The Game Awards Nominees being announced [Update: Revealed - In OP]

Wait, I thought Heartstone was a card game, not a video game? Isn't this like MS Solitaire being nominated?

I really have no clue, I'm not being a troll.

Hearthstone is a solid game that millions enjoy on a daily basis. I dont find it strange at all it is certainly in my top 10 of this year together with Reaper of Souls.

Best developer is really between Nintendo and Blizzard this year the rest does not even come close.

Well those were some good lists overall, reassuring.
Surprised about some choices (Dark Souls 2, Ubisoft Montréal...) and the lack of Zelda and MGS in most anticipated, but eh, still good.

Let's see the other nominations now...

I thought DS2 was supposedly disappointing, but I actually loved Bayonetta 2 despite not being a big fan of the genre and Hearthstone is probably the best mobile game ever, so the GOTY list is overall very good.

I think a lot of people put it in the category of "disappointing but only compared to its excellent predecessors."

I know I did.

There are better games that could have been on there though. Smash, Mario Kart or Sunset Overdrive.

in your opinion, sure

hell I'd even agree with you

but there's only 5 games on the list. some games are inevitably going to be left off. it's really not that big of a deal and I actually applaud the variety.

It's a digital trading card game that takes advantage of the fact that it doesn't need to reflect a physical card game. It has excellent production values, great design, and one of the best uses of F2P I've ever seen. I'm not a huge TCG fan, but there's a reason so many people are addicted.

I'd switch Shadow of Mordor in the GOTY list with Wolfenstein, personally.

Solid list overall. I like variety.

That site has been up for a week or 2 already, dunno why it's posted like it's new. Geoff said full nominees will come up on there soon. Not the site going live. There was a thread about it.

Thank you. I'd be annoyed if it was nominated and was based on a physical card game, but since it's original it's fine.

Darks Souls II and Hearthstone seem out of place on that list, and I'm surprised no Smash, no DK, and no MK8 anywhere. Pleasantly surprised Bayo 2 made it on there.

Congrats Geoff, seems to be a solid well put together event. Looking forward to it now. Especially impressed with the GOTY list, reckon its between Bayonetta and Dragon Age. Hope people dont latch on to the Ubisoft thing

Of course there's a category called "Trending gamer" and of course Pewdiepie is on it

Edit: LOL Jeff Gerstmann just got first

GOTY list isn't very diverse—but that probably says a lot about the quality of next-gen games we've had this year.

you have a colorful character action game, one of the most popular card games on PCs/Mobile, an Assassin's Creed-type game, a WRPG and a Souls game.

I don't think that could have been more varied unless you took out SoM and put, like, a platformer there or something. None of them are even shooters!

People who are hating on Ubisoft may seem to forget that they published several GREAT non-AAA games this year. Like, South Park or Valiant Hearts or Child of Light.

Thematicly those GOTY games are (apart from Bayonetta) very boring. 4 fantasy based titles and then Bayonetta. What a boring list.

Very happy to see Dark Souls II up for GOTY. Even if it is a (slightly) lesser game compared to its predecessor, it's still one of the best games of the year. Deserved the nomination at the very least.

Also happy with the rest of the lists, and any day Platinum is up for some recognition is a good one. A bit odd that MGSV wasn't there for Most Anticipated, but that hardly qualifies as an award anyway; just some "community interaction" schtick.

I don't see why Zelda would be in most anticipated we know next to nothing about it really.
