It seems obvious... but wouldn't Wells know better than to threaten right after Joe apologizes and crosses him off as a suspect? If he's had all this restraint to play his act for this long, why would he get impatient with Joe now?

...don't know how likely a misdirect is though. They just had Barry blow his secret for kicks...

Why would Wells be Zoom when he wasn't in the comics?

because comic tv show.

logic definitely doesn't apply.

Hopefully we will never hear the streak again. Barry basically saving people in a blink of an eye yet they decide on calling him the streak? At least "the vigilante" worked for Arrow.

So unless someone can do anything better, this is the best I can do with my limited GIMP knowledge:

But what if it's
Eddie
? That would make sense considering
he'd have a reason for getting close to Iris and he showed up around the time of the explosion.

Isn't this practically confirmed given his name?
or at least someone in his family we have yet to meet on the show...

Damn fine episode, but why do I get the feeling Barry showing his face will bite him in the ass? Joe was also great, mainly because he's becoming Detective Green again.

Reverse Flash. Yep.

The whole Eddie or Dr Wells thing is interesting. You have to remember there is more than 1 Reverse Flash.

There is Professor Zoom (1st Reverse Flash) and just Zoom (2nd Reverse Flash). Zoom, whose real name is Hunter Zolomon lines up with Dr Wells since Hunter's main goal was to make Flash the best Flash possible. We've seen Wells do this exact thing by killing Stagg for "Barry".

Eddie Thawn is the name of the first Reverse Flash, Professor Zoom.

Since this is a tv show and anything is possible. I'm guessing like the comics, there could end up being more than just 1 Reverse Flash.

Really enjoyed the episode and can't wait to see Barry face Reverse Flash for the 1st time.

Sonic Punches and Reverse Flash. Good times.

Question: I thought Reverse Flash was yellow, what's up with all the red at the end?

They really need to add an overarching storyline to the season (Who Killed Barry's Mom? isn't interesting enough to base the season around) - this monster of the week deal just isn't doing it for me. Arrow had some really interesting serialized elements in its first season and I was hoping The Flash would follow suit.

Also, Barry needs to reveal himself to Iris like yesterday.

Also, also, wheelchair guy is boring and a bad actor. He needs to go.

You do realize nothing ever happened in Arrow for the first 10 or so episodes, right?
Also Wells is awesome and you're wrong

I feel like "Who is Wells?" will be the big arc actually and depending on whether or not the most common theory for that turns out to be true, that could mean the Who Killed Barry's Mom doesn't actually last that long.

Also, you leave JD's brother alone!

So IMO.. regarding Zoom.

I think Eddie is the father of Wells (Eobard), who becomes Zoom and travels back in time and wants to fuck around with the Flash.

but idk maybe im wrong

But there were interesting mysteries that they teased out which kept me interested: (Arrow S1 spoils)
The shipwreck wasn't an accident! The mom was in on it! The dad was up to something! The bad guys are planning something super evil!

In The Flash, there's just the aforementioned "Who Killed Barry's Mom", and they're not really even exploring that very much yet. They're relying too heavily on the generic and incredibly dull Mutant of the Week and nothing else. I'd be fine with a more procedural first half if there was at least a semblance of a serialized arc going on in the background.

Also Wells is awesome and you're wrong

Nah.

Wait a minute. Am I seeing things or is this scene completely messed up?

He's flying through the air priming his right fist for the punch, but in the closeup the bad guy's face is actually hit with Barry's left hand.

Then in the following shot, Barry's right hand gets hurt. WTF.

Look at the direction the bully is facing prior to the impact.

It's still coming from the wrong direction. Should be coming from right to left. Something got messed up. Either the close up or the actors stance in the scene before that. I'm willing to bet it was the actors stance and they tried to fix it by mirroring the close up in post.

have to say, I really like Eddie, his pitiful Star Wars trivia notwithstanding. It'll be a shame when they inevitably turn him bad.

Got damn that was a great episode. Best episode for me, hands down. From the punch to him happy to finally defeat his old tormentor. Him running 5.3 miles was amazing, from the look of it. Finally the proper name. so good.

Someone should gif Barry's reaction after talking to Girder near the end. Perfect "Yes!" gif.
