Sonic Boom Boom: Review thread

Not that there was ever any doubt, but it seems i'll just wait for that Sonic Team game and won't even bother watching videos of this one.
Shame for Sonic, and bloody shame for what has become of the publisher with some of the best first party studios and some of the most ambitious games in history.

Great gif cuting on that jump restart-pause glitch

Sega don't care about those bad reviews, since you know, forcing them to buy copies those are 3 extra copies that wouldn't have been sold otherwise.

Worth

Based on the demo, the game was fine, just totally Unremarkable. Maybe the game gets worse later on?
Probably once more reviews comes out some 6's will be given. It will average high 50/low 60 I bet.

I do not expect the Wii U version to get any more than a 50 though.

It's probably due to the Wii U version being shit... I don't think it deserves to be slammed(unless it gets worse later on, of cours), especially considering how well received the Dimps' POS were in comparison

I think so. I mean the biggest problem is that it was very short and the story sucks. At least it had a sense of speed at times. Reviewers are odd because they gave Episode 1 an average of 7.
Also Fantasy Life got lots of 6/10 and it is my 3DS GOTY so far.

I would give Shattered Crystal a 6/10 myself.

Of course this is terrible. Laugh it up everyone and get it out of your system while this side game us relevant for the time being.

Looking forward to the REAL sonic game in the next year or so.

Shocked that the game seems to be getting as high scores as it is tbh, looks like it deserves no more than a 3/10 at most.

If I were Nintendo I'd feel tempted to sue Sega for breach of contract. This exclusive Sonic games thing has been a joke
obviously not being serious as they have delivered the games but man, even I didn't think they would be of such poor quality

I don't understand why they can't make a good 3d sonic game. Give the tools to the fans and let them make it.

I don't think SEGA nor the fans have any idea how to translate the speed gimmick of the 2d games to 3d. I played the Wii games which are considered good, and they felt like on autopilot.

I don't really get the problem. I thought Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 were good and going in the right direction. 2 holds up a whole lot better but still. Heroes felt like a cheaper effort and people scoffed at Shadow and his tude so I guess Sega didn't know where to go. If 06 hadn't been rushed to release it probably would have been the Adventure 3 a lot of people wanted. Too bad it became the nail in the coffin for the Sonic is dead perception that plagues the series now. I haven't played Gen or Colors yet so I can't comment on what those did wrong or right.

So Sonic Colours and the absolutely non-traditional Sonic & the Secret Rings? I cannot understand how one can think Colours seems to be on autopilot.

Sonic Colours is really not the hardest Sonic game in existence (none of them are particularly difficult, except for maybe Metropolis Zone in S2 and Eggmanland in Unleashed 360, which is difficult for more reasons than just glitches n' whatnot). It was a breath of fresh air at the time after all the "serious" 3D Sonic games that dealt with ancient creatures and all that bollocks, and that's exactly why people took to it as they did. It wasn't perfect, but it was a solid, fun title with a great soundtrack and some fun levels and themes.

Generations continued that good streak, and then we got Lost World which massively underperformed (and twice as much, since there was a 3DS version too), and now we have Boom.

It's really not on, and SEGA should know better by now.

he basically just pushes forward and does the homing attack sometimes (you even dont need any skills to attack because sonic targets automatically)

1. It's the first level
2. He obtained a B-Rank, still quite a way up to an S-Rank.

Let's have a look at a Sonic Unleashed level (360):

Claim it's on autopilot all you want, but try pulling off this performance and obtaining an S-Rank in this level and you will see it's just bs.

Yup. These got some lols outta me.

Holy shit... This is my favorite Stage from Unleashed, I've played this shit for years and never knew I could take that path in the beginning.... the level design is much more amazing than I gave it credit for.
