Super Smash Bros. for Wii U |OT| True Potential of Smash Bros.

Trying to branch out from using Kirby but only care for Toon Link and so far but he's pretty great. I thought I would like Shulk but I suck around the edges of the stage.

The 8 Player Smash page on the website lays out the control options and limits:
○Wii U GamePad (Max 1)
○Wii Remote or Wii Remote Plus* (Max 7)
○Wii U Pro Controller (Max 7)
○Nintendo GameCube controller** (Max 8)
○Nintendo 3DS series system*** (Max 8)

* Includes expansion controllers (such as the Nunchuk or Classic Controller Pro).
** Two GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U accessories are required to connect eight GameCube controllers (each sold separately)
*** In order to use a Nintendo 3DS as a controller, each Nintendo 3DS system must have Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.

Is this accurate? Has anyone tried yet? Can I use 6 Pro Controllers and a Gamepad? That at least fixes my problems for this evening, though I wants my Wavebirds...

Right guys and gals.

I've never played a Smash Bros. Game, I'm not a super huge fan of fighters in general, I like them but I've never been crazy about them. If I bought this I'd only really play with the odd person locally, or my little brother. Otherwise it'd be solo/online.

Should I buy this game?

I love toon link infinitely more w/ a gamecube controller. I thought he wasn't great on 3DS (for me), turns out it was just the circle pad talking.

Everyone is going to tell you yes. I'm telling you yes.

It's a fun, well made game. I recommend it.

How do you set up amiibo?

Game is cheap, lazy garbage. DO NOT BUY

Just to ask, anyone feel blast zones definitely feel smaller? I was KOing opponents as Rosalina and Diddy Kong rather easily with their up air. I'm no smash expert so I like to think it just my imagination.

I'm a big smash fan. I'll be honest with you. It's not that fun by yourself. Alone, smash a mediocre experience. Despite all of the great features, fine tuning, polish, etc. It's just not that fun by yourself. End of story. Online is better for sure, playing with random people online is pretty good, but there's no chat during matches. Anyone familiar with my post history can see that being able to trash talk and joke around DURING a game is a tremendous thing for me. Playing online in total silence... not so great.

Locally is where this game shines most brilliantly. This game is INSANELY fun with a couple people on a couch, and with the new board game mode and eight player support, it's even crazier. My two cents.

They're just asking for recs from people who know the game best. That's a sound thing to do when you're not sure about something.

Controls are really weird on the Gamepad after years of playing 64 and Melee... I'd love to get the GC adapter so I can use my Wavebird but I just don't have the money right now.

I couldn't get used to the shoulder/trigger lay out. There is an option called Controls, where you can actually customize the buttons of your particular controller. I swapped the grab/shield buttons. Triggers are now shields, and the shoulders are now grab, as it was on Gamecube. Feels a lot more natural.

Ok, wow. I wasn't impressed w/ Zero Suit Samus on the 3DS, but on Wii U I'm in love with her speed. Those rocket boots heels are pretty badass with her jetting all over the place. I love the down kick, and her combo-ability is pretty great.

I may have a new backup main here (normally a Link player)

If the people in the main thread tell you to stay away from the game, that's probably a warning sign. More than likely, they came in here to make sure that's not the case.

I'm sure if you went into the AC:U thread and asked 'should I buy it?' you'd get some mixed results, but a lot of 'no.' That's the kind of input they're looking for.

Can anyone who has the Gamecube Adapter confirm if it recognizes it as a pro controller in other games?

not only does it only work in smash, but the green lights on the wavebird dongles don't even turn on until smash bros is running.

I feel like smash tour might be more fun with actual players instead of cpus; there are some interesting elements presented in the mode.

Warpstar Smash is garbage - tier tho.

Yeah this is what I was kinda worried about. I doubt I'd have all that many times with good local co-op. Hmm. I'm still on the fence for now.

I'll watch some videos/streams and see how I feel then :L

Boss galaga smash was pretty dumb, too. And it's only like 20% better with real people. AND you have to convince 1-3 other people to do that over just normal smash.

Stupid Best Buy and their late delivery. I pre-ordered so long ago. I really want to be playing this game tonight but it's at my local post office and unavailable until they deliver it tomorrow.

Last time I do day of pre-order.

Time to rek. FOR DEMACIAAAAA!

Has anyone confirmed if the Wii U version is using the same balance changes as update 1.0.4 on the 3DS version? I only got to play a few matches, but Mac feels a bit different compared to the recent update.

is cruel smash seriously the only way to get the duck hunt stage? there's no other way?
There's no other way besides meeting a certain amount of fights. Don't worry though you only have to kill one character/mii for DHD to unlock. You can die right after that and get him.

Just bought the Smash Controller Bundle + 3 Amiibos from Nintendo World.

Any NYC gaffers still looking for the bundle, go to NW. They had a crap load of these when I was there.

If you read even a page of posts here, though, you see an endless wall of praise.

Really sad that For Glory 2v2 is timed matches rather than stock. Still happy they included it, but making it 2 stock would have been so much better.

You couldn't preorder for in store pickup? No Best Buy close to you?

Do you have a 3DS? There should be a demo for the 3DS version. If you don't like that, it's safe to say you may not like the Wii U version.
