To make it clear, I was only refering to that director statement. You'd be insane to ignore the Ed Wright controversy, the Whedon popularity and the Russo discovery.

Yea my bad. the point is still the same. Disney bought Iron Man after Paramount made it a success. They set the tone for the Iron Man movies and to most people made the best one. We are better served with Marvel Studios having to dig deep to find licenses for movies.

Kinda the same, because even if IM1 was success, TIH most likely wasn't. I do agree to your final statement to some degree (if it weren't for that we wouldn't be where we are now).

Well, I've been on record as saying I've enjoyed some of their films. I'm not on the other side of the spectrum, despite what you are trying to paint. Calling me a "hater" is ridiculous. I'm calling this thread how I see it, it's pretty crap. Praising Marvel to high heavens has been getting tiresome regardless. They've made some good flicks, but they've made more mediocrity. As a whole, the universe is a cool concept that will be filled with ultimately unfulfilling films.

Last time I checked star lord was an older gruff dude who's father is J'Son king of Spartax and his mother was killed by aliens. In the movie he is a young dude wearing a trench coat, his mom died of cancer, and he's apperantly the son of some ancient celestial being oh and he has a romantic relationship with gamorah. As for the others Drax is now an alien who's children are dead, Ronan is just some Generic one off villain, the kree are enemies of the xandarians instead of the skulls, yondu is now a roughneck space pirate instead of a warrior from a noble race, and the race from planet hulk now look like turtles and work for the kree. Okayyy
