great game and people buy it. More VC would be awesome. HD releases of 2/3 and a new game would be beyond amazing.

Good. I'm glad Sega found success with this game on PC. Now bring VC2 and VC3 to PC. And Skies of Arcadia. And Shenmue I & II.

I will buy them all.

They're going to make us buy Sonic Boom, aren't they?

You can already play Skies Of Arcadia in 1080p with controller support on PC easily enough.

Not really. Bugs and glitches. Plus slower computers couldn't run that game, since its on an emulator. Also, trying to find a copy now can be expensive. Like $80 for a used copy.

So glad this is getting such recognition from PC users. Sega must be preparing further ports right this instant.

This just goes to show that you shouldn't be leaving money on the table. Anything that's not a first-party exclusive should be on PC, if not at launch then at least in the same year. Not 6 years later. Double dipping for sure though.

Hopefully SEGA understands to take the time and polish the games they put on Steam for a PC-optimized release.

I have to check the OT to see the details on it, but I'm assuming that it's running good since they spent a fair bit of time working on the port.
It runs ridiculously good. 4k/60fps with a midrange PC easy peasy.

Honestly, if toasters had harddrives, I'm pretty sure it would run this.

Skies was a game that ran really well with Dolphin. I never had a big problem with it on my replay.

But yeah, if you want 1080p, 60fps skies, your computer is going to have be a real beast.

I'd like them to have at least 1 game released every month. A $20 game each month won't burn out a consumer much I think.

It's such a great game, and really fits well on the PC landscape. Glad to see it have the success it deserves on Steam.

You know what else does well on Steam? Free to play games. Multiplayer games. Games that rhyme with Schmantasy Star Schmonline two.

edit: Okay, yeah. Vanquish too. Forgot Sega published that for a moment there.

If this was the Christian Whitehead port of Sonic 1 and the 3D ports of Altered Beast, I'd buy that shit in a heart beat.
